Have we signed anyone yet? | Yes, with stupid tax

After the weekend thumping im absolutely amazed that its Wednesday and no business has been done.

I thought we would bring someone in quick, if only to lift the mood and keep the transfer muppets happy.

Fair play though for not getting held hostage by Rabiot's mum. That is a good sign that perhaps we are done with paying big wages for players who are seen as a risk.

Either the club was massively scammed by FDJ who possibly told us he would sign only to put pressure on Barcelona, or the board were absolute idiots trying to cling to a signing that had no assurances and a dwindling chance as time went on. Either way, it's starting to look comical. In the most important transfer window of the last decade, we've done almost nothing and the club is actively falling apart because of it.

The chance of having any initial impetus wasted. Two humiliating defeats to minnows. Still there is no transfer activity. Amazing.

this window gets more and more hilarious by the minute. I think most of us wouldve been fine with 3-4 signings and couldve been done by now if the club had any sort of ability to do things correct. 2 central midfield signings (one DM type one more creative deep option), one addition on the backline (preferrably a fb) to help transition to the way they want to play out from the back, and then one attacker to bolster the attack. Yes people wouldve been still wanting ddg gone at some point, and yes we would prob need more attackers in next window, but it wouldve been a start. Still couldve brought along talents like zidane and garnacho (who still havent featured even though the starters in those positions have sucked ass). Instead yet again we have no central midfield options, and are somehow worse than last year in that spot

The 3 in are OK. Thats it , first 2 games shows how inept this squad can be.

To not concentrate on CM first from the start of the window is criminal, and imo that's it we go with what we got players now know UTD could and are desperate to sign a CM agents are going to want top dollar and wages. That's apparently already happened with A. Rabiot?

The next 2 weeks or so is going to be full out or nothing if nothing comes in and ETH gets this lot anywhere near the top 6 he deserves Manager of the Century. Long few weeks lads

To not be focusing on a striker the day the greenwood voice recording was aired was criminal.

Its hard to predict what will happen in the next 2 weeks. Pulisic on a loan seems realistic all around. Doesn't seem to be any realistic midfielder target for us so I can see us not doing anything there. Can see Ronaldo leaving and us bringing someone else in on a panic deal, no idea who.

That's about it really. I don't see anything positive happening with us in what remains of the window.

I'm still not sure who our actual targets are. de Jong is the obvious one, everyone else seem like an afterthought.

I really wanted to believe in the "New United" and give the benefit of the benefit of doubt to Arnold, Murtough and Fletcher (whatever it is that he actually does..!?)
But its the same old story, lack of planning, lack of preparation, lack of vision, lack of competence, and here we are yet again, a total feck up of a window, with no idea which way to turn.

Absolutely right to fear another batch of dead wood incoming as panic levels reach code red.
Its just hard to believe how utterly incompetent this club is.
I'm unwillingly interrupting here, do not get me wrong. Looking at the club's performance, I'm not panicking at all. It's natural for this club in such a situation today, understanding the changes this club's been through for a decade. If there's any club in the world that can come back strong after the 1958 Berlin, It is Manchester United. The only answer to all other members here.

Nature will restore its balance, I believe.

It's not you that's the concern.
The concern is that the Club will panic buy once again, as they always do, and this is the reason why we are suddenly hearing about wild and random bids or enquiries for just about anything on two legs.
If we don't spunk away tens of Millions on tomorrow's deadwood, I'll be quietly amazed.

These last few days have been like putting on hour by hour updates on FM on transfer window day, pure scattergun chaos. Never known a summer like it.

Just went into the transfer tweets thread for the first time in ages. I've discovered that we've made offers but we haven't made offers, and that players are simultaneously considering them but also are not interested in the slightest.

It's all very clear.

That's their (the club) business. There is an owner who runs the Club, not us. To ensure, he needs to step up and make it correct for his own business, knowing the history and essential areas. I also feel the management and the owner are in the best position than us to put this Club on the right track. Yes, many mixed decisions are in place, and it's taking time. It is normal to maintain such a big club in this world and has a future. :)

And, I agree with you as well.

We are only getting one of the first two, mind you even that looks a miracle right now
Why? Casemiro is a ball winning DM, de Jong is a press-resistant CM, they can play together as their skills complement each other

Got a spare £130m then I take it
But there are rumours everywhere that we are buying 2 midfielders. Obviously it won’t be Casemiro and Caicedo (as they are both DMs) - should be one DM (Casemiro or Caicedo) and one CM (de Jong or perhaps SMS, although FDJ would be better)

We not buying anyone, don’t get your hopes up

Problem with Caicedo & SMS is feel it lacks that quality on the ball which De Jong provides

Agree. Of course Casemiro + FDJ would be ideal, but if to choose from 1) Casemiro + SMS and 2) Caicedo + FDJ, I would opt for 2)

Feels exactly like that Moyes window. Wonder who this seasons Fellaini will be ? I had my money on Rabiot but that looks dead in the water unless he reduces his wage demands or Juve subsidizes a part of it
We’ll end up going back to Rabiot and giving him what he wants

That would only take in the region of £210m then
Sell Rashford to PSG for 60, and it’s just 150. Then add Bissaka, Bailly and Garner (40 combined) and it’s 110 net. And we would also be able to offload McTominay (think 20m). Plus 2-3m for Tuanzebe and think 1-2m for some outgoing loans - and we are at 85m net spent for the trio

Cannot see us selling Rashford

The issue we had when it came to "priority" was every area of the team is absolutely awful.

- We conceded 57 goals so we know how bad the defence is, on paper only Varane is potentially up to standard and even he's been disappointing and injured all the time.
- We know how bad the midfield is + we lost Pogba/Matic
- Our attack was awful scoring just 57 last season + we lost a load of players. We had just 4 senior attackers in Ronaldo, Martial, Rashford and Sancho - initially it looked like Martial would leave and then it came out Ronaldo wanted to leave. Generally you want 2 senior players per position so we needed 2 attacking signings and that's if no one actually left.
- De Gea is awful

I agree signing 2 CM's before the season started would have made the most sense but it really seems like we were desparate to spunk our budget on just De Jong and hope that's enough. Only since the season started has it dawned on them that 1 CM won't be enough, and on top of that they've been taken for a ride by De Jong the whole time.

It really is farcical.

We really are leaving this one dangerously late.

The issue is if Ronaldo leaves we need a good replacement.

And then we've still not solved our right wing dilemma.. We needed 2 attacking signings even if no one left, if Ronaldo leaves it's imperative we get 2 new players in attack.
