If he nets 25+ this season we should break the bank for him.

What? Can you expand pls?

There is no point in Levy selling him this summer. He's contracted for 5 years so they can sell him for just as much, if not more, next summer or the summer after that, whilst retaining the services of their best player until they do.

Exactly man.

If Spurs have any cop-on at all - they should hold onto him for as long as they possibly can.

In saying that - imagine he has a stinker of a season & the one after - then last season would be proven to be just a one-season wonder..

We'd have to - he'd be £80m then

His valuation doesnt double because he's scored 25+ goals the season after - it stays the same. Ronnie would cost £1billion goin by that logic.

His ridiculous valuation of £40m+ is based on his potential to be a top-player. He's only had one good season so far, so he has it all to do this season to prove that valuation - not double it.

I for one would be a fsn of a Kane signing. Young, british, proven (somewhat) players are risk I like that we take. If he works out he would be our next rooney, our next "face of the franchise".

He hot size and movement in the box that we have been lacking when we are not playing Fellaini. With the level (based on the preseason) of our fullbacks a bigger striker than rooney could be gold.

Of course, negotiating with Levy is a nightmare... But it will always be

Whatever rocks your boat.

I don't agree - his ridiculous valuation of £40m is based on his performances in one season, with the built in risk that he's a one season wonder. If he does it again this season, then that risk is removed and his valuation goes up.

I dont expect you to agree Sparky - it's all about opinions at the end of the day.

One things for sure - the common-sense valuation of a player isnt taken into account with English players at their selling clubs & Daniel "Twat-face" Levy..

His game against Chelsea shows he is no push over. I like him. If sterling is worth 49 mil, then with the current strikers on the market available, 50mil is a great deal. Do not forget we got rooney for 30mil when he had not proven himself (only a glorious goal against arsenal), and this 30mil was how many decades ago? Look where that got us.

Edit: Just saw the Tomkin's link, we bought Rooney for 80mil in current terms

Rooney was a special talent, and his ability was far more apparent.

The fact that Rooney is going to break out scoring records, and some people still talk about him not living up to his potentially fully shows just huge expectations were from him, and indeed how good he was for his age/

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I think we can all agree on that! :)

he isn't.

I have a feeling he'll do feck all against us, like he did in both games last season and the hype will go down.

Edit: on here at least, anyway

he did feck all but still was their best player, it was obvious they had a long campaign, unlike us missing on European cups. This will be different, they will be fresh and won't give in from minute one..

yeah maybe, I'm just massively bitter about the Kane hype train, as I think he'll struggle this season. Managers will have worked him out and he's not particularly clever; he's just direct. I'll make a fool of myself and say Smalling will have him in his back pocket all game. Claim.

The timing would make sense, since all parties will be together on Saturday afternoon. You could get the deal done at the weekend.

Not sure spending £40m plus would be wise after one good season. I'd like to see him do that again.

Obviously the fee would be higher, but at least it's confirmation we ain't signing a one season wonder.

Commentator announcing United apparently bid £40m for Kane!

I'd say its probably rubbish, he played a match 48 hours ago and they are playing us on Saturday! Most likely being rested!

If the bid is true I don't see it being completed before the weekend. No way would Spurs want Kane playing against them so quickly, saying that I cant see Spurs selling him, even for £40m. Theres not many other strikers available that they could get, maybe if we had completed this before Benteke went to Liverpool then Spurs could have signed him as a replacement.

While I do get the feeling he'll play for us one day, I can't help but feel this is more just a great time to unsettle him and Spurs a bit before they play us on the weekend... A bit of mind games. We'll see. Wouldn't mind getting him though at all, though the price is way too much (as it will always be). There is the chance he's a one season wonder, but then there's the chance that he'll keep scoring goals at the same rate and only get better, not sure with him.

In a way, it could make more sense for Spurs to cash in now. He might not replicate last seasons form. Its weather Spurs want to take a risk and sell him keep him hoping he only improves.

I want Kane. He could make us into the Big Red Machine. He'd be a Demon. He'd walk through hell, fire and bimstone to sign for us.

The major worry for me would be pushing Rooney back into midfield to cramp both him and Kane in the starting line up.

A lot of the Guardian football writers (take from that what you will) think he'll be the player of the season. Personally I think it could go either way, but I'm actually starting to warm to the idea of having him here. Would be a risk he can replicate last season's form, but if he can, and we sign him, I think we'll be very close to winning the league.

If this is true (and that's a big if), I hope LvG is buying with a mind of playing him instead of Rooney and not trying to shoehorn both into the starting 11.
