Yeah we heard the same thing said about Di Maria. You're just as stupid if you think he's a sure thing.
All i know is di Maria had no intention of joining us, but was literally forced to as RM wanted to maximise his transfer fee after his MOM performance in the CL final. Everyone and his dog knew he wanted PSG. The break-in to his house gave him an easy excuse to turn in even worse performances. There are no parallels to this transfer and di Maria's. So basically, your post is a moot point, and totally invalid. Guess you voted 'do not want' :smirk:

You can say what you like about Mata but at least he has PL experience and knows how to cope with the pace of the league. He is not even a Right winger so why is Mkhitaryn even his replacement?

This new player will still need time to adjust to playing for United and also playing in the PL. How long he will take is anyone's guess but fact is other top players struggled to hit the ground running in first season. Soit is during that period when your new signings are still adjusting and struggling with change of environment that you need those with PL experience to help the team

Manchester is not for everyone, it may suit Aguero and Rojo and Zabaleta seem happy but obviously ADM didnt like it.

I don't think Mata is a natural player for the right wing, but given Mourinho has stated no.10 is his most important position, I don't see Mata being deployed there. Which means if Jose were to ever use Mata it would probably be on the wing.

So much discussion regards his pace in this thread.

Beckham excelled on the right side of midfield without being blessed with exceptional pace or dribbling abilities. Positional sense and footballing qualities trump pace.

Being perhaps the greatest crosser of a ball we've ever seen made up for the lack of pace. I've not seen much of this guy but if he is one paced there'll have to be something very special in the rest of his game to compensate.

I agree, mate. But, those players you just quoted actually 'wanted' to join City. di Maria probably said to himself, "Hey, Manchester Utd are the biggest club in England, not a bad choice for a season, PSG next year" and fecked off, plus downing tools when it got tough. Micky on the other hand wants to join us, pretty much desperate and is at his peak. That's why i think this will be a winner. Let's not forget the LvG effect though.

He isn't even slow like Becks.

Becks wasn't even slow and his engine meant he never stopped running either. His dribbling was underrated too (albeit he was never brilliant at it, not like he was going past players at will or anything).

Hope he turns out better than Kagawa did.

Aye, Beckham wasn't slow, average would be fair, I guess. Still, with his vision, passing and crossing he didn't much need it.

Perfect signing. We don't need world beaters (even tho for 9 months lst year he was one). We need disciplined players that can play in mourinhos defensive style, work hard and press high. Could be an absolute key player for us.

Anyone shine any light on injury record?

Becks also forged a great partnership with Neville. Defensively and his great timing at overlapping in the attacking third. It's vitally important Mkhi gets an understanding going very early in his United career. Memphis looked a shadow of a footballer once Shaw got injured.

Four of last season's best signings didn't have premier league experience(De Bruyne,Payet ,Martial and Kante)

De Bruyne hardly played at Chelsea so doesn't really count.

Can people stop using this cliche'd and quite frankly poor argument?

I've voted undecided.

Nothing against the player or his abilities. I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to wingers. I've always loved watching line hugging wingers who waltz past defenders with dribbling skills and pace.

My god, Caf at times......

If Mkhitaryan is slow then so is Griezmann, Rues etc. because there isn't much difference between them in terms of speed. When it should be his wastefulness in front of the goal as well as his physicality, people are instead concerned about his pace on here.

Even so, we can bring in a winger like that (not that they exist these days of real quality) and play Mkhitaryan as the 10. With his pace and work rate, creativity and goal threat, he'll work out and be a huge improvement whatever the position.

There's not many of them around.

Disappointing Bayern were allowed to get Coman and Costa without a battle.

Why the feck are people discussing his pace? Have people ever watched him? He is fast as feck when running with the ball. No prime valencia, sure, but who is? Faster then de bruyne comfortably, and will add loads of pace to our attack. His speed is a plus without a doubt, no idea why some are questioning it.

Not seen loads but from what I've seen, looks decent. Just the transfer fee looks a lot of money for a player who can discuss Bosmans in 6 months - feels like our transfer negotiations (in and out) for last few seasons haven't been as hard as could be and before someone else says it, yes I know it's not my money and I know United are rich.

No one knows either.

Same here.
Although Mkhitaryan isn't that kind, in fact he isn't an out-and-out winger, there aren't many top players who are available and would improve our team. Mkhitaryan is one of those very few players, he wants to come here and he's coming off his best ever season. Also Jose attended Dortmund's game, so he must have a plan for Mkhitaryan. We've to trust him and hope he isn't buying him for the sake of it.

There is nobody better in world football at looking at a squad, realising what is needed and buying a player who can do that straight off the bat than Mourinho. That doesn't necessarily mean that player will play in the same way he did at previous clubs, for instance Fabregas played a completely different position for Chelsea than Barca, but Mourinho knew he could do what he needed for the team, I'm confident mkh... will add pace, creativity and chaos to our attacking line and improve us immensely. Think he will be on the right wing though as its a position we need sorting more than 10 or lw.

Not able to control my excitement at this moment. Most of the caf posters reaction to @slig, after tolerating his posts on this thread for the past few weeks:

What would be a perfect caf player?

Has pace, can play on both wings and at nr. 10, possibly as a striker, not too old (28 is too old), must have potential but not to be raw, must stay and not wish to go to Madrid anytime soon..

Anything else?

I've also voted undecided, I just honestly don't know enough about him or have seen enough of him to make a proper opinion. If Jose wants him, then that will do for me.

Isn't he more of an outside forward than a winger?
the best description of him would be attacking midfielder. extremely multifunctional player: has enough pace to play wide, good passer and dribbler, very two footed, good workrate and stamina, and very defensively aware. Only big knock on him is that his finishing can be very wasteful at times and that he requires a high comfort level to perform at his best. A good comparison to him would be that he is a lesser Pavel Nedved.

Must be able to do a job in goal, just in case.

He is very two footed and strong crossing, really could have a good link up whipping it in to zlatan

He was my dream signing back in the day.

Here's hoping he's played in his best position at the number 10. Can't wait to see some of that link up play. It will do wonders for our attacking play.
