If dropped, would it be the beginning of the end for Harry Maguire the Manchester United player/captain?
Could be, or we are actually decent at defending counters.
Yeah, I'm also not sure if that tidbit can produce a direct deduction of our defensive prowess. I mean we all saw how easy teams strolled down our middle. I'm aware of visual bias but there's no way that McFred midfield was part of a reliable counter defending machine, likely other factors at play. If we didn't concede much then we probably weren't on the receiving end of that many total or some other tactical reason or just plain anomalous luck or something peculiar about what that stat considers "counters".
I agree that there are always some extra goals that we all think are counters. The goals that fall in this category are mostly goals like the 4-0 we conceded vs Brentford, and not the ones where we lose possession on midfield. However in comparison to other teams the stats become more useful. The stat is very poor, like mistakes leading to goal stat where they don't count many instances. For examples all the below ones are goals scored on counter last season and these are from few sample games before December.
Liverpool 5th goal when Pogba was tackled in the mid third.
Manquillo goal in Ronaldo debut game
Townsend goal, countered from our attacking corner.
ASM goal when Varane lost ball from our throw in.

Who'd of thought a manager that is a fan of progressive football thinks he's shit. They saw it right awayMobility and agility aren’t the strongest characteristics of Slabby. Ralf wasn’t a fan and nor is ETH.
The mistake stat is ridiculous. You really need to feck up to get notes in this category. It's as useful as "mistakes leading to goals" stats which said it's 0 for Maguire, who was making mistakes so often after the restart.
Let's see if we're any better first before getting excited about him being dropped.
"I wouldn't be playing every game for #mufc in the starting eleven if I'd been playing bad every game or not playing well enough. There's a reason why both managers have put me in the starting eleven every game."
Ended!
The outcome of this game should have nothing to do with being better or worse with Maguire going forward. If we were going off single game results that 4-0 to Brentford would have been enough.Let's see if we're any better first before getting excited about him being dropped.
Well these comments don’t sit too well for Maguire. He certainly doesn’t that’s those attributes. Please be the end.
If he'd have played tonight he'd have been slated. It should be judged the same. I hope we are better. The outcome of this game should have nothing to do with being better or worse with Maguire going forward. If we were going off single game results that 4-0 to Brentford would have been enough.

If his replacement sucks they will be slated on the merit of their own performance. Has nothing to do with bringing Maguire back to the team. Varane having a hypothetical shocker isn't going to make Maguire any faster or more agile. Either way Maguire's days as undisputed starter should be numbered. Manager wants to push up and wants mobility. If he'd have played tonight he'd have been slated. It should be judged the same. I hope we are better.
He should go back to Leicester or somewhere like West Ham or Brighton. He’d fit in there. He can’t play in ETH’s system, his whole career is based on backing off and sitting deep. As manager said he wants pace and agility, Maguire lacks both.
This would be our best chance to sell him and recoup something but we’d have to go get a replacement at the last minute which would be more panicking.

Think he’s been poor for some time now and never liked the fact that he’s been undroppable, but I have to agree with you here. He was poor the last two games, but so was everybody in the defence, midfield and attack. And the coach.Let's see if we're any better first before getting excited about him being dropped.
