Harry Kane

If the bid is true I don't see it being completed before the weekend. No way would Spurs want Kane playing against them so quickly, saying that I cant see Spurs selling him, even for £40m. Theres not many other strikers available that they could get, maybe if we had completed this before Benteke went to Liverpool then Spurs could have signed him as a replacement.

Hernandez going the other way possibly? Although I don't feel he would be a adequate replacement. I agree there is noway Spurs would let this be done before Saturday.

I would love for us to sign him as I think he is the real deal.

While I do get the feeling he'll play for us one day, I can't help but feel this is more just a great time to unsettle him and Spurs a bit before they play us on the weekend... A bit of mind games. We'll see. Wouldn't mind getting him though at all, though the price is way too much (as it will always be). There is the chance he's a one season wonder, but then there's the chance that he'll keep scoring goals at the same rate and only get better, not sure with him.

Few days before our games vs them. It sounds strange.
Knowing Louis Van Philosophy he would play him out of position anyway.

In a way, it could make more sense for Spurs to cash in now. He might not replicate last seasons form. Its weather Spurs want to take a risk and sell him keep him hoping he only improves.

I want Kane. He could make us into the Big Red Machine. He'd be a Demon. He'd walk through hell, fire and bimstone to sign for us.

The major worry for me would be pushing Rooney back into midfield to cramp both him and Kane in the starting line up.

Caan not see it happening this summer. We have better chance at landing Bale, because Kane is pivotal to any success Spurs has next season.

You know if this happened then Spurs would go and sign the more talented Lacazette for half the price.

A lot of the Guardian football writers (take from that what you will) think he'll be the player of the season. Personally I think it could go either way, but I'm actually starting to warm to the idea of having him here. Would be a risk he can replicate last season's form, but if he can, and we sign him, I think we'll be very close to winning the league.

If this is true (and that's a big if), I hope LvG is buying with a mind of playing him instead of Rooney and not trying to shoehorn both into the starting 11.

everyone calm down.

100% nothing in this.

Kane played v Real Madrid on Tue.

so was never playing v Milan today!

almost had me going though as well!

IMO, he's an one-season wonder. Fortunately, Lewy won't sell him to us (unless we make a very stupid offer).

Still could be something in it, we need a CF to challenge Rooney. It works to unsettle them for Saturday and could see us with the countries best young forward.

I love this commentator. Taping players up for us. Where was he when Moyes was manager?

It's very strange for a commentator to make such an outright statement like this, I only ever recall it happening when something official has happened.

He must either be a the biggest feckin WUM or he is in the know...

BTW, Anyone know who the commentator is?

Kane will challenge Rooney?. We will most likely shoehorn our entire team to fit these two together. However, I believe you might be right about Van Gaal using this rumor as mind games because he knows if he unsettles Kane, we have a better chance of winning our opening game.

Yeah I am pretty sure he knows not to play a young striker out of position. You know with him winning trophies and managing for years and all.
And that's the philosophy then? Not to play a young striker out of position, but when it comes to an older striker (Rooney) he can?

To be fair he was really lucky in all the clubs he managed and it isnt a surprise he has fallen out with every club he managed.

Levy, the mad bastard, would turn down even £50m because for some reason he considers us Spurs rivals. Glaston will keep telling you this is good management but truth is from business perspective it's terrible attitude.

Say we are buying him (for a second), how would he fit in? Are we going to play with wingers again and two centre mids? Like:

---------Schweiny/Carrick-------Schneidy/Herrera-----------
--Pedro--------------------------------------------Memphis

-----------------Rooney/Mata-----------------------------------
--------------------------Kane/Rooney----------------------------

We'd play Rooney in midfield 100%. He will start everytime he's fit.

Throw 40m plus Hernandez at them. I'd love him here.

Or he could just want him?

Whatever about shoehorning players into formations, Rooney needs competition and Kane at a decent price is ideal.

Spurs had to play him last season they had no one else, at United he would be used in rotation and eased into the set up. People forget how young he is still.

lacazette isn't ready imo any more than Kane is. I like Kane. Last player I liked like this was Schneiderlin:p
Kane has played 1 year in the prem. Lacazette has 4 seasons in france and been in the France team for 3 seasons (8 caps altogether)

He's more ready than Kane is IMO.

Kane is the better player. Only thing Lacazatte has over him is speed.

Lacazette would still have to adapt to the PL, Kane has at least 1 season behind him. For all the talk of him being a one season wonder, I really couldn't imagine him scoring less than 15 goals this season with Spurs. If he went to United it'd probably be more with the service he'd get from Depay, Shaw, Darmian, Herrera, Mata etc etc
