ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

This has to be the worse limited overs fielding performance by any England side ever, and that's saying a lot. Most of the Dutch aren't even semi profs. There's only one proper grass wicket in the Netherlands. So for them to score almost 300 against England is an absolute unacceptable farce. Seems to me half the team doesn't even want to be there. Most of them have spent far too long away from their families, they need a break.
In my experience it's almost going to be impossible for England to turn this around and win the match as when you lose moral it's almost impossible to get it back. England to be bowled out for less than 200 to complete the most embarrassing and worst performance by any England team in any form of cricket. An absolute disgrace.

Rams your not too far off there frighteningly.

Trust England to set up the first close match :D

Pietersen and Strauss playing well so far

They've been playing cricket non-stop for a long time and it won't help, true. It's a big factor, but regardless, I think this is a pretty average ODI team.

I have a feeling they'll beat us on Sunday, though..

That's a bit knee-jerk. To be bowled for less than 200?

More south africans than english or dutch in this game..

4 in the dutch side, 4 in the English side..

And you have Tom Cooper who is from Australia..

Trott gone, good work by the wicket-keeper. 69 from 59 balls needed, could be interesting.

England should win, but a couple of wickets and you never know. Colly looks fidgety so far.

Huge wicket, Bell gone. ten Doeschate having a very good match.

Would've preferred Collingwood out, just don't feel confident in his ability to score quickly enough and guide England home

I have not watched much of this game , but have I miss something.
Have Holland become a world class one-day team?
Should we not be winning these sort of games with ease?

The pitch is pretty benign, but England just didn't bowl and field well enough, that's been the difference between England and the other teams playing minor nations....they bowled so much better and took wickets

Not sure about the Dutch team but ten Doeschete's a quality player. He's been doing it every season at Essex, so I'm not suprised how well he has played today.

That said, England should be winning these games, apparently the bowling and fielding was shocking.

yes agreed he is a class player but still, we should not be struggling against teams like Holland.

Dutch should bring the field in, make them play the big shot.

Game over, close in the end but England's batsman were in control for the most part. Strauss played well, ten Doeschete played very well as well.

The Dutch pushed England.

In the end not enough in the bowling department.

England's batsmen did very well to dig themselves out of a potentially very embarrassing situation. They will very happy that every batsman got time in the middle and contributed.

In the end not the worst result for England as their bowling and fielding will definitely get better as the tournament progresses and their batsmen have gotten themselves good practice.

This tournament is definitely 'marathon' so there is no point serving up your very best performances in games that should be walkovers, better to get teething problems out of the way in those types of games so that the engine is purring for games against the other big boys.

In the end, job done, move onto the next game.

Disaster avoided - more negatives than positives granted, but overall that'll do.

Like we did against the Aussies?

How many Englishmen here had their hearts pounding at the end of the Netherlands' innings? Anybody here thought England would lose?

Slight overreaction my part earlier on, but still that was a shocking bowling & fielding performance.

Cmon, be abit more optimistic/realistic ....The recent one day series with Australia meant nothing, even the Aussies will admit to that. For England it was one tournament too many after a physically demanding Ashes in which they poured every ounce of energy. That series was a completely stupid idea, if anything, they should have asked that the series be played across the sub continent as that would have been far morse useful to both sides!

As soon as the World Cup is over, no one will remember that series again, but whoever performs better between Australia and England in this tournament will be remembered.

Fair comment tbf...;)

I'm sure I wasn't the only one to be pissed off with both the T20 and ODIs, having come from the great high of the Ashes to the drivel of the ODIs can't have done anything for the teams confidence and then to put on that display against Holland, well it doesn't bode well for the tournament...

I hope you are right Sammsky...I hope you are right...

What a crock. You were battered because your ODI team is rubbish. You forget that we're still number 1 in ODI. After we thrashed you in 07 we thrashed you in the ODI series 'only to choke in the finals of that series' and then go through another World Cup undefeated.
