We have 5 players who are best in the AM role in a 433 or a #10 role.
As you say we can only play one.

Pogba,Herrera,Mata,Rooney,Mkhitaryan.

Major squad imbalance.

Herrera is best as a CM tbh and Rooney is best on the bench

Herrera can play an 8, Pogba is less a #1 and more box to box, but with Rooney they run on top of each other.
 
According yup physio room site he should be back for game against Leicester. With marital injured he might start with Rashford as left winger.
 
If we can get Mkhitaryan and Martial going this season, we will be fine.

why is there sudden acceptance that hes a number 10? His best season was at RW and we were in the greatest need for that position so surely thats where he will play the majority of his games. Is it purely a stylistic thing where because hes small and fast hes immediately labelled a 10 i just dont get the obsession with positions on the Caf.
 
The roles should be clear, imo:

Carrick/Schneiderlin(DM) = protect the defense and keep the ball in the team.
Herrera(CM) = creative CM who's fine-tuning our play while running from box to box.
Pogba(ACM) = driving the ball forward as far as possible, before releasing it to an attacker in a better position or taking a shot himself. Little defensive responsibility.
Rashford/Martial(LW) = speed and flair.
Mkhitaryan(RW) = versatile and offensive playmaker who's allowed to drift around the field freely.
Zlatan(CF) = goal-getter.

Rashford/Martial(whoever doesn't start) and Lingard to be our impact subs. Memphis should be given a fair chance as well(one season isn't enough for a player his age). Fellaini can also prove to be useful.
 
Any news on his injury?
Would be nice if he could at least make the bench against Leicester and get some minutes in the second half.

No, that's because he started as a 10 for Shakhtar, at Dortmund he wasn't playing as a winger, he started there but was allowed to move everywhere and very often in the middle and he isn't a winger.

But the point is he can and did play starting from the RW last season more often than not and can easily do the same for us. That will become even more possible in a 4-3-3 where the space from the number 10 is vacated allowing Mkhitaryan to drift inside.

Henrik is an attacking midfielder not a winger, so like you suggested starting him wide in a 4-3-3 can easily work because there is vacated room inside but it's an other story with a 4-2-3-1 where that room doesn't exist. That's why people want to see him play as a #10 when we use that role.
 
Will he be fit for Thursday?

Could really do with him getting up to speed soon.
 
Think he'll start on thursday. Hard to drop any of the front 4 against stoke so gives a chance to miki to get some time mid week, maybe 60 minutes and be subbed off to ease him back. Then he could come on against stoke and build up from there.

Fit for thursday! Hope he starts and has a good game. Him adapting to the team and taking Lingard's place and adding even more quality to us would be fantastic.
