ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

I dont understand why sehwag took that review. Very selfish and stupid. That was about as plumb an LBW decision I have ever seen!!!!

I think India should get their heads and build slowly. They simply cannot afford to lose Tendulkar AND Sehwag within the first 10 overs as suddenly when you then look at rest of batting line up, it looks short of class and experience, certainly to successfully chase 275

Shifted heavily in SLs favor in the last 5 overs of their innings. 275 under pressure against spinners like Murli and Mendis is going to be a very very tough task

Good thing Mendis isn't playing.

Still getting my head around that Sri Lanka innings. Was fantastic. For the older posters here, it reminded me alot of Pakistans match winning first innings of 249 in the 1992 final.

Should have tried to see off Malinga like Sri Lanka saw off Khan.

Slinger Malinga delivered a fanatsic opening spell. India playing like some big game bottlers right now.

Gambhir or Kohli will need to enshrine their names into legend if India are to have any chance.

As for Tendulkar, Im gutted, not because he missed out on his 100 but because I was desperate to watch a last duel between him and Murali for old times sake

So: If you are India's captain, what is your strategy to go about winning this game?

In way, its good for India that Gambhir and Kohli are at the crease. Both are technically good batsmen. I would want them to just stay put at the wicket for the next 20 over and try and score at 3-4 runs per over. India simply cant afford to lose any more wickets, they have to have at least Yuvraj and Dhoni at the crease after 35 overs. Likewise, Dhoni needs to rediscover his pre captaincy batting form as he and Yuvraj will have to do some very heavy scoring in the last 15 overs.

Agreed, Kohli and Gambhir just need to be sensible and take singles. If they go for too much I'd fancy the confident Sri Lankan bowling attack to knock them over. Murali will be fired up.

Yeah, just aim to keep it steady at 4 runs an over. Don't take chances, just bat sensibly.

It's weird that the two experienced players lost their heads. Sehwag with a ridiculous review, and Tendulkar by going too hard too early and trying to hit everything to the boundary. Pressure I guess.

This is following a similar pattern to the Sri Lankan innings.

Haven't seen too much of him in the World Cup, but in the mini-series Sri Lanka played against Australia before the Ashes I was quite impressed with Kulasekara and his ability to keep it tight and bowl consistent yorkers.

I was telling my son they used to be no balls back in my day.

Is my memory serving me right Spoons ?

Not sure. I don't think so, underarm bowling was allowed back in the day, so I see no reason why this wouldn't have been. But yeah, it's borderline stuff, he slings it in baseball pitcher style.

Why are both India and SL's kits blue when neither country has any blue in any part of its formal identity (Eg flag).

If only Sehwag and Sachin played out Malinga's spell. These two bowlers don't look all that.

India certainly need to be ahead of the game come the death given how good Malinga is at bowling the last few overs.
