ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

How India play the spinners will be key, the other 2 SL seamers don't look threatening.

India comes to a standstill every time the team takes to the cricket field really. Everyone's at least got an eye on the score.

Ganguly on TV saying Ravi Shastri told him Dhoni won it first time.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sangakarra lied, he's always been a bit of a cnut.

That toss was a complete joke. The match referee was clueless as to what to do. It was up to Shastri to coax him into taking a decision.

Having said that it looked as if Dhoni had won first time round the way they shook hands.

Well Sangakarra called for the toss, so he must have known whether he won or not. cnutish thing to do actually.

Check your facts next time before you make such remarks?

Toss taken twice after confusion over call

The World Cup final ran into confusion before the first ball was bowled. The coin had to be tossed twice after the match referee Jeff Crowe said he had not heard Sri Lanka captain Kumara Sangakkara's call the first time. The Wankhede Stadium was not yet filled to its 33,000 capacity, and the noise was yet to reach its peak. Commentator Ravi Shastri, who was hosting the toss, said it had fallen heads the first time. There were then a few moments of confusion as Crowe said he had not heard the call and so the toss that had been carried out was null and void. When MS Dhoni threw up the coin again, Sangakkara called 'heads' and the coin fell Sri Lanka's way.

Replays of the toss indicated that Sangakkara called heads the first time as well, and the call is audible to producers of the host broadcasters ESPN-Star Sports. Sangakkara's head was lowered when he called. However, Dhoni appears to have heard it as a tails call, and he turned towards Shastri saying, "We'll bat". But neither Shastri nor Crowe had heard Sangakkara's call, Crowe due to the noise and Shastri because he was looking up at the coin. When Shastri looked across to Crowe, the referee said, "I didn't hear it." There was then a brief conversation and it was decided the toss had to be held again.

I was going by Gavaskar saying Shastri told him Dhoni won it first time around.

It was quite obvious from Sanga's facial expression he had won the toss first time around.

In the 20 mins I've seen this, SL have made at least 5 fielding feckups that have lead to overthrows.

Kohli looks a very good player, been impressed with him.

Yes they are, well ahead.

Current RR: 5.45
Required RR: 5.52

As per Cricinfo. The gap was bigger when you posted.

EDIT: That graphic is just comparing the two innings over by over. Nothing to do with required run rate.

They are ahead of SL at the same stage.
Still behind the Req RR

Jeez that was a bit thick of me.

I got ya. Clearly see what you are saying.

Cheers.

I find it amazing that there are 4 players of Sikh origins in the Indian starting line up today (Dhoni, Yuvraj, Harbahjan, Kohli) given that Sikh's make up only 2.3% of the Indian population (about 25 million out of 1.1 billion).

Is there any particular reason why there is such a heavy over indexing?

114-3. AMAZING catch from Dilshan. Still India will prefer its Kohli and not Gambhir.

Ghambir now has an even bigger responsibility. Has to anchor the innings til the final few overs.

Why is Dhoni in ahead of Yuvraj? He's been out of form all WC and another wicket will swing momentum back towards SL.

Almost out as well.

Weird decision for Dhoni to come out before Yuvraj given the form he is in. Dont understand that.

Dhoni and Kohli are Sikhs? You sure?

Dhoni is from Jharkand and Kohli is from Delhi.

My guess would be Yuvraj is a jittery starter and Murali has had the better of him in the past.

@ 145km/h Malinga has a real zip to his yorkers. At his best, he is as dangerous as Waqar Younis's toe crushers use to be.

Singh doesnt mean he is sikh

It think it is as used by Dhoni as its his middle name. All Sikhs would use Singh as a de facto middle name.

I may be wrong, but I have always assumed he is from Sikh origins.

RR not a problem at the moment - SL's only chance is to take wickets, if India bat out the 50 overs they will win & they look comfortable.

Nobody comes close to Waqar Younis. He was in a league of his own with those toe crushers.

Remember reading about some county club in England where batsmen had steel toeheads installed in shoes or was it some other team?
