Ibrahimovic + Thiago Silva

I find it a bit sad to be honest. Two of the world's best choosing a lesser league while in their prime simply because of the money offer. Ibra/Silva should still be playing in a top leauge like England, Germany, or Spain (discounting Italy with the current problems).

Is Bundesliga that much better to Ligue 1, though?

I think Henderson has the potential to become the best midfielder England has produced in this decade and Carroll is among top 10 centre forwards in the world for me right now. Both were worth every penny as proven by Liverpool's season that ended with one major trophy and a final in another competition.

So you're saying C&H were the main reason and discounting the contributions of Gerrard, Suarez, Kuyt, Reina, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger... right.

Those two players were/are vastly overrated. Carroll in the top 10 CFs? Are you taking the piss?

Bundesliga is a lot more entertaining and fun to watch, the stadiums are most of the time full with some cracking atmospheres. The Ligue 1 is almost the entire opposite of that, the football can be lethargic (even if it's improved in the last 3-4 seasons), the atmospheres are as lively as graveyards, the fans are stupid in a worrying proportion).
However when it comes to the teams themselves, I don't think there is that much difference in terms of quality between the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 teams.

I definitely think so, by a wide margin even...Quality of football in Germany is high, week to week...I think it's the best league top to bottom in Europe

For me, Ligue 1, even with this move, remains inferior to Serie A...but probably for not much longer...There are some mind numbingly painful issues to contend with watching Ligue 1...It can only be taken in doses, unless you're French

Almost thought you were referring to the MLS. :(

I think if PSG keeps buying superstars from other leagues that the Ligue 1 overall will not improve by one bit.On the other hand if the Qatari money is invested in the league by the transfers of players from other teams, then that money could be reinvested and the teams might improve generally.

I think the top two in Germany are miles ahead of anyone on France. After that it's probably fairly even.

It's hard to judge teams from different leagues as for instance Marseille (who were really last season)and Dortmund were in the same group in the CL.In both games, Marseille proved to be the better team without much problems.

Yeah, these moves are clearly with Europe in mind...However, the necessary chemistry to do that aren't necessarily all there with this side...It could work, who knows

Aren't the top 6 in Bundesliga comfortably ahead of every other team in Ligue 1 (apart from PSG) in terms of player quality.

Bayern and Dortmund are obviously ahead of PSG as well. Just looking at Bayern, who have real world class talents, more so than the rest of Ligue 1 combined. Are there any established stars in Ligue 1 outside of PSG? All are young stars looking for the move up. Whereas the Bundesliga actually has quite a few which give their peak years to the Bundesliga. Mostly in Bayern, but the fact that it has players like Gomez, Ribery, Kroos, Robben, Lahm etc etc and that Dortmund also have very exciting players and don't have to splunk millions, or even sell all of them, tells you its a nice league. Serie A now have few top class players. Ibra was the biggest draw card by a mile, and most rated player, and he's 30 (No MASSIVE stars apart from a 30 year old; i.e. no top players giving in their prime there, plus the talented youngsters wanting out like Sanchez, and even Lavezzi although he's older). Yes, I am underrating the leagues a little, but it's obvious the quality is far below the EPL and La Liga. Bundesliga is a clear 3rd now.

La Liga is very greedy with them, although the PL has quite a few.

There's a reason why Dortmund have attendances higher than even us for the least few years. Very entertaining to them, and very high quality compared to other leagues. Also, there's a reason why they overtook Serie A in the coefficients and now they are, behind EPL and La Liga, the proud owners of 4 CL spots.

EPL has a TV rights deal per year (including overseas, not just the local deal with a billion quid a year) of 2.2 million Euros, the Seria A 1 billion Euros, Bundesliga 700 million Euros, Ligue 1 is 655 million Euros and La Liga 642 (according to the Swiss Ramble).

Oh, and that Manchester United team, kings of England, drew and lost to some Swiss team.

Over the season, Dortmund played much better. As did we.

Record points total for the Bundesliga, ever, (Dortmund achieved that this season), and constantly beat out Bayern. It's awkward pitting teams from different leagues against each other, especially since the amount of matches (sample size) is so small. But it's pretty obvious that the German league is much stronger and more competitive than the French leagues. The French league is a feeder league. The Bundesliga isn't.

Bayern is a lot better than any team of the Ligue 1 at the moment and Borussia Dortmund has been the best in Germany in the last two seasons. Those are the cold facts and I cannot deny them.
However I watched Marseille vs Dortmund in the group stages, I don't know if it was Marseille who were more than a match (actually better) than Dortmund or if Dortmund were just in bad form.
Overall there is no doubt, the Bundesliga is much better than the Ligue 1.

Surprised a rich consortium hasn't bought up a German club and spent lavish amounts. Or has this occurred very recently?

The ownership in Germany is different. Clubs are owned by the fans. Every club, i believe. I don't know if that sugar daddy ownership is outlawed, but every club is owned by the fans, for the fans and everyone would be pissed off if you did go sugar daddy, since everyones on a level playing field at the moment. There aren't any real big losses by clubs, either. FFP isn't a problem there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I read (or thought I read).

Scroll above for my little piece on different leagues playing each other, and how we by that logic were beaten and outplayed by Basel. Teams in bad form can easily lose. We did to Basel, they did to Marseille. It happens. But both teams are better than their conquerors.

I read it before.I just don't have a definitive view.At the team of the match Basel beating United felt more of a shock than anything whereas it didn't surprise many that Dortmund lost to Marseille.
The current Marseille would be relegation fodder in any league in Europe

It'll be funny to hear both of them say that the PSG excited them and it wasn't for money that they moved to that club. Not it matters but it's a damn shame that two of the best players in the world would go "all for money" like that.It leaves a disgusting taste

From what they said before, they'd have stayed in Milan, but when your club accepts a bid for you, it is awkward to stay. At best, you (Silva/Ibra) can posture for a club of your preference to sign you.

But then, whose going to offer as much as PSG. Especially for the almost 31 year old Ibra. Silva might get similar offers, but they obviously haven't been forthcoming, or Milan, in their situation, would wait a few weeks. So, the players, in the interests of Milan, have left for PSG. Obviously, accepting that, they'd try get as much money as possible in order to compensate for the move they never really attempted to get for themselves. Their agents would do so, anyways.

I suspect that you are mentally unwell

Seriously are you feckING SERIOUS?

Mental, i'd like to see who AC will buy with all that money though, Balotelli?

At the same time though it's refreshing to see other leagues competing with the big three, who are primarily such a big three because of money.
