Television How I Met Your Mother

I thought the reason he left House was because he joined Obama's team? Good to see him back on TV again. Hope he can make it a bit interesting. For me, the only the carrying it these days is Barney. The story does nothing at all for me at this point, and although Marshall has his moments Lily just screws up everything. I hate that character, and in the latest episode, like GingerPrince pointed out, it was perhaps the most cringeworthy TV moment I've ever witnessed.

And that's coming from someone who likes to turn on an episode of Home & Away after I get home from work.

And Penn joining full time is good. I thought it's just a one episode thing

WOW, after years of watching this show, that's the first time I seen his name. Its no wonder, that the other 4 cast members have done other projects, while I dont think he's done/doing anything on the side. Lily is such a bad character, she didn't ruin the episode, and the way she says "son of a bitch" is so cringe-worthy.

Radnor wrote, directed and starred in happythankyoumoreplease which was horrendous despite having Buster Bluth in it.

I've only seen the season premiere but I thought it was pretty good. Can't weigh in on anything else but Robin looked shit in the opening episode so far.

Its so bad now its unreal. There are literally no laughs now in it and with Robin not looking as hot as she used to its fast losing its appeal.

Lily is incredibly annoying, Robin isn't hot and Barney's jokes are boring and old now.

Yep, about 2-3 seasons too long for "How I met your Mother". The writer's should just have gotten it over and done with and call it Now I met your Mother.

I'm convinced/sure the fans would much rather have preferred a different, yet funny/original storyline, as opposed to recycling the same stories/jokes over and over.

The really funny thing is that HIMYM's viewing figures are still excellent. Much better than most other shows.

Hsve to say, the newest episode was actually pretty funny throughout, which I haven't been able to say about to show in ages.

Marshall and Ted wandering around the stadium for ages only for it to actually be about 2 minutes was great, very clever.

I mean, it has gotten progressively worse, but I just can't not watch it, it's a demon.

It has turned into garbage. Why are the even pretending that the bride is anyone else than Robin is beyond me. Actually bride may be someone else possibly Nora but then you wil have Robin crashing it and getting back with Barney, welcome to friends circa 98? At least they did it first and better.

As already mentioned Ted constantly refers to Robin as "aunt Robin" when talking to his kids. It's also been mentioned that he hasn't actually yet met the mother, although they've been in the same places several times. There's also the episode where he dates the mother's roommate and finds out that he has a lot in common with the mother.

The really funny thing is that HIMYM's viewing figures are still excellent. Much better than most other shows.

People got sucked in by a some brilliant seasons at the start of the show, and the premise for the show is a quite clever one to be honest (compared to most other sitcoms which doesn't really have a "goal"), so people are simply watching it for the story now. They've watched the show for 7 years so they don't want to miss the ending.

Exact same for me, because of what I wrote above. I mainly just watch HIMYM each week to follow the story now and anything funny is a bonus. I don't usually get annoyed by characters, but Lily is starting to piss me off. Her contribution the past few seasons is just repeating the same line (such as "you son of a bitch") 10+ times during an episode in some fecked up voice.

I actually feel a bit bad for the writers. It's pretty obvious that the show was never meant to run this long, but the viewing figures means that the network wants to milk it. The writers exhausted all proper story-lines which should lead to the mother, so they're just doing filler episodes each week now, with sort of pointless and only slightly funny side-stories. A couple of episodes like that each season is fine, especially as such episodes previously were among the best (some of the Barney story-lines have been fantastic), but when you build whole seasons on it, it's not really going to last. And definitely not when they can't come up with any fun side-stories either. I just hope this season is the last.

I'm just about ready to give up with HIMYM now. This new season has been awful, bar one or two moments, and for a show that use to insist it was not a FRIENDS rip-off, it's pretty much all but gone that way now.

It's a shame really... as this use to be one of my favourite shows back during seasons 2, 3 and 4... how things have changed since then.

Errrr I meant the bride for Barney not Ted

Just browsed a bit on imdb and found my way to the bird that played Nora this series.. I think she's the woman of my dreams.

Nazanin Boniadi

Born in Tehran at the height of the Iranian Revolution, her parents relocated to London shortly thereafter, where Nazanin was raised with an emphasis on education. By the age of ten her passion for the arts was already in full bloom when she received a merit from the Royal College of Music for playing the violin, a certificate in ballet from the Vaccani School of Dance, and won the British "Yamaha Electone Festival" for her proficiency on the electric organ. After appearing in numerous high school productions, Nazanin earned her first TV credit briefly hosting the UK's then popular children's TV show Early Bird.

Determined to rebuild the lifestyle her parents once enjoyed in their homeland, Nazanin decided to put her artistic dreams aside and instead focused on achieving a more "stable" and "secure" life as a physician. Nazanin moved to the United States to attend the University of California Irvine, where she won the competitive "Chang Pin Chun" Undergraduate Research Award (for her work in heart-transplant rejection and cancer research), and earned her Bachelor's Degree, with Honors, in Biological Sciences. Equipped with the confidence that she is capable of succeeding at anything she sets her mind to, Nazanin was no longer daunted by the prospect of pursuing her true calling- the performing arts.

How talented can one person be?

Trivia from that page.
  • She was born in Tehran, Iran, and raised in London, England.
  • She is the great great granddaughter of famed 19th Century Persian *********** and poet, Safi Ali Shah.
  • She graduated with Honors from the University of California Irvine, where she received a Bacholor's Degree in Biological Sciences.
  • Fluent in both English and Farsi.
  • Completed an intensive course in Contemporary Drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2009.
  • She is a human rights activist and an Official Spokesperson for Amnesty International USA.
  • She appeared opposite George Clooney in a 2011 commercial spot for Nespresso, called "The Swap", directed by Grant Heslov.

Honestly she is gorgeous

The last episode was absolutely wank. Basically, if an episode/movie/shatever can be summed up with "it was just a dream" or "he/she just imagined it" you should just accept that M. Night Shylmalkhan (or whatever) already did it, and go back to the drawing board.

Or in the case of Dallas, Sheikmalan hadn't already done it, but it was still a bad idea.

Robin has been wearing too many pairs of jeans and not enough skirts imo. Even Lily used to flounce around in skirts and boots in the first few series. They arent strong enough characters to be anything other than eye candy and every other episode should involve them getting drunk and kissing.

Was just going to post that myself. I've been putting up with this show for a while now despite it not making me laugh, purely for the sake of finding out who the mother is but I dont really know if I can keep going anymore.

This... and

Barney is the only character keeping this series slightly watch-able.

This... with emphasis on the word slightly.

I laugh more when watching New Girl then I do when watching this show... and considering I only watch New Girl to drool over Zooey Deschanel... that is saying something

Isn't it true that robin is found to be unable to bare children and the whole narrative is actually speaking to there unborn children?

Massive spoiler.

I heard something like that not long ago, apparently a lot of viewers were very pissed.

The writers on this show are absolutely awful, there's not even an attempt anymore to make it funny. As for barney, his jokes got boring very quickly for me.

Like others I'm only watching this to find out who the mum is but it feels like a chore. Did they have a change in writers? As the drop in quality after season 5 was huge.

Huh? It was made clear on the very first episode that Robyn isn't the mother.
