Gaming God of War: Ragnarok (PS4/PS5)

Yeah, I want to know this as well. I finished the main quest but there and immediately wanted to go back for OCD purposes and can't seem to get past the same spot either. Have gone off in a canoe now to do some other stuff for her.

I think I’ve got something that lets me get back there now. Yet to test it out in that realm so will see. Just need to do the story for a bit.

For me combat is much more fluid, faster, and rewarding. But more importantly they let me change my buttons and turn on giro aim... I think this is up there with Returnal for combat feel.

I can't help but stop at times and take in the visuals and level design. Gorgeous. From the first lake first, to the mines, wow. The lighting effects!

It's a great game but whichever reviewer said the side quests where as good as the witcher 3 were obviously paid off. 22 hours in.

They don’t really seem to be many that early into the game but then suddenly there’s a decent amount. I’m not sure about them being as good as Witcher but they’re very thought out and in depth. There’s no basic fetch quest bullshit and they all feel like you’re doing a main story mission really.

Finally got a good few hours in last night. Brilliant. Beautiful. So much to appreciate about it.

And it's good to be fulfilling my glowing green raven needs.

Had a day off yesterday and basically melted into the sofa playing this. Taken so many screenshots of the beautiful environments

 sounds like a perfect day. I'd planned on doing the same last week but a few things popped up at work which meant I couldn't.

How many hours in now dude?

I must be around 30 hours I think. Just got a new item, the spear.

Finished the story by mainlining it and leaving the side content. Really enjoyed it.

Think I'll go and do the side quests before the collectible hunt *shudders*

I'll have some loose end collectibles to get but I'm glad I've picked up most on the way so far. The beserker gravestones are proving a bitch though, are they the Valkyries of this game?

Haha, I love this part
Those damn ravens will be the bane of me.

there are actual valkyrie battles still so probably not

Seriously, how do you have so much time?
No family/other commitments, didn't do much side content and had difficulty set fairly low so doesn't take as long. Sol said he's 30 hours in on a certain point which probably has another 10 hours at least of the game to go. I finished the story in 24.

Yeah I've got a job that's pretty low maintenance and lets me WFH so I have long periods of downtime during a work day. It's nice when I have something else to do but boring when I don't.

The user interface seems cheap/low res looking. Or outdated. Cant quite pinpoint it.

Combat is taking a little getting used to after coming from the wonderful combat of Ghost of Tsushima.

I have a 2.1 HDMI TV and I cant for the life of me get used to the 40fps performance mode.

Again, it feels off for me. A shame. The unlocked frame rate mode with VRR is lovely to play though.

3 hours in and not going to scroll here to avoid spoilers, but so far loving this game.

I feel like Solius just clings to a specific game/tv show and does absolutely nothing else in life until it's finished.

Pretty much. I find there's less and less games I enjoy these days so I try to make the most of them when a good one comes along.

This game calls you to it to be fair. When you're at work thinking about what you're going to do (playing GoW2) when you get home... I'm actually on a sicky playing it now

Only played about 3 hours or so, and it looks like it'll level out to a very good game, but it does feel a little bit like a continuation of the 2018 game rather than a brand new title. Maybe that's just because I've still barely got into the game?

I agree with all of this.

Think I actively hate the menu.

Also considering running through it on easy, combat is boring me, same shite over and over, enemies just take more hits the further in you go. Think I think this with most games though, prefer just snooping about and also the story these days. Sign of getting old I think

It's a direct sequel so of course it feels like a direct continuation. Were you expecting to play as Raiden?

I hate not being able to complete an area because of restrictions that I don't open till later in game.
Yeah every fecking game has this now. Sorry, come back later when you've unlocked more moves to get these last collectibles so we can exhaust as much playtime out of the game as possible.

Forbidden West was terrible for it. This isn't as bad, but still has it.

Whenever I start a side quest, I regret it half way in because I just want to get back to the main story.

This x 100%, which is the advantage of an open world game like HFW or Elden Ring. I like being able to do things at my own pace. With that said, it can be nice to turn on the game and not have to think too hard about what I need to do to complete a level.

But HFW is probably the worst offender of that I've ever seen? Absolutely every question mark on the map, if you do explore, for the first segment of the game, isn't actually doable when you get to it because you are missing something you need for it. It basically gets you to trawl around the open world to go explore and find these things, only to tell you to feck off and come back again later on. It's the total opposite of what an OWG should be. Elden Ring, quite rightly, just lets you go almost wherever the feck you want and the only thing stopping you is whether you can handle the enemies it throws at you yet.

HFW you managed to unlock everything fairly fast I thought? Unless I just done it in some mad order and got lucky. There were a couple things which came late in story though.

Think I'm finished with Bay of Bounty for now, got Alberich Island to do but guessing I need a skill before I can do that, everywhere else there is 100% at the moment. Apart from one of the rigs, got an "undiscovered" on it too, think that is locked too because I feel I've exhausted my options there.

Played for 8 hour 20 so far, I have only done 3 main missions  and 2 favours.

Some of the bosses later on have different mechanics but got to say, even on easy the beserker gravestones are hitting hard and not that 'easy' at all.

Do you know if Vanaheim opens up again properly? I can’t seem to get to the Draugr thing in the north.
