Last muppet-type central midfielder we've been linked with that's available. Playing in the U20 World Cup Final on Saturday, then home to sign for United on Monday morning! All aboard lads...

At this rate we are going, i would even take him. Young talent, plenty of resale value in future and wouldn't cost us more than 10m probably

After his U20 match, he'll need to go on holiday for a few weeks. After which our transfer team will take their own sweet time in wrapping up this transfer meaning we won't sign him up before the transfer deadline. I'd say it's a no go.

Going on holiday should be a capital offense. But even death is too good for these lazy feckers who seemingly can't go a few months without having their arse burnt by the sun on some sleazy, humid beach while the world of transfers is grinding to a halt.

How good life is for a top footballer. Your job is to play fecking football once or twice a week and a few hours of jogging and playing football again five mornings a week... Everyday is like a fecking holiday.

Don't think our club should look at resale value as big consideration.

Some on here are talking as if we've openly been in for a shite load of midfielders and have been publicly humiliated and turned down en masse. There's a good chance we've been in for one - Thiago - and Pep's come out and said he's interested.

Have I missed anything, or is that basically all that's actually happened to our knowledge?

Yeah, that's pretty much the long and the short of it.

This place is populated by spoiled drama queens.

I think people are just concerned about how we can't seem to attract the top talents to our club anymore, albeit for various reasons.

We could end up with Vidal, Modric, etc for all we know. If we have been in for Thiago, there is at least some evidence that Moyes means business as far as central midfield is concerned. It seems highly unlikely that he'd immediately attempt to strengthen that position only to then feck it off for the entire transfer window because Thiago moved elsewhere.

I think it's fair to say we are not at the top of the pile, yeah. Without knowing exactly who we've been in for it's difficult to say how much a problem this is, but with Lucas, Hazard and maybe Thiago there is a danger of a pattern forming.

Still, we're 12 days into the transfer window. If it gets to the end of the transfer window and we've been turned down left, right and centre then I'd agree there should be some level of concern on that front. As of now, there is basically nothing extra to support these concerns beyond the possibility of Thiago moving to the European Champions to rejoin with the former manager of the best team of all time (arguably).

It's fine to be worried that the club don't seem to be strengthening an area that needs to be strengthened (although it's still early, and there'll be plenty of business done over the next couple of months) & then there are the ridiculous overreactions by certain people on here when they don't get whatever flavour-of-the-month player happens to be available.

One other thing- we've bought two of the best young players in the world (Kagawa & DDG) & one of the best strikers in the last two years, so we don't have problems attracting players.

Looked a bit meh to me tbh. Tidy and sound but nothing to send pulses racing. No better than Cristóforo who is likely to sign with Catania for ~2.5M.

Sake. Madrid will ruin him. Wish we were in for him. He's a big, hard bastard. Even if he's shit, at least people can stop saying that we never replaced Roy Keane.

Spanish press are speculating that it's Kondogbia to Madrid and Khedira to Chelsea.

If that happens... well I'm used to missing out on affordable midfielders but it would ease the pain if Moyes told us we actually tried to get one of them, they just chose other clubs for whatever reasons. It would break my heart if we were never even in for either of them.

Since he's playing tonight for Sevilla, hopefully he impresses Moyes.

I'm pretty sure it' on.

Commentator just said he's close to signing for Juve for close to 19m pounds. Since when?

When has that ever stopped anyone. Bayern didn't need Thiago. Certain clubs seem to be stockpiling good midfielders and its fecking annoying!
United, bucking the trend again, ploughing our own course. Innovators. That's us.

In the latter years, I got the impression that Ferguson's priority was to have an amazing attack (strikers, wingers), great defenders and water-carriers in midfield.

I feel like Darke was wrong there, first off because he's generally quite clueless when it comes to most things, and also because Kondogbia has a release clause of 10 million euros, so why would Juve pay more then double that?
