Harry Kane

Why would t you want Kane? Is there any player you would be happy with?

Because it'd be a huge amount of money and a massive risk on a player that could quite conceivably be a one season wonder. Give it another year and see how he does this season. For £40 + million you should be getting proven top quality players, not a player thats had one good season.

Yeah, there's plenty. Pedro for starters.

Exactly.

Yep, and Rio worked quite nicely as well. Good English or British Isles players are always a sound investment since they are likely to stay with us far longer than your average southern European or South American glamor signing.

Although really it's just good signings are cheap. Ronaldo got a 60-ish million profit and was fantastic for us, De Gea could have been sold for a little more than his fee this summer after being fantastic for us. They needed to be replaced after 5-6 years instead of 10-12 like Carrick and Rooney, but there was compensation.

Is this including the weekly Rooney wage bill he bent us over for and threatened to leave twice...

Nah. I used the word transfer with regard to Carrick then that tiny symbol hanging up high between the "y" in Rooney and the "s" after it means that blah blah blah

Other than Ronaldo, we haven't been compensated much for non-English players. We certainly won't for De Gea, we got nothing for our rent boys Tevez and Falcao, lost money on Di Maria, gave Ruud away for peanuts, and the list goes on. Foreign players rarely get us big returns and Ronaldo was merely an outlier.

Kane and Stones would be fantastic long-term buys for the club, if not for LvG, and can do a job this season too. Those two and Pedro would be an awesome Adidas fanfare and leave me very happy bunny going into the season.

Not only that, but getting England Internationals like Kane and Stones in early allows them to experience and buy into the Manchester United family and philosophy - important when you consider they will more than likely be here for the whole of their top-flight careers. It's great for us too, we would be able watch them develop into the hopefully world-class players we would want them to be. The sort of players that go on to be ambassadors for the club.

I also believe signing two of the best young and promising England Internationals would ease any concerns some fans might have regarding the direction of the club recently.

Not realistic.

It's his first professional season and he tore the league apart, if we wait another year his cost will spiral out of control. Wayne Rooney cost £30m when he was 18(?) and that didn't turn out to bad.

Not it wasn't his first professional season. He'd played on loan at Leyton Orient, Milwall, Norwich and Leicester before last season, and didn't set the world alight with any of them. If anything, last season was the anomaly in his career to date. Thats why spending huge money on him now would be a massive massive gamble.

Rooney is on a completely different end of the scale. He was a player that was being watched by big clubs from a very young age as a future star. It was a matter of when he made the step up, not if. His performances in the Euros just accelerated that move. Kane wasn't even seen as a big star at Spurs, he started the season behind Soldado and Adebayor. Could he just be a late developer? Yes, of course. But its just as conceivable that he could have just had an incredible anomaly of a season, and wont be able to repeat it.

Personally, I'd rather we wait a year and see which one he is before spending a huge amount of money on him. As I say, £40 + million should be getting you a proven player, not one that, at the age of 22, has had just one good season.

It makes more sense to wait til next summer and spend 60m if he follows up last season with another great season than spunk 40m on what may be a one off!

How? say he does flop the Club will still lose money. He is 22, English and if the manager wants him then it's a win win to take him now.

Ok, his first professional season playing for Spurs. He was 21 at the start if last season. £40 is a lot, but that's what you pay these days for potiental, especially if they are English.

I like Harry Kane, wish we still had him at Arsenal. He could have sorted out our striker issues for the next decade.

Do any Arsenal fans here know why we let him go from our youth academy?

Because there is no such thing as a 2 season wonder. If you can do anything for that long at his age you can do it full stop.

Bacause he was bang average when you let him go.....

Wouldn't he have been 7-8 when he left?

It is poor show that he failed to score once in the U21 championships in Czech Republic.

i was disappointed with that too tbh. I dont think Im guna judge him on it though. Alot of great players under perform at International level.

Hope this bid is true

To be fair, fourty quid would be cracking value.

No he was still at the club in 2004 when we won our last league title, so he was 11 at the time.

Perhaps. Its just annoying that we let him slip through our fingers, seeing the player that he is today. Especially since we kept the likes of Lansbury (playing in the Championship), Frimpong (who knows where he is) and JET (Championship again) until they turned 18 and none of them amounted to anything.

Even if we kept him and ultimately decided that he wasn't good enough. He would score a fair amount of goals here and then we could have sold him on for a tidy sum. We usually don't miss the boat on young talent so this baffles me.

Mate we let Pogba slip kinda....shit clubs make these decisions on kids every day.

Agreed. For his own sake he should stay another season too.

Considering Rooney was £30m after 2 seasons at Everton, if we did bid £40m for Kane it'd be a feckin steal if you ask me! Kane scored more goals in half a season than Rooney did in two.

Really can't believe people are complaining about being linked with Kane. Think some supporters need their heads examined.

Kane at £40 with some add ons is a fantastic bit of business if its true, he'd a long term investment and if he stayed here for 8 years roughly what's the problem? Do people want us to spunk another €60m on Carlos Kickafeckin Ball to sod off after a year or two for Madrid or Barca?
