Harry Kane MBE | Performances

On top of performances it's a great deal for Spurs because Kane is probably the most marketable English player right now. Securing him should make sponsor deals easier to find etc.

Just don't let him speak and you might do ok.

What’s wrong with a player loving a club? Fair play to him. Tottenham are one of the strongest sides in the league and moving in right direction with a new stadium and fantastic manager. Why would he not want to be part of that? I’m not sure how much Totti & De Rossi have won but they could have moved to a side with more winning potential than Roma. They don’t seem to be called out for it.

I have no respect for players that stay at their clubs. Shearer, le tissier etc now Kane. Its small minded mentality.

Your original post suggested something different entirely. Try being specific next time.
There's no specificity required though, as there's always a hack or ex-pro discussing the finances of spurs - which readers and listeners take as verbatim, but are inevitably without any basis at all.

Maybe you don't notice it as much when you don't follow the club, but as a seasoned fan it really is obvious. The only time we ever caught a break was when media darling, and every pundit's best mate, Harry Redknapp was manager.

Kane will leave if he continues to well whilst winning nothing under Poch.

Shearer didn’t stay anywhere. He was at Southampton, went to Blackburn and won the league then signed for his boyhood club for a world record transfer.
Hardly a losers mentality, plus Blackburn refused to sell him to United.

You must have massive respect for Ronaldo then.
Ummmmm yes????...how can you not respect Ronaldo?

he might, he might not. or he could get injured. Loose form. Not get the opportunity. Anything can happen. Live for today. Take your opportunities when you can.

Nothing wrong with him staying at all IMO. Many people loved Totti staying at Roma, I don't see how this is any different.

If you don't even try achieve all that you can achieve you are a loser in my book. Look what he could have achieved if he went to united. Fail.

He will be a Spurs legend, but not a legend in football.

Exactly this, if Walker had not been so incredibly small time, then Shearer would have been at United.

I'm sure Harry Kane is gutted UpWithRivers on redcafe.net thinks he is a loser.

One thing not many people (including Kane) seem to've realized is that should his current wages of "up to 200k" a week become outdated, as we've seen football wage scale in the PL get smashed in the last few years - Kane, being tied to a 6 year agreement will have basically no power to renegotiate them with Levy...

If the PL wage scale leaps up again soon (which it probably will), and the top strikers across the league are all earning 400k a week, Kane is tied, for 6 years, to an "up to 200k" a week contract.

It seems an incredibly foolish move for Kane and his advisors.

6 years is a bit too much and restricts himself from having more room to manoeuvr but maybe he truly loves it and wants to finish his career there ?
Which would be absolutely fine. I just find it weird how people dismiss the implication of such a contract at Spurs

Lol.

He's more than doubled his wage, is at a club on the rise in one of the world's major capital cities, playing for a great manager, is captain of England and next season will walk out into the best football stadium in the UK to play for a club that he loves.

He's living the dream mate … which doesn't look "incredibly foolish" to me.

Poch is not a great manager.

Maybe not great

I like to leave that one more so for Managers that actually have won things

But he is without question a very very good manager

Spurs Man City and Liverpool played the most exciting football and finished well in the league last season, and the season before, and the season before that

The new shearer.

Will be lucky to win anything as long as he stays at the club. Maybe the odd cup or two if they perform miracles.

Why is everyone so sure that he won't win anything with Spurs? He would know much more about the chances of Spurs winning something so I'm not really sure why people here have literally ruled out a possibility of them lifting any silverware.

As for Kane, I think he won't ever move from Spurs.

I don't get the problem here. The manager recently committed, the club is good, the squad is good, it's been his club for 14 years and he wants nothing more than to win titles with Spurs which they are capable of so long as he is there.

Why is personal ambition and happiness and loyalty shat upon?

Yeah let’s just have all the best players join the best clubs forever and ever. Madrid barca Bayern PSG United City just churn out the titles year after year

yay

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't understand these people.

Strange move to give him such a length of contract. Why if he starts degrading like Rooney?

Can’t blame Kane for signing it though. If you like where you work and they give you a massive pay raise then you’d be happy. Plus we don’t know what clauses, conditions and bonus are built in.

On the other hand he doesn’t seem very ambitious. He probably could have gone to Madrid if he wanted

Why would he degrade like Rooney? Rooney started playing at a much younge age but also was far from a model professional, if Wayne had of been more committed to looking after himself he wouldn't still be playing at the highest level.

Fecking useless tonight, looking like the latest England superstar who can't replicate club form
