Hector Herrera

Continued the game as if nothing happened. Can do it on a cold snowy night in Stoke.

That really was incredible - how he didnt get sent off i will never know!

Mexico ace Hector Herrera has not yet held talks about a move to England, with Manchester United and Liverpool both interested.

The 22-year-old Pachuca midfielder is believed to be wanted by both Manchester United and Liverpool following an impressive display at the Olympics.

Herrera insists he is not in discussions with any club, but admits he has read about the interest and would relish the chance to move to Europe.

"The truth is that so far I know nothing about what is happening, I am not aware," he told Raza Deportiva.

"From what I've heard, there has been some news, but I have had no approach from the Pachuca club president or the people from Manchester.

"If given the opportunity to emigrate to European football of course I'd go but I have wait to see what the club officials say."

Herrera has only been in Pachuca's first-team for the last 12 months and he admits to being shocked by his rapid rise.

"I did not expect it so soon, I did not expect these big clubs to be tracking me after such a short time, but this is the result of the sacrifices I have made."

Pachucha's sporting director Andres Fassi has been quoted claiming both United and Liverpool have registered their interest.

"We know he's going to emigrate to England. Manchester United and Liverpool have talked to us," he said.

"We want him to continue with Pachuca. But when he decides to leave, the club will give him the opportunity to do so."

Herrera did play down claims that he has talked with United's Javier Hernandez about moving.

"No, as I said, there wasn't any approach or any talks. And I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know Chicharito," he said.

This is a strange one. The player says he's heard nothing; while Pachua's sporting director claims he'll be off to England.

I guess it a typical United transfer is the player denies a move  Ala, Kagawa and De Gea.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) is apparently a reliable source regarding Mexican football, as the name obviously suggests. I'll post a few of his tweets regarding Herrera:

Would love to see Herrera in EPL. Think he has better chance of succeeding than most Mex players.

I´d describe Herrera as a box-to-box central midfielder. Big engine. Gets up and down the field.

Big fan of Herrera. Don´t think he did himself justice in the Olympics.Getting annoyed at the British press calling him a winger

Pluses are his stamina, ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch. Negative I would say is lack of consistency so far.

Herrera had cartilage probin right knee after Olympics. Nothing serious. Had surgery last week. Out for 2-3 weeks

Herrera is 22. He´s a real all-rounder. Reminds me a little bit, stylewise, of Bryan Robson. An all-action midfielder.

The movement for his goal starts at 3:15.

Here, he made the assist.

22-year-old Hector Herrera has only played 27 games in Mexican 1st div - 1,999 mins in total. Pachuca mid has 0 goals and 2 red cards.

Herrera denied knowledge of United interest but unlikely he knows nothing: Pachuca´s chief scout M Garcés has been in Manchester for talks.

Here's a good one:
Pachuca chief scout Marco Garcés is same that recommended Chicharito to United. Garcés was studying at Uni of Liverpool at the time.

Worth pointing out that while Hector Herrera is undoubtedly a massive talent, he´s played less than 2,000 mins in Mexico´s first division.

So any Mexicans that can tell us why he hasnt played much? I remember them suggesting before that sometimes in Mexico young players arent given many chances. Same reason again?

Mr. Lee_Lemon from the newbies sent me this:

Only recently have gems from mexican academies started to surface after new mnt coach De La Torre insisted teams stop ignoring the academy. Also he had US international and team captian Jose torres ahead of him, so he really wasn't going to displace him no mater how good he was lol.

PS: Ekeke empty your inbox people message me to get to you.

I would rather Dembele in all honesty. We have enough 'projects' in the middle.. he seems like another.

I'll never understand why people would make compilations of every single touch of a certain player in a game when he's been pretty average in said match.

Underwhelming.

Maybe some people would like the opportunity to analyse a player even when he's not performed at his best?

Do you think United's scouts only bother to take notes on a player they're watching when that player has had the game of his life?

Thats it, i think you would learn more about a player's attitude and character by how he responds to a game where things don't always go his way.

Everyone looks good on their best day, when you are having a stinker, if you can still roll your sleeves up and do a job for the team, then for me that's a huge plus point too.

Check ITV news article saying that Liverpool have joined the race for Hector Herrera. Embarassing.

Yes, someone bothers himself to make a highlight reel of a certain player with the typical awful 'look how cool this player is' type of pop as background music, uploads it onto the net CLEARLY with the objective of being able to conveniently 'analyse' said player later on youtube in his silk bathrobe and slippers whilst cradling his glass of red wine round and round.

Or more likely, he thought he was showing a player he liked off in typical tube style, with the typical shite music but without the spectacular footage.

It's not a notion anyone with a passing interest in player watching should find any difficulty understanding tbh.

'player watching'

Insufferable snob.

Keep making the Youtube highlight videos chaps. It keeps our transfer forum muppets in the know.

What's this shit?

I think they've been linked with him as long as we have, which is for a while now (before the current rumours)

You not read the bit at the bottom? They quoted one of them agents on twitter.

he looks like he will be miles better than jones in midfield, and will be comfortable in a 3 in midfield aswell, he likes to get into space to recieve the pass, i reckon he will strike a good understanding with kagawa, if we sign him. Kagawa was constantly asking for the ball against everton, but we kept our stale passing to the wings. a new face is what we might just need, and he looks as good as cleverly, if he can do defensive duties, then all the better.

Maybe I've misunderstood Dembele but I always thought he was a winger/striker? This fella seems like a totally different type of player.

According to a lot of folks he was playing much deeper for Fulham in the second half of last season.

Abort thread.

Fergie says we're signing no one. Abort.
It's too bad, I was starting to warm to this Hector Herrera.

I didn't exactly expect us to sign him, or any other CM, since you know we've already brought in Kagawa, RvP, Powell, Henriquez and Buttner, but the situation in this transfer window has constantly been changing, and due to all the shit that went down I actually allowed my self to hope for a CM signing, and ofcourse as soon as I did that, it's confirmed to not be a possibility xD

to be fair, i was also surprised with buttner transfer. Integrating 4 new players into the squad can be quite demanding let alone 5 or 6.

Midfielders are the devils spawn.

We don't need them its been so long now I dont know if Fergie would know one if one fell in his lap.

We will struggle once again against quality opposition with our midfield - fergies answer is to buy RVP. Thing is RVP thrives on balls throuhg the middle but we are set up for balls out from wide and crossed in.
