Not really. Just didn't have a sharp edge going forward, unlike at Dortmund. He was nice and tidy and helped us keep the ball ala Mata but didn't have an impact on the scoreline often enough. Hopefully Miki can continue playing a level or two above like last night.

Nah. Kawasaki always looked two tired to play in PL.

"Two tired", "invisible"

He averaged over 41 passes a game for us in 12/13 and over 39 in 13/14.

Mata is just over 45 for us this season and he's playing well.

Kagawa simply didnt look a threat to goal often enough for us, either with his own efforts or setting up others. He was involved plenty, helped us keep the ball but needed to find another level to convert that into helping us get the points more often.

:wenger: Whoosh

Would anybody else like to have seen an attacking midfield of full flow di Maria, full flow Nani and Mkhitaryan + Ronaldo counter attack teams all day long? Just me..?

No it sounds horrible. I also hate the thought of banging Margot Robbie

Good game from his last night. Sometimes i feel he is so eager to impress, he just tries too hard.

Hopefully he can get more playing times, alongside Mata. I want to see martial in there too.

Not a flawless display by Mkhi, but easily as good as anything any of our other wide players aside have produced all season, Mata aside.

Just finished the match and great to see Miki's performance...was involved in a lot of the build up play....Alexi Lalas that ginger cnut can feck right off...only person who hates Miki more than Mourinho.

The man is JUNK. We should be hoping for someone to buy him for something close to what we paid for him. That would be the best piece of business since buying Eric Cantona.
Knows his shit.

Thought it was a pretty rubbish first half, but a very decent second half. Overall I would describe the performance as "promising"

He was decent. Had some good moments and his instinct to attack and some of his interplay was refreshing to see. However it wasn't anything spectacular and both Pogba and Rooney had a better game. Caf piling on the MOM votes is bias at its very best and the desperation that he is really good. No harm though.

Loads already said. The thing for me is the fit and balance he brings to the team, plus the obvious technical ability that wouldn't look out of place if he had a Barca, Bayern or Real shirt on.

This is the quality of signings we need going forward.

He went from mentally weak boy to the second coming of George Best in the space of two pages

This, I hadn't come to this thread in a while so my first page was full of people slating him. haha was pretty confused and now on this page hes absolutely amazing

For someone with limited game time and plenty of speculation and doubt over him, that was a very good, solid performance. Looked creative and wasn't afraid to attempt things. He didn't put in a 10/10 out of this world performance but I was delighted to see a bit of creativity last night going forward. The link up play he was involved in at times was lovely to watch. Hopefully he gets a run out V West Ham this weekend at some point and shows the same intensity :)

Zlatan really should have scored from that through ball so he would have got an assist at least. He himself had chances to score too though. I hope he plays his way into the team now, especially with Rashfor and Martial so out of form

what position did he play for you last night?
Seemed to be alternating from left, right and centre.

Started on the left side, then swapped with Rooney for a bit in the middle. Went on the right side a few times while Mata went inside also.

Pretty much had the freedom to do what he wanted in attack which was nice.

He is played today in his natural position as number 10, which helped his performance. He doesn't have the skill-set to be played as a winger, which was his role in his previous matches.

He can play on the wing. Not sure what matches you're talking about. He played 45 mins vs City most likely with an injury and thats it, oh and I think about 20 mins in another game.

There must have been issues in training/attitude or something with Mourinho. Only hope its sorted now and he can play

Very good performance last night, had a point to prove and you could tell. Should have got an assist for Zlatan. May have earned himself a start against West Ham in either or both games.

The last few pages of this thread have been great reading, now we've all calmed down we can see some level headed comments

Just to play devils advocate, Lingard came on and scored a nice goal. Does he deserve to start ahead? Here we go..

For the record, fecking autocorrect changed Kagawa to Kawasaki!

Does anyone else feel Shaw didn't help Mikhitaryan's cause too much in the first half?
Shaw wasn't looking for overlaps or getting forward as much on the left (taking defenders with him) so when the ball came to Mikhitaryan he only had the option of passing back to the centre. In the second half where Mikhitaryan drifted into the centre and onto the right he really showed what he is capable of.
Maybe it was just me but I'd be interested to see what people think

I though he was very impressive, especially considering the amound of playing time he's had in the last 6 months.

I noticed this too. There were a few moments when Mhiki made decent movement down the left but was completely ignored by Shaw.

Totally agree. To come back from exile and put in a performance like that really takes some strength of character. Was fantastic to watch.

I wrote in the match day thread that Shaw seemed a bit attack shy. Because Miki kept cutting in, there was much space on the left to attack and I felt a Van Gaal-start of season-Shaw would've been a nice compliment
