ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

What a wonderful end to a wonderful tournament. Best team won with the best player in the tournament on the pitch with his captain when it was won. Fairytale stuff.

Deserved winners, beat the bigger teams, peaked at the right time and had good performers throughout.

What an innings from Dhoni, what a fecking shot to win. Sachin gets the one thing that was missing from his trophy cabinet.

Superb performance, good game & a terrific World-Cup. Credit to the 3 nations who hosted the event & to India and Sri Lanka for a well played final.

 You're obsessed with fairy tales.

As a young kid, I was so disappointed when we lost in the 1996 semis. I kept wondering that Sachin might get a maximum of 2 more WCs to accomplish the one thing that is coveted above so many things. It is the best tribute you can hope for and justice is served for this amazing player. Sachin, Congratulations.

Well done India. This is brilliant and you can see it in the celebration what he means to a billion people. I am thrilled and on the verge of tears. just wow.

I'd like to see a Ryder Cup style match in cricket, sub-continent vs rest of the world. (i.e India, Pak, Lanka, Bang vs Aus, Eng, SA, WE, NZ)

Indian fans celebrations reminds me of how I felt in Barcelona on the 26th May 1999 in the moments after Ole scored. Bonkers. Its an amazing feeling.

Look at Tendulkar's little face! He doesn't look old. He's the Ryan Giggs of cricket.

Have they announced where the next WC will be?

Sehwag: 38 year old Tendulkar diving is great to see.

Tendlya wont be too pleased :D

Aussie WC will be brilliant - 92 was the first bling bling world cup, I can recall the Aussies putting on a great show. But yeah, this was a fantastic world cup.

yay!

Very eloquent and classy interview from Sangakkara.

Not much else SL could have done.

Somebody has to win and India were that team today. SL can be very proud of themselves and could not have done much more.

A great interview from Dhoni. Love it that he is frank, to the point and tells it like it is.

Very interesting to hear his thinking about promoting himself up the order today in that he sought the backing of his team mates and coach.

He is a very smart guy and literally has the world at his feet. He could go on to be the greatest cricket captain ever .... he's already half way there!

As a Pakistan fan it's going to be a difficult few days, starting tomorrow at work and then Uni on Monday. But credit to India, they beat us, Aus and SL in crucial games, and as Afridi said we should not hate our neighbours but support them.

Most of all, Sachin finally has that WC win which he so thoroughly deserves.

Congratulations India, enjoy your victory!

That against SL as well.
I remember Kambli crying..
Its been a long time..

Settle down.

He has no chance of being the greatest captain ever. His challenge will come as it did for Ponting, once some of the senior players move on.

I do like that he is very frank, but he could have done with thanking SL...Sanga made it a point to congratulate the winners, it is etiquette for the winner to then express commiserations to the loser.

Whatever I'm just nitpicking.

Great win for India, best team, no excuses, and they did in the most competitive final we've had since 1996. 99, 2003 and 2007 finals were boring one sided matches, this was anyones match for a long long time.

Also great to see the genuine respect a lot of those Indian players have for Tendulkar, it's not just something they recite rote, but you can tell they really do respect him, and are ecstatic he has finally won a WC.

If there are two bowlers Sehwag wouldn't want to face, they're there in the Sri Lankan team. Malinga and Murali.

You can't crash yorkers through the offside ring.

I would love to be proven wrong. If we are to win, I think Gambhir and Kohli will have to step it up, and of course Sachin.

Well done, so happy.

This has to be right up there with me favourite sporting memories of all time. Kudos Team India.

So this is what it feels like to have the dreams of a billion people fulfilled simultaneously. Rather nice, innit?

The compilation video at the end of the sky sports coverage was class. If anyone can find a link as soon as it crops up, i would be grateful.
