He was never good enough before we signed him, anyone who had watched him regularly including plenty of Leicester fans on here at the time, told us that. And he’s spent 3 seasons proving those people absolutely right. He has major flaws to his game which are irreversible and will never suit a modern, progressive team. Put him in a low block team who sit back and soak up pressure he can be an asset. He would probably have been very good in a Jose team, and it’s no surprise he originally wanted him. It’s simply time for him to move on. It is the best solution for both parties. We’ll have to take a massive financial hit but it’s better to cut our losses now then have a player so ill suited to our new system either sitting on the bench (as club captain no less) or coming into the team and causing the issues that we know he will bring. Tonight’s performance simply wouldn’t have been possible with a player of Maguire’s characteristics in the team.
