Harry Kane

In a way, it could make more sense for Spurs to cash in now. He might not replicate last seasons form. Its weather Spurs want to take a risk and sell him keep him hoping he only improves.
It's not a huge risk for Tottenham to turn down money. Worst case scenario, he stays as a local lad/squad player on modest wages, who cost them nothing.
It's not like his career will take a straight path depending on what happens next year.

Yes its the pleb buzz word which they use to tell anyone who will listen that LVG doesnt know what he is doing.

Add in a couple of unfunny jokes on how he'll play players out of position and that sums up most threads these days...

Lacazette would still have to adapt to the PL, Kane has at least 1 season behind him. For all the talk of him being a one season wonder, I really couldn't imagine him scoring less than 15 goals this season with Spurs. If he went to United it'd probably be more with the service he'd get from Depay, Shaw, Darmian, Herrera, Mata etc etc
Lacazette would outscore him in our team IMO.

Or he could just want him?

Whatever about shoehorning players into formations, Rooney needs competition and Kane at a decent price is ideal.

Spurs had to play him last season they had no one else, at United he would be used in rotation and eased into the set up. People forget how young he is still.

Kane will be used as rotation with Rooney?  I do not know what is funnier, that idea you just formulated or Spurs actually pondering that supposed price. Nevertheless, I have no doubt that Van Gaal will be interested in a player like Kane, but he will not get him at £40m unless we are blackmailing Levy.

Edit: Now thinking about it, I would not be surprised to see Kane on bench with Rooney as our primary striker because Louis can Gaal philosophy is unpredictable. The reason could be Kane needs to learn how take a penalty with his eyes closed or something else daft like having Jones on corners

Although I think he's exactly the type of striker Van Gaal would want, capable of occupying both centre backs, very good hold up and link up play, young and hungry, I just can't see it happening. Levy won't sell, Spurs have enough cash to not need to sell, as long as the player is happy enough. He's already said that he'll be playing for Spurs next season, and he seems like a sensible, loyal guy.

Yeah, why wouldn't he be?

He's only 22, Spurs played him out of necessity. Spurs and United are two different stories altogether. Going to a club the size of United it'd make sense for him to be part of a squad rotation with Rooney, fail to see the issue here.

You seem to forget that for us to have a successful season we need cover in all areas of the pitch, we will be looking at approx 50-60 games in the season ahead and Rooney will play approx 30-35 games and Kane could still get anywhere between 20-25 matches depending on how our cup runs go.

Some of the rubbish being spewed about United on our tour was incredible by the commentators for the American streams, I can't imagine this is any different. Just a commentator putting 2 and 2 together and pretending it's fact.

If we are getting Kane, I can not see any other role than him being our primary striker. Rooney will play off him. The idea that he could be a rotation player to Rooney is something I would not put it past Van Gaal to do. As an addendum to your point, Van Gaal did say he wants a world class backup in every position

I want Kane. He could make us into the Big Red Machine. He'd be a Demon. He'd walk through hell, fire and bimstone to sign for us.

I admire your optimism Fugi, but Kane has said many times that he loves being at Spurs, that he's a a die-hard fan of the club & has no intention of leaving.

He's a pretty sound & honest lad from what i've heard & read about him, but would he jump at the chance to come to us?

He'd be mental if he didnt, but he's a Spurs fan & very settled. It's all good for him there though,,

The major worry for me would be pushing Rooney back into midfield to cramp both him and Kane in the starting line up.

No chance Rooney's gonna be playing in midfield man - we just bought 2 CM's for starters. If you mean Rooney playing in the hole - then possibly, but both are very mobile across the last 3rd, so they could interchange & have no set position for the majority of games.

Caan not see it happening this summer. We have better chance at landing Bale, because Kane is pivotal to any success Spurs has next season.

Totally agree. Spurs would be mental to sell him at this late stage & as i said - Kane loves being at Spurs.

As regards to Bale - i'd be shocked if he wants to leave this summer & that Perez would sell either. Perez has a hard-on with possessing world-record transfer fee players - egomaniac shit..

Would be a terrible signing. Do not want.

Terrible? he's hardly Emile Heskey!

Who would you propose we get? Realistically!

Most players don't seem to want to move, or would cost us a ridiculous sum of money.

Got scared for a second when I've read some tweet about the alleged offer but thankfully it turned out to be some bullshit spewed by some TV commentator. Thank feck.

Rooney playing a bit deeper could happen, he could also play Rooney up top with two wide forwards in his preferred 4-3-3 and drop Kane. He's young and has a long career ahead of him, Squad rotation would be fine for him for the season ahead.

Bit of a difference in that Stones has had two good seasons with us - last season and the year before which isn't spoken about as it's only this year that people have picked up on him, and he only had one game in the U-21 tournament which was unfortunately off the back of a concussion. He was playing RB too in the U-20 WC.

Rooney and Lampard and Gerrard and every other England player looked shite in at least 3 consecutive International Tournaments....means nothing. Even Messi has only just rectified a pretty crap showing....

We need a striker but if we spend the sort of money we'd need to get Kane we'd end up having to fit him and Rooney into the same team (since the latter is undroppable).

I'd far rather bring in someone cheaper who could play an understudy role.

I'd rather us go for Lacazette or Berahino.

No chance, honestly Kane all day for me. He is a far more complete forward than Berahino that's for sure, Lacazette what I've seen of him is showing promise but still I think Kane would link up better with Rooney and our other attacking players.

Kane holding the ball up for Depay and Pedro to make runs in from wide positions would be perfect.

Glaston been on recently telling us that Kane will stay at Spurs forever because he's a fan?

No thanks.
Lacazette, yay. But Keane is just as good at the moment i think, and being English is a good thing, despite the extra cost.

Keane is as good as Harry Kane... Based on ????

Sorry but thats ridiculous - Kane is just off the back of a fantastic season

This is surprising to say the least and highly unlikely IMO. He's a talented striker but if this means Rooney in midfield again then no.

Commentator strikes again

Commentators curse more like :)

How the feck can he be a one season wonder when he hasnt started his second season yet?

Good point man

Does every thread need to turn into a discussion on philosophy?

You can blame LvG for that man. Bugger never shuts up about it. It's like he's on the payroll of www.philosophy.com for Christ sake & even the players are coming out with it aswell..

Would be funny if he has been the surprise all the time, but Levy demanded to have him for the first game. Announced during the after match press conference when he comes out in the jersey he got from Rooney after the game, announcing that he will take over as main striker for the season.

Would love for us to sign him, think he could lead the line for us for years. Would be hilarious if he lined up for us against Spurs on Saturday!

Not gonna happen though, it's all fiction I'm sure.

Hope we reshape our academy as soon as possible and start producing players.Kane for 40+,Stones for 30+,hype machine is real...

Those are decent prices when you consider both are English and would probably stay with us for a decade, similar to Rooney and Carrick. Well worth the money imo.
