Him for Lingard would do absolute wonders to our squad. Shame Jose forced him into the City game when he was clearly not fit.

Where is he? We really need him to hit the ground running after the international break.

I hope he's not playing for Armenia in the international break, he needs a decent run of games. I think he's an upgrade on Lingard at RW and possibly better than Mata at 10. Moreover, he will add quality to our side whether that will be in the EL on Thursday night or on the following Sunday. I'm willing to be patient though, with any luck he'll hit his best form in time for Christmas or in January.

My concern here is that he could just be another Kagawa. Dortmund players just dont seem to travel well - Nuri, Kagawa, Goetze. We really need to bed him in asap, or he'll lose confidence, and become another failed transfer, much like a lot of our transfers over the last few years.

He was absolute quality for Shakhtar too. He does however have a track record of needing time to settle in so we are certainly likely to not see him at his best this season.

Does anyone actually know what's going on with him? I've been really excited to see him play, especially after that cameo against Hull, but nothing. He'd of been ideal today and a fantastic addition to our forward play.

No because I don't give two shits about the Armenian national team and the last time he played for them he picked up an injury.
So he needs a run of games (I assume to get his match fitness up) but you're hoping he doesn't play for his national team? That sounds counter productive to me.
Also If he was injured on international duty what was he doing, playing in the Machester derby?

Yeah, I think even at Dortmund he only really excelled in his second season. Not that he had a bad first season. He just wasn't anywhere near as consistent. Apparently he's an extreme introvert (or so I read).

I just hope he shows good form after a consistent run out in the side, soon. He's a bit more physical and versatile than Mata - so if Martial and Mkhi can hit some form, the attack could really be transformed.

Don't want the same thing to happen to him again, he can start out coming off the bench then hopefully start from the bench. I don't know how close he is to full fitness but I wouldn't him risked in international matches. In hindsight he should have never started the City game. I suppose sub appearances for Armenia wouldn't hurt.

An in form Mikhi on the right with Martial on the left will raise us a level at least. Hope he gets going soon.

Withdrawn from International duty on the request of United so he can continue his rehabilitation on his thigh injury.

I am incredibly excited at the prospect of seeing him in the number 10 position against weaker teams at home. If he performs anywhere close to good form in that position, I can see us racking up wins on a consistent basis and climbing up the league. I have doubts about him away from home against more challenging opponents though.. as more likely he would be deployed out wide.

A creative midfield of Martial/Pogba/Mkhitaryan/Rashford behind Zlatan should be special. I hope he isn't another sunk cost like the other #10s we end up buying.

I can't believe his stats from last season. He had 11 goals and 20 assists in the Bundesliga. 23 goals and 32 assists overall.

Me too.

United confirmed he will stay at Manchester and will not take part in Armenia's next two qualifying matches. Happy to hear that.

Thank god, hopefully we'll see a sub appearance v Liverpool. Let's not make the same mistake we did against City by starting him.

Mkhitaryan has been sensational in training according to Custis just now on MUTV. Let's hope that he is fully ready to go after the international break.

We really need him to come back into the team and start getting into form. He would be a huge improvement over Lingard, he is better than Lingard in every aspect.

I disagree. I think he'll have a cracker against Liverpool if he plays.

I don't want to see him against Liverpool. At all.

Mourinho laid into Mkhitaryan after the City game for lacking the character to play in such a high pressure match. He's also know to be an extreme introvert. There's no way he should be playing in stressful derbies like this one. At least not until he's got used to playing in red.

Except having actually put in a single good 90 minute performance for Manchester United, ever.

Which is not to bash Miki. He's not had the chance, and of course he should end up in the first XI soon. But I don't see why calling for his inclusion should necessitate Lingard-bashing. The kid only went and won us the FA cup and the community shield and yet he gets worse treatment on here than Rooney.

LOL i found it funny and odd too.

Of course I hope he becomes successful. But, miki is nowhere near to get hyped like this based on NOTHING for us.

Put him in at 10, feel he can offer more than Mata
Mata/Lingard interchange dependant on opponent

I don't enjoy bashing our players, I'm just saying it the way I see it. Mkhi hasn't had the chance to show us anything yet, other than a few sub appearances. He played a half against City but he wasn't even fit to play and it was a stupid decision on Mourinho's part. So I'm not going to hold something against Mkhi when he hasn't even had the chance yet. He is a far better player than Lingard based on what he showed for Dortmund last season (and over his career). As an academy product, I have a soft spot for Lingard but a player of his caliber shouldn't be starting consecutive games for us. I'm grateful for his FA cup winner and other goals but his performances are more poor than good.

You seem to be missing the fact that he is a new shiny toy we just got this summer and Lingard is a disgusting bloke who is so boring he even comes from our own academy!

He's like a not so secret weapon that we haven't fully unleashed yet. When he and Martial are both in the team and flying we could just be spectacular!

Just watched a highlights clip of him vs Spurs from a season or 2 ago and he looked bloody good, absolutely everywhere, tore them to shreds, don't ask me where he was playing, it looked all over the place to me and if he can pull out some of the form he showed in those clips we'll have some player on our hands.

It just seems odd that you would say 'he is a huge improvement over Lingard, he is a better player in every regard' when, by your own admission, his only serious football for us has been one very poor half, whereas Lingard has done so well for us recently. It's a bit of a Football Manager sort of attitude. I agree that Miki is a brilliant player, but let's wait until he's actually played some football for us before using him as a stick to beat a footballer who is currently playing and succeeding and winning us trophies.

When did Lingard last do so well for us? A couple of decent showings so far this season by my reckoning and that's about it.

Really hope Mkhi kicks on after the internationals and cements his place. He'll be a joy to watch if he settles.
