Big no.

Yes, the ball often hits his head.
Statistically, considering the size of that head, there's a big chance of that happening.

However, he's not a good header of the ball.

He can't seem to direct it where it needs to go.
Again, considering the shape of that head, not unusual.

His headed balls always seem to find an opposition player.

And let's not get into offensive headers. Can't hit a barn door.

That's true enough.

50p head as the expression goes.

That’s how ETH wants to play.
Varane handles these situations as well as Martinez. Whether you would want it or not is a moot point as that’s what the manager wants. He doesn’t like his keepers to just clear the ball. De Gea is following instructions and Maguire is clearly not suited for the role.

Undoubtedly ETH is giving instructions to play out from the back, but do you seriously believe ETH wants DDG to play so me of the passes he does? Or fail to see/play the passes he misses?

This is why an upgrade on DDG is essential.

Out of topic. We’re talking about the mess up from Maguire last Thursday.

The guy knows he won't have another chance to play in a club like ours never in his life once he's out the door

He simply has to leave. He seems like a good guy and all but he's just not good enough. I think a West Ham would suit him well.

Especially as a lot of the teams you’d expect to be interested like Everton, West Ham and Leicester have all been so bad this season.

It’s definitely a possibility he will stick around for another year, him not playing regularly for Utd might even help his chances of keeping his England place as opposed to struggling as a regular starter elsewhere.

These puff pieces about him and excuses that get made are just boring now. He simply hasn’t been good enough as a player or a Captain. The fee we paid was ridiculous and it was just too big a step up for him.

3 years on 200k a week. He's going nowhere.

It’s 2 years isn’t it, expiring in 2025? Either way, I expect we’ll have to take a fairly reduced transfer fee to essentially subsidise his contract elsewhere if he’s to leave this summer.

Really want him gone. Force him out stripping the captaincy may help

Lindelof is a solid back up, Harry is error prone, slow and puts fear into all around him bar the opposition

I don't want to see him play again play Lindelof and Shaw at CB please

Is he injured or dropped?
Injured. Suspect (hope somewhat) he was going to be on the bench anyway, although I suppose there's a partial argument to be made for his 'presence' being more effective against Kane on crosses compared to Lindelof (though I think even this is slightly over-rated).

Harry's days leading the squad onto the pitch are clearly over. A shame as he was a decent CB for Leicester City, but Ole and his team of scouts -- as was Jose (of Jose Was Right fame) -- got it badly wrong when they broke the bank for an average CB.

May just be perception but it feels like he's had a quite a few minor injuries/illnesses this season compared to previous seasons.

Didnt make the matchday śl

injured what? His ego?

I doubt Maguire is injured. It seems Ten Hag is sending a message that even with defenders injured, if you make mistakes you won't play. I have respect for Maguire, he hasn't been playing much but has been professional and speaks well, he hasn't kicked up a fuss, he is not United quality and i wish him all the best at his next club.

He’s going no where unless we force him out (and pay him). He won’t make more than £100k a week at west ham.
You say he's going nowhere but if Ten Hag decides to sell and he loses the captaincy along with the little playing time he gets then I can't definitely see him looking to move elsewhere. He seems like the type of guy that wants to be playing and wouldn't waste his career.

Based on his interviews and the way how he plays, he seems as a guy who is delusional about his abilities and quality. He will stay and fight for place (despite that, in reality, he can't win thst fight).

It's his last big contract, his next one won't be anywhere near the numbers he's currently on. Even if he decides he's happy to go elsewhere, we'll be sending him with a fat wage subsidy or a hugely reduced transfer fee, maybe even both.

Wouldn't pay attention to what a player says in interviews

He seems a really good guy and I suspect he’s more bothered about playing than the wage he is on. I suspect he will leave in the summer, with a bit of a wage cut. Spurs would be an ideal destination I would say. Wonder if there’s any prospect of a swap deal…

Don't think even Spurs are that dumb.

Man Utd 1:0 Aston Villa
Is this the first time he's come on as a sub and not run to immediately get the arm band of Bruno?

Just a few more games to go hopefully. Will rebuild his reputation a bit with a less progressive idea on playing

I know there was talk of him wanting to fight for his place recently but surely he sees the writing on the wall with Shaw ahead of him
