How would you feel if Rooney smashed it at Everton?

Dont care how hes doing honestly. Good for him that hes scoring with Everton but I firmly believe we're better off with Lukaku leading the line.

Agreed 100%.
At MUFC, he was getting worse as the seasons progressed.
In his final stage, he'd reached a stage, where he could barely kick a ball straight. He was shinning balls towards the opponent's goal.

I think some people have forgotten that Rooney was a special talent. He was a complete player by the time he was 21 years old. He was better than Ronaldo when they were both young. However, Ronaldo had the hunger to improve and be the best he can be. Rooney just loved playing football, but didnt care much about being a prime athlete. The goalscoring will never leave Rooney.

Unfortunately for Rooney his fitness is no longer acceptable for a top club.

This is an over-exaggerated myth.

Rooney may not have had Ronaldo's incredible work-ethic, but very few if any players in history have had

The fact that Rooney lasted 12 years at Manchester United, and has scored PL goals as a striker from age 16 to 32, shows that he has also put work in. Look at the likes of Torres/Owen/Kaka - these players were all top class but didn't have Rooney's longevity.

Rooney has played almost 700 club games - this is the amount most top 35 year old players have played. He's not same fat waste of space who has stumbled to greatness - he works harder than most PL players, hence he's a 5 time champions with the 2nd most goals and a seriously impressive longevity in the game. Underrated.

Bump for Wazza.

Another game another goal. Always thought he was shit at penalties, but he's very composed these days.

He was rather poor tonight but he scored a pen and had 50% conversion rate from the spot.. What was this his 4th from the spot? Everton has had more pens for them this season than any other team..

10 goals in 16 league games. I think he left at the right time but are those who were saying he was only championship standard prepared to accept they were wrong yet?

Didn't he also have one saved that bounced back to him. Or is that included in the four?

Actually feel in some games where Pogba wasn't available Rooney may have done a job for us where others didn't have the confidence to get on the ball and look forward

Moving him on was always the correct call though and well overdue, not replacing him though is looking a bit of a problem especially due to the form of our other number 10's

Rooney lost it a long time ago, a sideways, regular pass to Sigurdsson and a penalty will not change my opinion. Way too often he loses the ball or tries something that worked ten years ago. Everyone can score a penalty. In our midfield or as an attacking midfielder he would look so lost I’d cry to get Lingard
back - and I can’t stand Lingard playing for us regularly.

I think he needed to leave for his own sake. A fresh start somewhere else has done him good. He was pretty bad in his last 3 seasons for us, so I'm happy to see him do well now.

Just tone it down against us, Wayne!

It's great to see Rooney having a productive season at Everton and I hope it continues, except when he plays against us. But it's such a shame how far he has fallen in terms of physicality - he had it all back in the Sir Alex Ferguson times.

The spark is clearly still there, but the flame is ignited only once in a while nowadays.

No because you can watch a whole game of him playing Championship standard football repeatedly this season.

And last season.

And the season before that.

And the season before that.

Think the move has reinvigorated him.

When I've watched him he's looked better for Everton than he did for us in recent years.

How many penalties do Everton get? I think they got 7 this season. It is really insane. Watched the game today and Rooney played a lot like he did here. He has an ability to score even when not playing that well. It is quite insane haha. I think it is the strikers instinct at times to be at the right spot at the right time. Although yeah he is still not great at penalties. 3/5 this season and scored one from the rebound.

It was a good move for him though. I think this is his level at the moment and they seem to have found a good number 10 role for him. His numbers are really sick though. I think it was the same with him being here that people can be blinded by the numbers if you don't watch the games.

Happy to see him doing well, my opinion of him began to get tainted due to him stinking the place up here, but now that he's gone I've been able to appreciate what he's done for us more. He's a legend of the club and I'm glad to see he's enjoying himself and playing regularly again.

Giggsy's record is hard to break but with the goal against Swansea, Wazza is 52 off of the goal record. Expecting him to match Shearer then set the number as highest he can get before leaving Everton for MLS.

Perhaps Lukaku will be the closest one to become the next PL top scorer

Pleased he's doing well. Bit like Phil Neville who left for Everton and was subsequently an important player for them. Hopefully he'll be crap against us and bang in a few against our rivals.

Only watched the first half but he was terrible and he still ends the game with a goal and an assist. Fair play to him, in all honesty.

He was awful last night, lost the ball most of the time, very slow and easily closed down.

Oh no. He should've gone a couple of seasons back.

He was great for us. I am happy he is doing well.

You’d love this performance, he has been kind of crap but has a goal and assist.

Aye that sounds about right. I’m sure people will be pointing to the stats of this game as proof of how good he is playing.

Nothing like some stat padding. Anytime I've watched Everton this season, he's genuinely looked very poor. I suppose he might get away with that kind of thing at Everton once he's getting decent enough numbers.

Exactly my thoughts. Wazza was my idol growing up, more so than Ronaldo. Sadly I had begun hating him too. I am so happy, that he has been doing well.
