Harry Kane MBE | Performances

If Florentino continues his routine of signing the World Cup star, he should be talking to Kane's agent.

He'd cost crazy money 250 million, wouldn't take a penny less if I was Spurs.

Messi couldn’t score a pen the other day though could he? Still have to stick them in. Nothing wrong with having a Lucky striker.

Didn’t Ronaldo score a pen and get a lucky goal against Spain for his hat-trick?

We have a great striker on form, couldn’t care less how the goals go in.
Exactly. 5 goals in 2 games.

He really does need to pick up his form in open play. He's too much of a passenger and it could be exposed against the better sides.

Messi has been utter shite so being better than him means feck all.

Goals in isolation mean nothing unless it's a final. Ronaldo and Lukaku have been central to their teams forward play. Kane has been a passenger and Lingard has been far better.

Haha - this must be a joke. Just had to check this was the Kane thread!
What's so funny? He's static against fecking Tunisia and Panama.
He can't match the movement of Lingard and Sterling and sort of drifts and does the basics for those around him.
Had he a shot from open play today?
He can't just continue to watch others move around him.

I think with kane england have a very good chance of winning this tournament, once england stay solid kane only needs half a chance to put one away.

First ever hattrick without actually taking a shot?

Discounting penalties as shots of course.

That's what I just said in the match thread:lol: World record bid coming up!

No one matches the movement of Lingard, and besides they play in different positions.

Just so strange you are criticising a guy who has more goals than anyone else in the WC, and who scored 40+ goals last season.

Maybe we would be better off with a striker who doesn’t score and runs around a bit more.

Looks like he was beat in the face with a baseball bat. Madrid are welcome to him.

You're over sensitive.
If he is this static against Germany etc then that will lead to a lot of problems for him.
Maybe Jesse can win him another penalty but England aren't good enough to build around a poacher at the minute.
He's just not involved enough, its why all these chances from open play are falling to Jesse and Sterling.
I'll make a prediction right now, England will be eliminated with Kane having little impact on the game while Sterling and Jesse will be crucified for fluffing chances that should be falling to Harry.

I think Sterling has been far worse than Kane, he can move around as much as he wants, his finishing has been woeful. Kane should of had an assist tbf, but Sterling somehow managed to work out a way to miss from about 3ft out. Kane otoh has been clinical, his finishing is better than Sterling even when he's not even attempting to score ;)

I can see it now, 'Well Harry I just dont think you move around enough when playing that's why you are getting benched, maybe throw in some step overs and a hocus pokus into a rabona goal as well as moving around more? That would appease the posters on the red cafe forums more."

I thought his overall play was good.

Funniest hat-trick ever though

So being able to get into goal scoring positions is just moving around a bit?
You're playing around him at times ffs!

His movement is fine in general though so its not as if something he doesnt have. Could be a case of just playing within himself today as the game was dead and buried very early and he'd already got goals too. Wouldn't read too much into it.

His movement has been brilliant. Look at his first two goals of the tournament. He drifts into space and picks up the second ball, that's why he scored and why England are through to the next round comfortably.

The first goal vs Tunisia was just right place at right time. It was a tremendous save from Stones' header so harsh on the keeper to still concede

He has the insight to be at the right place at the right time. Call him lucky but I would take a lucky striker over a fancy one any day of the week.

Right now - in my opinion - it is a very difficult decision to pick between Lukaku and Kane if he were to come here (hypothetically).

Also, the penalties were very well struck. There wasn't an iota of doubt that both were going in. Spurs have uneartherd an absolute gem and most probably will have him throughout his prime.

It wasn't right place right time, he drifts into space from the group of players and picks up the rebound, watch it. It is what good strikers do, all players really. Find space.

Same, should of probably had an assist, not sure how Sterling managed to conjure up that miss from right in front 3ft out. Pretty sure it was Kane that headed back across the face of goal.

5 goals in two games at the world cup, whats his record like for the national team? Im assuming it's ok because he still has the job. Guess you could bench Kane and play Rashford - Sterling combo up top, Or Vardy - Rashford. Im just not sure the team would have that clinical edge that Kane's finishing brings. Might be a bit more dynamic as far as interplay and movement in and around the box are concerned however, but you need to put the ball into the back of the net to win games.

Go get that golden boot, son.

If he can go through an entire game without taking a shot on goal (minus the penalties which he took brilliantly) and end up with a hattrick to his name, I'd suggest his chances of winning the golden boot are rather high.

I didn't even realise he didn't have a shot from open play. Truly, it's written in the stars!

An impressive 18 goals in 26 games I believe, all at the tender age of 24. If he carries on at his current scoring rate, he will break Rooney's record of 53 goals for England before he is 30. He has also scored in every game he has captained his country.

He's just a top-class striker. I'd give blood to see him play for United.

2 pens and a goal he had no idea about.. Pens were great, but what a way to get a hattrick.. top scorer with 1 good goal.

You know it's a top striker when you're just always confident he can bag. Doesn't even have to shoot.

Doesn't matter much for me. Still goals anyway.
Oh sure. Anyone would take them, no matter how they come..
But if we are discussing performances, stats can be misleading.

Saying he has scored 5 goals in the WC in 2 games sounds incredibly impressive.. The performances havent been as great as the stats would suggest.

His role in the team is to bang goals. He's surrounded with too much pace and youth around him to do the hard work, while him being the only clinical finisher in the lineup, so each one do the job he's best at.

I agree, but he's also bagged when he's had the opportunity. The pens were exceptional too. Can't discount how good they were.

He's got to be the cleanest ball striker around, he gets so much power on his shots it's insane.

Thought that first pen was going to break the net
