Harry Kane

Good to hear he wants to stay at Spurs. For the money Levy will want for him, he needs to show he's not a one season wonder. Don't want him at United this season for a ridiculous amount of money plus his no doubt ridiculous amount of accompanying wages. Forget it. Let's see what he's got first.

He had an impressive season, but i would be surprised if he could replicate it or even improve the next season.

Harry Redknapp seems to have changed his mind.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes a £45m offer from Manchester United could tempt Daniel Levy into selling Harry Kane.

Kane, 21, has become one of United's targets for the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports, with the Manchester Evening News suggesting the club's chief executive Ed Woodward is ready to bid as high as £50m for the England international.

The Spurs striker recently told Sky Sports he is happy at White Hart Lane and has no desire to leave this summer.

But Redknapp, who managed the north London side between 2008-2012, says Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may listen to offers should one come in that exceeds his valuation of the player.

"The rumours are that Manchester United are interested in Harry Kane and while it would be a good move for the player it would be a disaster for Spurs," Redknapp wrote on Kicca.

"If they were to sell their best player – the one shining light from last season – then what message would it send to the fans? The club have to keep their best players if they are to progress.

"But if United were to put in a £45m bid I reckon Daniel [Levy] will look at it in the cold light of day and if he thinks Kane isn't worth amount of money then I can see him doing the deal.

"But if he was to leave then it would be a terrible signal to send to the fans."

Kane, who turned 21 while making 34 Premier League appearances for Tottenham in the 2014-15 season, is currently on international duty at the Under-21 European Championship in the Czech Republic but reiterated his desire to remain at Tottenham, following England's 1-0 defeat to Portugal.

"Of course I have been watching Sky Sports and have seen the interest," he told Sky Sports.

"But I am happy at Spurs and I look forward to the future with Spurs. I have seen there is interest but that's all I know. It is flattering for other clubs to maybe be interested.

"Tottenham are a big club and that's how people have got to see it. I'm at a big club now and enjoying my football looking forward to next season at White Hart Lane."

They are not quotes from a player that's going to leave this summer. I know that sometimes words like that are said to appease fans, but he really seems to genuinely love Spurs. That's what I'm getting from it anyway.

I read it the other way, that he is happy at Spurs but if..

Otherwise he'd say something like "I don't pay any heed to rumours. I'm very happy at Spurs, and look forward to next season and continuing my progression under the coaching team here"

Yeah. He's not closing the exit door come what may, but he's happy where he is and won't push for a move.

With all the cards in his hands, Levy would take us to the cleaners.

I think if we made our interest official, i.e. bid, he would obviously take a different stance.

An English kid is not going to pass up the chance to go to United. Look at how it worked out for Rooney ££££ and trophies.

One good season out of nowhere and he is a £45m player, the worlds gone mad. Personally Im still on the fence. There have countless young strikers had a great breakthrough season looking like top talent and to some degree fade away, Javi Hernandez for us being a recent example. I think Kane is a promising young Englishman which obviously raises the price but I wouldnt sign him if it was £20m personally, think its press twaddle anyway. I think he is a player to be monitored yes, signed....not at this point no

I hope we're not going to waste the entire summer trying to get him. He's made it clear he wants to stay at Spurs and no way are they going to sell him.

Agree.

By all accounts it appears or interest is real, but not sure how serious. It's most likely not in our transfer plans but he's one of the 'if special player becomes available' there's money set aside ones like bale/ronaldo.

He knows there's little to no chance it will happen this year so isn't going to risk pissing off own fans.

like with shaw? if united paid 30m for a lb why not more for a striker?

Shaw wasn't a one season wonder.

Shaw had two very good season's in the PL with Southampton, and had been being monitored by the likes of ourselves and Chelsea since he was 13/14.

Kane is showing for the England U-21s at the moment exactly why he isn't what we need to spend £40mill on right now. When he doesn't have the service he seems to disappear from the game. I'm not saying that this makes him a bad player, but unless LVG changes our playing style significantly from the way we played last season then he'd end up standing around the edge of the area watching our midfielders pass it back and forth across the pitch. I know that there are very few players around at the moment who can beat a man as well as scoring the goals required but that is what we need right now (someone in the mould of a Luis Suarez/Sergio Aguero).

Definitely needs another season at Tottenham before moving up a level IMO. For the money required I feel Kane is a little limited. He is a great finisher and has that knack of being in the right position to score goals, but I dunno there is just something I don't like/feel good about him. Young players are moving far too early these days, he needs to get another season of 20+ goals under his belt and sharpen his tools, then we can come in with the big money.

The problem with Kane isn't that he's a bad player, he's a very, very good player who could play for any of the top sides in this country (maybe not as a starter). The problem is that he's 21 years of age, has had the season of his life, and now finds the collective burden of a nation's expectation resting on his shoulders. England is not the only country that hypes its young players to death, but aside from maybe Brazil or Argentina, it's one of the most extreme in terms of football craziness.

A lot of players can't cope with this level of expectation -- it's one of the reasons Rooney deserves respect, he's had it since he was 16.

find it surprising that people write Kane off like he was some kind of Darren Bent/Andy Johnson type.

He scored 30+ this season, all types of goals.

They weren't all just whizzing onto through balls with pace, or pens.

He'll find it very hard to replicate such a fantastic season of course, but most people scoring so many do the second year!

Next year he will cost the double, the right time is now, next year is too late

Would be happy if we got him and sterling. He's done quite well tonight.

Not really, all he did was hit pointless shots from range when he had better options. Pretty much the same as he did in the first 2 games. Basically played like Balotelli tonight

Can really see him flop next season, he's had a great season but for me its come totally out of the blue. Similar to lets say Bas Dost. Decent striker who had some brilliant few months.
I'm not sure. The extent to which he was scoring to me seems he is not a fluke. He really is good at finishing and sniffing out chances. To score that amount of goals in the Premier League, there must be some talent.

Some of his goals are really well taken. Think he can become a top, top striker.

Harry Kane will cost 80 million next summer?

If his form carries over to next season he could very well be worth 80m...especially with him being English and the Levy tax...but there have been many one season wonders in the EPL. Im glad we arent bidding 50m on him this year.
Id rather place Rooney on top and give him the service he requires.

No if his form continues he might actually be worth what they want for him this summer. I'd say more chance of him having second season syndrome and for that reason I hope we wait. We are not exactly desperate he would never displace Rooney come August 8th for me.

That's your opinion. Apart from one or two - most of them he got on target. The service in general wasn't good so I don't blame him. Someone that is confident in shooting is not a problem if they've good technique and have a fair chance of scoring. I would have no problem a striker being greedy. I would have a problem if he wasn't skilled in that aspect.

Depay in the last Friendly for Holland had a lot of efforts. That shows ambition to me and a desire to score goals.

Ive no problem with people having the confidence to take on shots when they are on but he wasnt even looking for a better option which was available a lot of the time he played completely for himself not the team on most occasions he already had his mind made up that he was going to shoot without assessing his options and took shots that were never going to cause any danger which shows arrogance or a lack of footballing intelligence in my opinion

I can remember only one time when there was - perhaps - a better option than for Kane to take a strike for himself. I can also remember a superb through ball he played to Ings, who really should have scored from it to put England 1 - 0 up against Italy.

For most of the time Kane had little or no service, and mostly did the best he could under the circumstances, which was at least to try and make something happen ... in contrast to the slow, ponderous build-ups that most of the rest of the team seemed stuck on. The idea that he lacks footballing intelligence simply doesn't hold water ... as his all-round game at Spurs this last season showed in abundance.

I wasnt only talking about this game I was talking about the 3 games at the tournament when it seemed all he wanted to do was take on shots no matter whether they were on or not. I dont think a lack of service is a particularly good excuse for acting like you're the only player on the team and taking on pointless shots without even trying to find a better option. I dont think he lacks football intelligence in general in fact I think his play last year displayed a lot of footballing intelligence and maturity for a 21 year old which is why I was surprised to see him playing like this for the under 21s although it probably didnt help that he was playing with Ings against Italy who was never going to be the right type of player to partner him

He scored 21 goals in the Premier League, its a good return..but more strikers have had such a season and then afterwards not been able to replicate it.

When though :( nothing seems to be moving!
You should be happy.
I know, but am guessing negotiating isn't that simple....let alone with Levy at that.
I sincerely hope Kane (respectfully) starts to make some noise about wanting to leave (CL and all that) if/when we become genuinely interested to get it moving...
