I didn't think yesterday's HIMYM episode was all that.
Someone needs to take the writers out back and shoot them, they're struggling right now. Just put them out of their misery. Ted's search for the mother is getting annoying too, they keep adding storylines around it (yellow umbrella, meeting roommate, the wedding, etc) but nothing on it. I'm getting a bit scared that they'll end up turning the show crap and by the time we find out who the mother is, we'll no longer care.
EDIT: Also, yes, TBBT has thankfully come back this season and been just as good as ever. Unlike the other show's progressions this season, Sheldon's has been really well done.
The whole Lily/Marshall "man I fell in love with" story was absolutely terrible. HIMYM was based on certain things: Barney being awesome, Robin being Canadian, Ted being a loser (seriously, worst lead character in any sitcom ever - and it's not acted that well either) and Lily & Marshall being a couple.
Barney's started to be nothing more than a hollow alcoholic with Daddy issues, Robin's no longer Canadian but a New Yorker, Ted's still a loser which isn't a good thing and now they're screwing with Lily & Marshall?!

Now it is, HIMYM when it started was better IMO, but regarding TBBT; I'm equally baffled every time I see the credits that it's written by the same person who manages to write the utter tripe that is two and a half men.Oh and yes HIMYM is a couple, sorry many leagues below The Big Bang Theory

Well Two and a half men is a very popular show and it's really entertaining. And it's definitely funnier than How I Met Your mother right now. It's a shame since it was amazing in it's first two seasons.

Yeah, what amazes me is that he on one hand can write extremely funny shit with BBT, and then go on and write something so completely unclever like Two and a half men.
Don't agree with it being funnier than HIMYM, since HIMYM still has its moments while having lost much of the initial charm when you got to know the characters and their traits. Two and a half men is just unfunny and I don't even know why I bother watching it, especially since Mia and Chelsea (her knockers
) are out of the picture. Now it's just Charlie, and he's not even banging much nowadays, Alan, who might be the most annoying character EVER with his annoying voice and his annoying personality, and their mother who's just a bitch. Jake's not even cute and fat anymore, which was what made him funny in the early days of the show. It's not like a retarded teenager is something new to the world that you could create a character around.

Never works, Barney only works because of the rest of the group. Its like when tey tried to have Joey from Friends on his own show. Its funny because of the chemistry, Barney alone wouldnt cut it.This.
The Defenders is not too bad.
I've never liked TaaHM, it's just all dry sexual inneundos with the odd clever bit. At least HIMYM used to be really intelligent and have very clever scenarios, but it's has descending into a typical American sitcom now unfortunately.
Regarding TBBT, I tried watching the first series and gave up after a few episodes, thought it was very dry, but I've heard i gets a lot better. Should I give it another go?
Definitely give it another go. It did start of a tad bit slowly but it gets really good. Probably the best comedy after Modern Family right now?
Modern Family is great isn't it? Phil and Cam are just priceless humour at times. I'll give it another go then, I've run out of sitcoms to watch.

The show has consistently sucked for the last couple of years now.
Looks like the only saving grace for sitcoms lies with Modern Family, 30 Rock and Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.....Rules of Engagement is watchable at times I guess, and Two and Half Men too sometimes....
but Modern Family, 30 Rock and Its Always Sunny are in a league of their own though...
Outsourced is not too bad and has some alright moments with the likes of Gupta etc...
Community had lots of potential but has gone down the cheap laughs route, Abed could have been one hell of a character, and he's the only reason I still watch that show..

I really like Outsourced. And being an Indian I don't feel offended at all. Infact after Dexter, Modern Family and BBT it's the show I look forward to most each week.

The episode today was one of the better ones in ages. Thought I'd be deleting it off the DVR after a few initial minutes like the past several episodes but this one was watchable.
i wonder when we will know how ted met the kids mother. it is dragging on and on
Its just getting really boring nowadays. It become more of a family oriented kind of series where it ain't hysterical or hilarious but more like values and friends and keeping everyone happy.
Yeah and it's all about the story. It's not fair to call it a sitcom anymore.

I think I've seen about two episodes of this. I'm thinking of starting from the beginning when I've finished all The Big Bang Theory, is it consistently good, for the first few seasons at least?
Yup. First three seasons are pretty good IMO, 4th season is average while 5th is worse of them all.
The 6th Season hasn't been that bad so far.
I'm not so sure what they want to do with Zoey, but she's certainly getting some good TV Time.
The longer Zoey is there the happier I am
1st two seasons are brilliant. It's all downhill from there.
