ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

ha_rooney's Pakistani, but lives in England. Sultan's got Pakistani ancestry, has a liking for them too.. I think there's someone else also.

Canadian team needs to recruit some Canadians first. I don't understand why they're having a whinge about minnows being excluded from the next WC. There are 9 non-canadians in that team.

Australia and New Zealand have made the unusual decision to compete for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy during their World Cup match in Nagpur on Friday. Previously, the prize has only ever been up for grabs during bilateral series, always of at least three games, but this was the only chance for the teams to meet during the 2010-11 season.

:wenger:

I just realized Pakistan have a really good team. Didn't watch much of their last series against NZ. If Amir and Asif had been included, it'd have been a hell of a team. Batting's low on consistency, but it's got plenty of decent to good players. Lot of depth.

Pakistan (probable): 1 Mohammad Hafeez, 2 Ahmad Shahzad, 3 Kamran Akmal (wk), 4 Younis Khan, 5 Umar Akmal, 6 Misbah-ul-Haq, 7 Shahid Afridi (capt), 8 Abdur Razzaq, 9 Umar Gul, 10 Wahab Riaz, 11 Shoaib Akhtar

That's Cricinfo's expected team. I would drop Misbah and include Ajmal. Razzaq at 8 is too low, and Ajmal's a quality spinner.

:lol::lol:

Wtf!!?

Lets have the border gavasker trophy as well as the ashes too!

Would love a Kenya win here, but Pakistan are well on track to compile a total that'll be beyond them.

Have to say though, the associates have performed to a perfectly adequate standard in this world cup and it exposes just how hare-brained a decision it was to exclude them from the next one. They've been getting better at every World Cup and have benefited hugely from playing reasonably regular series against each other in recent years.

Looks like Kenya want Pakistan to score many runs, 31 wides so far

Their bowling apart from the wides has been decent so far, Thomas Odoyo has conceded 19 runs in wides

317, great score by Pakistan, middle order all got good knocks - but 46 extras

Hopefully bowlers can get them out cheaply.

brewlio, NZ vs Kenya was a batting wicket and they got out for 69.

Pakistan would have struggled to get beyond 225 had it not been for indisciplined bowling.

I predict a score of around 130 for Kenya.

Afridi's ripping through the Kenyan batsman, Kenya 112-9. Obuya played well, some big shots in his knock.

All over, Kenya make 112.

Great result to start the WC for Pakistan, Afridi was majestic and the middle-order posted solid scores. Kenya's batting started well but then collapsed and they only had themselves to blame for Pak's big score with the number of extras conceded. Overall good performance by Pakistan.

Some of the no-balls and wides from the Kenyan bowlers looked suspicious.

That game was a relief more than anything. Good to see Younis and Misbah can still steady the ship instead of fighting with everyone around them. Always best to start a world cup edgily if trying to win it. Look at 1992 and even England's 20/20 trophy last year.

Take note India. ;)

Australia's last opening matches in last two world cups have been anything but edgy.

For the record winning by 205 runs is hardly edgy though :)

Anything Pakistanis do is edgy. Whether its running a country or between wickets. Don't let the scoreline sway you otherwise.

South Africa playing with three spinners

Darren Bravo looks like a class prospect.

Darren Bravo played a really good knock, shocked to see south africa play with 3 spinners. Tahir doing well. Good decision by Smith to start with Botha

South Africa playing with three spinners

Four. Du Plessis is a spinning all-rounder.

WI look better than I expected them to be. I don't think Bangladesh will be able to beat them.

Would help them if they picked a couple of bowlers, though. Seem to have forgotten to. Drop Smith, open with Chanderpaul and move everyone up a position and use that extra position for a bowler.. plenty of depth in their line-up.

Chanderpaul out as I type this, Pollard in.

Imran Tahir looks good, although Windies are rubbish players of spin.

South Africa playing with three spinners

It was one of the components missing from their attack previously. This will improve them as a team massively. They have a really good chance of doing really well in the tournament.

Make your mind up man...

You're shocked to see three spinners then comment Windies are rubbish at playing spin.

I was shocked to see three spinners because SA are usually a more pace-oriented attack. I was shocked to see Tsotobe dropped because he was pretty good in the Last India-SA ODI Series. That decision looks good right now however their batting looks weak today.
