I know that everyone is going to be all over Maguire for the own goal, but what is he supposed to do there? If he doesn't try to block the cross Tottenham has a tap in. It was unlucky and there will be over reactions because it's Maguire and people are just looking for reasons to hate on him. I'm more concerned at how Tottenham got into that area so easily. Maguire played well today and was unlucky on that play...
Or, he could have be more quicker/smarter and be on the ball sooner. Because he is slow he scored og. Because his game reading is shit, he was late.
For 80 mil we got a player who needs to be covered whole game by teammates. Every game Lindelof/Varane need to cover their position and Maguire.

It seems there's absolutely no point discussing Maguire's performances, as it's become impossible for anyone to objectively to analyze them.

He needs to stop charging forward and failing to make a tackle. Keeps putting the rest of the defence in trouble with that stupidity.

So Maguire is the only defender anywhere near the play and he's got to react quicker. Got it...

not sure why anyone wouldn’t. It’s not as if they’d be dropping Ramos. It’s Maguire. Terrible. He just needs to go. He will be better off without the pressure of the shirt….and the armband for sure!
Well while he is in club, he will start. Price tag and captaincy protect him. Next manager will do the same as Ralf. Play him every game.

I honestly didn't see much wrong today - unlucky with the own-goal. Wished he'd slapped that bastard Romero.

Most defenders seem to be able to block crosses without scoring an own-goal. That’s what he was supposed to do there.

He was pretty good before that goal but he still found a way to feck it all up somehow. He needs a reboot.

Yes, exactly. Better defenders than him (so, most of PL defenders) would have been on that ball sooner.

WTF are you talking about? The guy who crossed it was Dalot's man. He was nowhere near him. Maguire tries to block a cross and gets unlucky. If he's back more than they just do a cut back pass. I get that you are looking for reasons to hate on him, but try and use some critical thinking without bias

One of those is Maguire and the other is Varane. Guess who is who
Maguire first, Varane second? Is there a point there somewhere?

Own goal was just one of those horrible things- happens to the best (Roy Keane vs Madrid). Thought he was ok generally.

You make it seem like it's a common occurrence. As is with most own goals, it was very unlucky. But Maguire did the right thing to try and block the cross. It won't help him to endear himself with United supporters though that's for sure

Thought he did ok, but as soon as the own goal happened you could see his confidence go

And as is with most own goals, it was a mistake. It’s not contradictory.

Says everything about today’s ManUtd that this imposter is the captain. Next manager better change that, don’t care if its ETH or Poch or Obama, not going to matter until the standards are reset. What in the world was Ole thinking making him captain…

whoever does that will be shooting himself in the foot unfortunately. His price tag and armband should not give him a free pass to the starting 11.

I'm not a fan of him, but today was just unfortunate. Let it slide, we won anyway. The only thing I don't like is his captaincy. Him "captaining" players like Ronaldo, Varane and Pogba... Just no.

Trying hard to make things for the better, but in the end it just turns out even harder for him and the team.

At this point it's not only bad form, it's a bloody curse and he needs a witch doctor !

Ralf's last act as manager needs to be to strip him of the Captaincy and clear the road for the new manager. Every time we are under pressure he's the one making the most mistakes, it's supposed to be the other way round. Have him as a capable backup and he's fine.

The reason he put it in the net was he was as usual too slow and reaching for it.

A better defender doesn't do that but Maguire will always make the mistake

His average performance is bad, his bad performances are woeful.

Some may say he was unlucky today, but beyond the own goal he lacks aggression, awareness and leadership.

Not fit to wear the shirt.

That moment where he checked on Kane when Pogba fouled him rather than talk to his fellow defenders sums him up as a captain and player.

Bailly has scored a few like that, I was more worried about how cumbersome he looked with the ball later on. Overall Kane Son were kept mostly at bay and he got in some good headers. Still Spurs created a lot openings around the box.

I think our tactic was to sit deep after Spurs beat City and smashed Everton.

Saw that and imagined Keane, vidic, Ramos, puyol etc doing same

I thought he played okay today and the own goal was unlucky
Did you watch a different game? The guys a clown and can’t play under pressure. Think he passed the ball backwards more then he did forward. He’s a liability. If we want to win trophies then Varane needs a world class defender next to him. We also need full backs. City bought a whole new defence and still have decent back ups on the bench, that’s what we need.

If our next manager comes in and thinks
like that we are doomed. It better be because he is the best option we have.
