I’ve been one of Maguires biggest critics at times, but feel it was fair and justified. If we could bottle this man’s mentality and determination to prove doubters wrong, I’d feed it to the likes of Rashford by the gallon!!!

Phenomenal performance today and has been a rock these past couple of weeks.

Today suited him, sat deep, defended his 18yd box incredibly well and had that bit of aggression back.

Fair play to him!

Fantastic today. Angry harry is what we need to see more of.

Love that he seems to have added some aggression and bite to his game. He looks the most composed I've seen him since his first season.

Harry is a tremendous soul. Love the guy. Gives his all. He was immense today. He’s devoted to the badge, his team mates and the true supporters. 10/10 - my MOTM, among about 6 other players. And indeed every one of them on the pitch today was a hero. Great work Amorim

no surprise hes thriving in the back 3, was at his best for england there too. suddenly wish he was a couple of years younger.

It’s just incredible to see this sort of development from someone you’d expect to be “dead” and “buried” by now after what have been some difficult years.

Just shows that sometimes all you need is confidence and someone that knows how to get the best out of you.

I’m so happy for him, keep this up!

I’m thoroughly enjoying seeing him be the monster rather than one of the keystone cops.

His transformation from where he dropped to is incredible. Brilliant bouncebackability

He's not exactly explosive, good chance be can keep this level for a while in my opinion

hopefully, hes only 31 so not bad, but i really like whats forming at the back. every succesful team is based on defence

I’m so happy we extended his contract. He has finally gotten himself back on track. Chuffed for him. Brilliant today.

Said this in the match day thread but he gets absolutely clattered by Havertz who is nowhere near the ball and the ref plays on. Scandalous stuff whilst Arsenal got every touch foul.

If that was anyone else but Maguire, who's tall and a dense physical specimen, that would be a concussion type of challenge.

More angry Maguire please, we need more of these sort of reactions in the team.

Yep and he isn't dependent on his pace either . Easily another 3-4 years. Never gets injured either

Was my motm. He was outstanding.
What are people smoking? Clearly MOTM was the Altay who kept us alive. After that some major heroics by De Ligt on defense.

Maguire had a good/bad game. Used his slabhead well and passed well, except for the two goals of course. Not sure who's fault it is but stopping your GK from catching the cross which led to the goal isn't great defending last time I checked.

And then the 2nd goal, while it was a very soft penalty, not sure why Havertz decided to dive. He clearly had Maguire beat so if he had just kept going he would have been 1-1 with GK. Maguire's lack of mobility continues to be a major issue. De Ligt offers everything Maguire does but better and Maguire is a decent squad player right now for us.

He's shown far more fight and personality in the last few months than in his first 5 years.
This. Whatever has gotten into him is supercharging his game.

Feels to me like he believes in himself now and has an inner fire that is finally unshakeable, which is more the United brand that we associate with CB’s who make a name for themselves here.

He’s also quietly and steadily become a leader, ironically. Very impressed with his constitution, which is not something I expected to be able to say about him.

If he keeps this level up, he’ll have earned his place in the team and will be genuinely difficult for a new signing to usurp.

Pleased for him.

What a little ray of sunshine you are!

Using that term slabhead is really lame to say the least. As is the rest of your post.

A crazy, crazy post... Maybe the clearest example of agenda posting I've seen on this forum.

I mean for a start we literally only conceded one goal, and he was nowhere near Bayindir really, Martinez was the one sort of under him, but really Bayindir has a very clear jump and punch at it.

As for the pen concede, Martinez was covering and Havertz was never getting there which is why he dived, Maguire sent him too far wide to get past him cleanly which is why he dived.

The only mistake he actually made was a poor headed clearance for the Havertz chance early on in the second half... But really, it was a superb game from Harry, and it's OK to not be his biggest fan and admit that. Many already have in this thread.

Blaming a defender for 2 goals in a game where we've conceded 1?

Type of game which suits him. When we play deep line he is very good. Problems come when we must dominate and play high line.
true in a back 4, but in a back 3, he can play a highline because we will still have numbers and Onana usually sweeps, so Maguire can operate in a highline if the conditions allow for it.
