Not really, United generate around 10% of revenue in Euros, it will be more in 2015-2016 due to CL money and around 30% in usd. It's not like the club will convert pounds.
United would not exchange euros, the club has extensive amount of euros and us dollars from our operations, that we can use. The only thing that will rise is cited pound cost in papers. United would still pay 40m euros, if the deal will go ahead as they would have had.

But now he's a £50m player. So doubt we will pay that.

Sterling dropped 8% against the euro so would be about £33m if €40m.

It's not been great news today (my point of view) but people need to stop panicking and scaremongering. It might get a bit worse and take a year to recover the pound value.

Panic because we'll have to make do with what we have. No more buying.

Exactly. Everyone seems to be losing their shit over Brexit right now when in truth, no-one actually knows what impact it will have on signing new players from abroad.

The strength of the pound fluctuates every day anyway doesn't it? It will recover. Let's not forget the state of the Euro at one time either.

I'm sure United were sensible enough to understand the political situation tied in with the football situation. They were holding these transfers out in hope that if we remain then the pound would be worth more which obviously means that transfers would cost less.

Obviously that didn't happen so I can see transfers speeding up, but that's hypothetical.

I think as someone else mentioned, United will have money in different currencies so it should effect anything as the can pay in Euro's to save a bit dosh and juggle the money later. Only slowing effect that i would forsee would be if they were taking stock of the situation and planning strategy accordingly.

Our dollar inflows were primarily from Nike and they were matched against the dollar interest payments. I'm sure the Adidas contracts are denominated in euros or pounds. The dollar interest payments are presumably hedged, so I can't think why we'd have a stack of dollars lying around. There are no free lunches here. Even if we have commercial contracts denominated in, say, dollars, using the dollars to buy euros reduces the (pound) cash flow to United by just the same amount that using devalued pounds to buy the euros would cost.

These summer tourney's are playing havoc with the transfer market. My guess is things will really pick up in the next week or so and then probably die down again during the Olympics.. only to pick up again until the period ends!

Bild saying they reckon this will be announced in July
Screen-Shot-2016-06-24-at-12.17.21.png

German newspaper Bild are becoming quite fond of the Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United rumour. Not only does it give them the chance to talk about that particular possibility, but it also widens the road for other domestic rumours.

As is often the case, German international Andre Schurrle has been dragged into proceedings. He’s a player who could in theory replace Mkhitaryan at Borussia Dortmund, and Bild say Thomas Tuchel has already initiated contact.

Bild say Mkhitaryan to Manchester United is now more likely, and they claim the club are only €4m away from a deal. That figure was mentioned by Bild on Thursday too, with them covering English claims of a €36m bid, and referred to their own idea of €40m being acceptable for Dortmund.

The newspaper say that as things looks right now, Mkhitaryan to Manchester United is likely in July.

Bild don’t appear to have much more to base their claims on other than assumption, and they don’t claim to. Comments from Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola appeared to firm up Manchester United interest, and at least made it clear the player would like the move.

The €40m figure as an acceptable price has come from the German media and spread around Europe, but, again, that may have been educated guesswork from Bild, and perhaps Dortmund don’t even fully know their pain threshold at this stage.

He is not a "pound" player, he never was and never would have been. United will pay euros to Dortmund from clubs euros account.

Jesus, guys, am i the only one who has dollar, euros bank deposits and use them in travels instead of exposing myself to bsnk commissions and unfavorable currency conversion rates? Come on, it's 21 century already.

I was thinking the same thing  it's like everyone thinks we are clueless

I just have a revolut card, much easier.

Whatever the currency, would welcome this transfer with open arms. Last season's horrorshow with about two chances per game left me in a sad state. It's great to feel hope and actually look forward to a United game again. Mourinho, Bailly and Mkhitaryan is an amazing start imo. (assuming this is happening)

I guess another club will come in and pay the asking price and then Utd will say we were never interested in the player. The signs are ominous.

Aren't those guys quite reliable?

It will be a massive joke if we don't get him now. Quabbling over 3 million is something only United can do.

€40m for a player of his calibre is good business, whether or not if he had one year left on his contract. This is a guy that was one of the best players in the league last season.

The league that consists of Aubameyang, Muller, Lewnadowski, Costa. We cannot pass this up.

United transfer fees it is always one of two things

1) OMG we paid too much, why do we get taken for such mugs. Woodie needs to learn to negotiate

or

2) OMG why are we negotiating just pay the price the want and get the guy. Why are we such mugs?

Micky for £32M is great business when you consider reports that Soton want £40M for Mane.

Forget the transfer fee.. The wages are going to hurt us now.
Zlatan will want 800k/week. This guy would probably demand 500k/week.

the pound is worthless now.

So true - just depends on if the player in question is rated by the poster or not for which one they'll pick.

At wages of more than £100k per week it makes financial sense to complete the deal as late as possible as it costs a shit load more to have him on the books through the summer.

Its hard to a imagine a club worth of billion pounds will have that mentality.Only a shop owner will have that mentality.

I'm sure the attorneys that draft up the contracts take into consideration that a player doesn't collect a paycheck until training begins. If he signed this week, and players didn't have to report for two more weeks, we're not going to pay him £200k to go on holiday. The contact would probably state his pay begins when he reports for training. The flip side to signing a player at the end of the windows is that the player is not acclimated to his new team and possible already played with his old team. 2-3 weeks could go by before he gets a start. Best to sign him as soon as possible in my opinion.

Not when you consider in the next week, those that were not on international duty are supposed to be coming back and starting pre-season training. Plus, probably more of a risk to delay over saving a small amount of money in the grand scheme of things.
