Gaming God of War: Ragnarok (PS4/PS5)

Wait what?

In
Svartlheim?

If so, I did the
mining rigs thing and freeing the creature.
Oh maybe that is two then. Both were very good.

Yeah you have done two. You sort of get one half way through doing the first so I guess it's easy to not realise they are separate. I agree, both good.

So I seen the side quests were said to be as good as Witcher 3s side quests? True or false?

No not even close. At least not so far. Have only done 3 so far. 6 hours in though so plenty to go.

It's hard to even judge when people say a certain amount of hours in, because I'm spending a lot of time getting all the ravens, chests, etc.. before moving on.

I go for all the chests. Don't care about the ravens.

What do you do if its something that can be accessed only later in the game when you revisit the area

Try and make a mental note, fully aware I will forget where it is. The wind shit I keep seeing is driving me mad

Only had an hour and a half with the game but my god it feels so good to swing that axe again. That running of a ledge and smash attack is so badass. I know people have said it's not as good as Nioh and others, but you still can't help walking past a barrel and smashing it to pieces for the sake of it. I like a slow burner but this really starts with a bang, can't wait to get home and really sink my teeth into it.

I tried keeping track of things in the 2018 game but ultimately did an entire run again through all the areas for the collectibles and ravens. Not sure how it will work in this game though.

I do it with barrels, wooden boxes, vases hoping there's some free Hacksilver there

No barrel goes unsmashed for me.

Made me laugh when Atreus said "My Dad likes loot" in the second main area.

I see a 0/1 in an area I left and it makes my brain itch.
This does actually bring a small gripe I have with this game, in fact a lot of games now, fecking audio clues. Devs must think we're brainless oiks nowadays.

When I enter a new area, even if I can see what needs doing or where I need to go, I like to look around, see if there's owt that needs finding or whatever. That'smade pretty fecking annoying as almost the second you enter the area, Atreus or Mimir are immediately instructing / hinting what needs doing and keep repeating it until I've obeyed.

Not just this game but so many games do this now and I find it really irritating. There really should be an option to turn it off and let me enjoy finding shit out at my own pace.

Small gripe though, it's a beautiful game and I'm really enjoying it.

Have you noticed that if you circle an area that previously had a barrel in you've already collected they sometimes they reappear? I can't leave them. None of them. I love it. Gather it all and keep gathering

Didn't notice that no. I think I'll always be a hoarder in video games. Can't use that health potion as I might need it later (and never using it).

For your own sanity do not play horizon forbidden west.

I just missed a chest I saw while on a lift on the way up. No way to backtrack so far, but perhaps it possible later.

I've heard a few fourth wall breaking jokes. I like it when Devs are self aware.

The one about the water wheel tickled me.

Has anyone reached the third legendary chest in
Alfheim
yet? I’m assuming I’ve got to yank the crystal thing left and right but when the prompt comes up, Kratos pulls but can’t move it. When I look on YouTube someone else did it with no issues.

Edit: Nvm a save and reload fixed it.

Just realised you can change evade to the circle button which feels way more natural to me.

The
Thor
fight looks awesome, but mechanically it's very meh and not challenging at all.

Is this game really the 10/10 Game of the Year all the reviewers have been saying ?

I completely ruled this game out because until this week, I thought it was a marvel game based on the Thor character.

I'm halfway through (i think) and it's a very good game but Elden Ring was/is better for me... so far anyway. Two very different games though.

What is "Unrelenting Might"? It pops up on a timer on the left of the screen sometimes when I'm fighting. Can't find anything in the menus about it.

Oh man, one section of the game is really dragging. I'd be interested to see if people think its refreshing or a bit of a pace killer

Atreus second solo section. Feels like i've been here for hours, which I have. I want daddy back!

Is it more like Forbidden West? If you’ve played that

Who honestly cares about reviewers, Elden Ring wasn't a 10/10 either the second half of the game wasn't nearly as strong as the start. Ragnorok is everything I expected the sequel to be and I'm hooked.

No. Forbidden west as an open world game. This is well designed levels and very little freedom to roam where you please (so far). Not a bad thing just very different. Its more comparable to tlou2 in that way.

I know how to complete the basic puzzle, Atreus. I'm just poking about the place looking for stuff, I don't need you explaining it to me.

I hate how fecking hand-holdy games are these days.

Yeah this is a bit much. I’m with a different companion and they keep telling me the hints for solutions to puzzles when I’ve barely had the chance to try and figure it out.
