Harry Kane | No talky Harry, no thread

Comparing Kane to Bale is absurd. Bale could receive the ball in his own half and hes still a threat as he could run through your team. He scored some absolute worldies at crucial times. He was more than just a CF that scores goals which is kind of what you expect/hope from a forward. He was just an all around menace. Didn't he run through our midfield, beat Ferdinand and then tuck it into the bottom corner?
Harry Kane can only dream of having Bale's talent. Just a reminder of his goals. The sheer volume of Freekicks and longshots seems a bit excessive for 1 season

EDIT: after watching it all the way through, we need to sign Bale

I know, it's an insult to Kane.

I understand, in terms of style Kane is a bit like Benzema and Lacazette, and I noticed that people tend to underrate both players, personally I'm a fan of Kane I liked him a lot last season but wanted to see if he was able to repeat the same season and he just did that.

Yeah, when you put it like that they are quite similar. I'm still waiting for next year when the big teams actually pull their finger out their arse and he does it in the CL, before really get on board.

He's been doing it for two years, and improved on last years this year. It's not just form anymore!
I do get that, but I'm still underwhelmed by our league for the past two years, especially this year; so I'm waiting until next year for my full assessment!

That being said he'll still go in my fantasy team next year ;)

Very intelligent player is Kane, and is also very good technically too. Wasn't entirely convinced last season, but opening game this season vs United he totally convinced me tbh

Just doing some Wikipediaing, Kane imo will easily surpass Shearer as the PL's top scorer. Bit random but the guy is well on his way to becoming a premier league legend (bit premature)

Shearer got 260 pl goals (ignoring his football league goals)
Kane is 22 and has 49
He will be 23 by the start of next season so a decade of 20 goals a season would still not quite be enough
He could get the record but would need to stay in the pl and injury free for a decade so I'd still be very surprised if he gets that particular record

He's finishing is amazing. Would be a Muppet signing although it would effect Rashford.

Is there anybody here that honestly expects Kane to move to Man Utd this summer? Not a snowball's chance in hell of that happening.

Nope. Seems happy at Tottenham and I can see him staying there a long time. Will surely become their best paid player too.

How can you say he will 'easily' surpass Shearer's total? Nonsense. So many variables involved that it's basically a meaningless assertion at this early stage of his career.

Shearer's record is just insane and Kane will need to be incredibly consistant and injury free for many years to come close to it. I do think he is capable of beating it but he will need a lot of luck to do it.

Christ, he's not even the best striker in the league in 2016, let alone of all time. Steady on. Shearer was ridiculous.

Woah woah woah easy there. By easily I mean by 10 goals which I think is very possible

Don't have to be the best striker in the league. As long as he is banging 20-25 goals a season and plays til he is like 34 I think he will do it. No need to shoot down the prediction.. remember Leicester City won the league

If he's on track to beat Shearer's record still in a year, two, three, he'll probably be at Real on a world record fee, not still banging them in over here.

He needs a couple of 30+ seasons and i dont think Spurs will ever facilitate that. No striker in history has ever done 20+ a season for 10 years.

Nope. He's going no where this summer.

But within the next 2-3 years he will be off.

Spurs are about to pay him £100k/week.

Luke Shaw is on £110k.

If he continues his current trajectory, a few clubs will be waving cheques for £250k/week in his face soon enough.

Yeah unless Spurs become an all conquering league side over the next few years ,he will want to win trophies and move on. In the mean time hopefully Rashford is hitting 20+ by that point.

League conquering or not. You cannot pay your staff less than half of what they would get elsewhere and expect to keep them long term. It doesn't happen.

I can see it happening for sure, but it totally depends on Kane. He would have to force this move through, like Stones at Everton.
Spurs don't need to sell Kane, and wouldn't want to, so it would be entirely down to Kane to force it. And united would have to financially be prepared to pay over the odds. Way over the odds. I think he's worth about £50 - £60M in todays inflated market, but United would have to fork out £70 - £80M to prise him away. Nothing to United.

I'm sure he's champing at the bit to get back into Europa League football next season.

Spurs haven't got the squad to take on the prem and CL. They won't make top 4 next season, and will probably not make it out of the CL group stages. Kane may fancy a crack at the CL, but he may also fancy a step up to a bigger club.

I can see Kane moving away from Tottenham in the near future but I don't see it happening next season. There's really no reason for him to do so as the option wouldn't change in a year.

Yep, he is a good player like a few others there, spurs have had talented players before, but it is being highlighted by the manager who is the real talent there, if the manager continues to perform next season he will leave and the squad will start to disolve, they will leave with inflated egos and price tags and spurs will remain as they are, the 2nd biggest club from north London.

Luke Shaw is on £70k.

Decent read on the Beeb about him here, a bit of an insight in to his early career and personality from former teachers, managers, coaches and team-mates.

Sherwood hits the nail on the head there.

He's a mix of Shearer and Sheringham. To simplify it brawn, power and all round scoring strength mixed with the subtelty, technique and intelligence of a proper no.10 forward.

We should offer him 150k with bonus add ins and just get him signed.

He was made to play for Mourinho.

Trouble is, Levy would absolutely fleece us for something like £70m when we could get the same results with Ibra on a free.

Why is this being bumped? There's no chance of it happening this summer. Not even the likes of Daily Star and Express are bothering to make up bs stories about this.

I get that, but ibra is a one season fix.

Or do you advocate buying next summer?

He would be a one or a two season solution, no different than when we leased Tevez for two years imo. Kane is pretty good but I'm not sure if he'd be a Mourinho type player. Also, there may be better options on the horizon next summer, so for me Ibra on a free would be ideal this year.

In my honest opinion there is absolutely zero possibility of Kane leaving Spurs in the next 2-3 years, he is about to become (if not already) our highest earning player in the history of the club and I expect this to be increased every season if he continues to perform. When he gets to age 26/27 then maybe then he might think about a move but that will depend on the situation at Spurs, by then the new stadium will be built and there should be lots more money about the club for wages, etc. so if they are managing to get in top 4 every season (will be tough but possible) then he could stay at Spurs for his entire career, he is a local lad and loves the club.

As for this summer, not a chance of him going anywhere.

Wouldn't want to go for him right now, i think we need to give Rashford a proper chance before investing in another young striker.

I'm sure he's champing at the bit to get back into Europa League football next season.
I think that's a rather naive and simplistic viewpoint. Celtic are in the Champions League but I don't see the top players clamouring to move there.

You read this nonsense and then understand why GlastonSpur winds United fans up. It's really arrogant to assume we can just force Spurs to sell Kane. And to be honest I wouldn't be leaving Spurs to join us in our current state.

Did you say the same this time last year?
