Families and not interfering is an oxymoron in places like India.
How common is it to get married for money?

Get some perspective and get the heck out, will you.33k is enough to fill up corrupt coffers, while give overpaid players some hefty perks for winning the CommonWealth World Cup.
The ICC-President is also the agricultural minister in India. If only Rs. 100 million and Rs. 50 million were given to each of those suicidal farmers.
I don't have time for Indian cricketers. They are there not for all the patriotic bull, but for lumpsomes of money. Sachin Tendulkar refused to represent India in the Commonwealth Games because he was underpaid.
That is awesome. Well deserved for the dedication.Man, I wanted to point out how pessimistic you were throughout the tournament. I was afraid of saying we'd win it for fear of jinxing it. Now that we've won the thing, I can happily say you're one pessimistic feck
I started believing after the loss to SA that we could do it. Innings break yesterday was when I thought we couldn't. After Gambhir and Kohli started playing, I had a feeling we'd be in business. Seen them do it before.
Anyway, moving on..
A little bit of background for those who don't know -- guy in the pic with Sachin is a lichi farmer who cycles all around India to watch Sachin play. He threatened to commit suicide if he wasn't given tickets for every match. Since then, Sachin's been giving him tickets for every match. Every year, he gives Sachin 365 lichis or some number like that during the time of harvesting.
According to Cricinfo, it seems Sachin came out and called him up into the dressing room, hugged him and handed him the trophy.
Just so typically classy of Sachin. Great man.
rightly said. certainly one of the many photos that is to be cherished.I just saved about 80 pictures from CRICINFO's galleries. For those who want to savour this moment, go there, download these pictures and keep them forever.
This picture really makes me smile. Lets not forget the men without whom this was not possible. Another absolute legend of not only Indian cricket, but world cricket - Anil Kumble. And one of those warriors who are one of the reasons why we are always warriors on the pitch today. I love Sachin's enthusiasm in Kumble holding the trophy as well.
Love, compatibility, religion etc etc...
Oh right. I meant the relation between two people genuinely wanting to spend their lives together or getting married for other reasons such as money or family.
Not really the thread for it. I might make another thread discussing marriage in different cultures as it's an interesting topic.
Interesting comment from cricinfo:
An amazing fact is that in this cup, India won last 4 matches against the last 4 world champions and also in that order. i.e. Windies (1st champion 1975), Aus (3rd champion 1987), Pak (4th champion 1992), and Srilanka (5th champion 1996).
It's the 2nd April connection I found interesting
Which is?
Needs verification but my son told me we won the 83 WC on the 2nd April, the 20-20 WC on the 2nd April and yesterday of course.
25th June 1983.
OK, what about the 20-20?
Wow, respect.
Puts all the mocking some of us do into perspective.

Well done India, I'm ecstatic Tendulkar finally got to hold the trophy - if any player in the history of the game deserved such an honor it is he. What an absolute legend of the game, and the undisputed second best batsmen of all-time for mine.
This series just proved to the world how ageless/evergreen he really is.
Commiserations to Sri Lanka and their fans too, a quality side that deserved to be in the final and were just outplayed on the day. They'll be bossing sides for a long time though.
Not sure about Lanka going forward. Too many of their best players are coming into the twilight of their careers around the same time.
Refused by the girls family you plonk

That's good because noone has time for you.
Chao.
Yeah, but did any of you guys make the 9 millionth post on the caf? No? Thought not.
To be fair, Amol, you ought to win the next 5 world cups. Anyway, I can envisage just one nation taking part in the cricket world cup/commonwealth cup in future - the one nation being India of course.
The next challenge is how to build your self up for other series. Do some of the players still have the hunger? This is where the players will be found out. The next coach has a massive job on his hand.
Applies to the fans as well in a sense.
Wrong

Nah. This is probably the best sporting event I've seen. I said it even when SL were batting yesterday. Simply brilliant. Makes the last three football world cups look like fecking snorefests.
Cricket is potentially in a great place right now. The World Cup is it's biggest honor. And it has reached amazingly high levels of entertainment and class over the last month and a half. What's even better was that barring those few spastic matches, a large portion of the tournament was not a 320+ scoring one. For me that's what made it special. Good old contests between bat and ball.
Now if only someone can secretly destroy those fecking T20's.
