I just bought a playstation 3

I'm not sure, I would guess with it being one of the bigger titles and six months release date to be 1080p.

It can be overpowering, but I bet it would look fantastic and make the living room look even nicer.

32" is more then enough, but if you have the choice, go for the 42" because they look great.

True, good question.

Is there another place you can put it? Like another room, or have maybe a ridiculously big computer screen?

Panasonic have a 2 and half metre widescreen LCD. I'd love to have one. Only problem is that it costs around 40K.

Ah, in that case I have no idea.

Can you still get any money off it, or do you want to keep it?

Do you think you can part with it if you can't put it anywhere else?

Can you not give it to someone else, or put it somewhere out of the space?

I've just downloaded most of the trailers from E3 - Sony put them on their PSN so have just seen them in all their HD goodness.

Have to say Killzone looks incredible! The environment looks much more real - a combination of the lighting effects and also how both the enemies and the scenery react to gunfire.

And Weate - I also heard that the developers demonstrated that it was all real time - absolutely amazing.

Didn't check to see whether it was 720 or 1080 - I'll confirm this evening.

But I'm fairly sure it was 720p...either way it looked pin sharp! Also, had it been 1080p then there would have been even more shouting and amazement!

So when are you going to invest in one?

It was most likely 720p but will definately be released in 1080p.

Are you 100% that wasn't pre-rendered? It looked very much like a cut scene.

Here's hoping it was real.

From what I've read on various sites, the developers played through an entire level in front of the journos. They then went back to the intro scene and paused the action, moved the cameran around real time etc.

So personally cannot confirm it, but can only go by the comments of journos who saw it. Here's hoping the games journalists have a greater level of ability that some of the football journalists - Mr Custis for instance!

Also, surely SOny cannot make the same mistake twice by using a pre-rendered cutscene. They can't be that stupid...can they?:nervous:

At the moment, Pro Evo 6, Fear and Resistance.

I'm not sure, they have made a lot of stupid mistakes in the past, but hopefully this is real and not pre-rendered. I will wait until more views come out, I remember last time they claimed it was real when it wasn't, pissed me off.

I'm off to the shops this afternoon. :D

32" TV is big enough for my living room I think. Or should I go 42"? Bit overpowering a TV of that size though!

feck that. I bought a 50 inch plasma about 8 months ago and now wish I'd waited and bought thew new 60 inch version with built in DVD recorder.

Almost.

I know what you mean. You could easily just keep waiting and waiting - there is always some new innovation around the corner!

My solution was to buy one and then trying to stop paying attention to any news of new TVs!

me too, i buy the latest mobile phone i can find, then a few weeks later a better one comes out

Anyone seen the E3 news? Metal Gear Solid definitely a PS3 exclusive, and also a new game exclusively to the PS3 called HAZE. It sounds like a potentially good game.

Not really on topic here but I didn't think it deserved its own thread really.

I want to sell my 360 with some games (Lost Planet, Dead Rising, FEAR, Arcade Unplugged, and Gears of War). Plus two controllers.

How much do you think I'd get for it?

Congrats to those of you who have bought a PS3 - I think it's a great investment.

I actually find that I'm using it more and more - and not just for games. The picture with Blu-ray discs is amazing, but it also does a great job of upscaling DVDs as well.

Also, with the PS3 Video 9 program, which is a free download, you can convert video files to a format that can play on the PS3. So any movies / shows I download, I just convert to this format and put them on a memory stick and transfer them to my PS3 and watch them from there. Much quicker than burning DVDs all the time.

As for the build quality, I heard that the 360 has a return / faulty rate of about 33%, while the PS3's return / faulty rate is less than 1%.

Finally, for those who own a PS3, what is your PSN ID? Mine's the same as my ID on here. I currently have Motorstorm, Resistance, Tiger Woods and Rainbow 6. Be good to play against you guys sometime.

I have just borrowed motorstorm so when iv had a practice on it ill give u a online game. My username is my redcafe username

WTF Unreal Tournament 3 a ps3 exclusive for it's first year.

Ones I'm looking out for...

Ace Combat 6... they're talking about huge battles on live...if they pull it off it'll be immense

Exciting times to be a nerd.

My list:

Halo 3
Halo Wars
Turok
Bioshock
Assassins Creed
Two Worlds
Pro Evolution 7
Ace Combat 6
Army Of Two
Call Of Duty 4 - Gameplay footage looks unbelievable.
Mass Effect
Transformers
Huxley
Unreal Tournament III
Timeshift
Half-Life 2: The Orange Box
Grand Theft Auto IV
Need For Speed: Pro Street
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
Haze
Golden Axe
World Of Conflict
Just Cause 2
Tom Clancy's EndWar
Battlefield: Bad Company
Saints Row 2
Universe at War
Mirror's Edge

Yes, it's a long list I know but I love my games.

My list:

Halo 3 - - Will be class. Can't wait for online play, we should start a caf nerd clan.

Halo Wars -
Don't do strategy games on consoles, but I've heard they've done loads of work on the buttons so it should work. Also, why don't they make it work with the new 360 usb keyboard they're bringing out? It's Halo, so it's bound to be good. Long way off mind.

Turok - Last one was a bit shit, I think I'll read the reviews before splashing out.

Bioshock
- Graphics look immense but for me the lack of online multiplayer could be significant.

Assassins Creed - Don't do RPGs

Two Worlds
- Heard of it, don't know much about it.

Pro Evolution 7 - Obvious choice, should be good.

Ace Combat 6
- Online will be class if they work it right. Graphics look class.

Army Of Two - Think I'll read the reviews first.

Call Of Duty 4 - Glad they've moved away from ww2, never liked the first 3 games. Wierd they chose COD4 and not started a new franchise considering it's a new developer.

Mass Effect - Looks class, but again a RPG which I don't enjoy.

Transformers - Not heard much about it.

Huxley - What's this?

Unreal Tournament III
- Was looking forward to it but it's ps3 only for a year...is this enough to make me buy a ps3?

Timeshift - Not heard much of it

Half-Life 2: The Orange Box - Erm, I think it'll be left behind by other shooters tbh.

Grand Theft Auto IV - Looks good but I can't see it being a game I'm going to be rushing to the shop to get.

Need For Speed: Pro Street - Don't do racing. Especially need for speed.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
-I've heard a lot about this, apparently they're changing the whole game style from previous splinter cell games, worth looking out for.

Haze -
Watched the video but I've forgot about it. What is it again? Remember it looking good. Isn't it ubisoft?

Golden Axe - What?

World Of Conflict- Know nothing about it.

Just Cause 2 -
First was shit.

Tom Clancy's EndWar - Strategy game is it not? Tom Clancy so obviously worth looking out for.

Battlefield: Bad Company - I find battlefield games too frantic, make any progress you get shot.

Saints Row 2 - Liked the first en, then went off it. Might be decent, will have to be to rival GTA4

Universe at War - Never heard of it

Mirror's Edge - same

...

Just found some news regarding the proposed price cut in the UK, if anyone is interested.

Sony is not cutting the price of the PlayStation 3 in Europe, but will offer
free games and accessories instead.
There is also no word of plans for an 80GB version of the console in Europe.

Last week Sony said it would drop the US price of the 60GB PS3 by $100
(£50), and introduced a new 80GB version at the original price of $599
(£300).

In Europe gamers will get a "starter pack" at an unchanged price of £425 for
the 60GB machine, with two games and two controllers included.

The new pack was announced at the E3 games conference in Santa Monica, in
California. Sony says it is offering gamers £115 worth of added games and
controller, for no extra charge.

But the firm could face criticism from gamers for deciding not to reduce the
price of the 60GB PS3 and not announcing the 80GB machine.

Earlier this week, Jack Tretton, chief executive of Sony Computer
Entertainment America, said he thought the US price cut would at least
"double" the sales of PS3 in the country.

In the UK, the PlayStation 3 remains £125 more expensive than the equivalent
Xbox 360 bundle of console and games and £225 more expensive than the
Nintendo Wii with two games.
