Every time I read a story with us being linked with some young player, who most in the general public have not heard about, they tend to be "hottest young players in Europe" or "finest young XXXXposition players".

So is he really one of the finest young midfielder's in Europe? Or is that just added so they can say the big clubs are looking at him?

Don't be racist, Shinmo. Just because he is black, doesn't mean he can't be "hot". He's a sexy guy, it's no wonder the papers are fawning all over him in their descriptions.

I don't think you understand how muppetry works. We post good videos on players we are linked to. Good videos damn it! Not one showing him losing the ball countless times!

 I don't think he's that bad to be honest, quite alot of raw material to work with.

Didnt realise he had 3rd party ownership issues. Also he's not the type of player to look all that brilliant in a youtube video so its not surprising people who havent watched him play are unsure of him based on that. From watching him play he tackled well, shielded the ball brilliantly with his huge physique, he did look slightly clumsy at times but then at others he surprised me with a good dribble or two down the middle. I do think Alberto Moreno, Sevilla's 20 year old left back is their best young player instead but Kondogbia has a lot of promise too hence being linked with Madrid for so long this season. £8 million would be the right kind of fee

Similar to a young Lassana Diarra (what the feck's happened to him, by the way?) by the looks of him.

If we are signing this kid I hope he's nothing like Diarra who was painfully limited as a player

Wouldn't make United stupid, players are transfered in Spain for less than their buyout clause all the time

Why pay £1.5 million more than you need to? Especially when most of it'll end up with the third party.

No guarantee that its us who bid, but looks like someone wants to bring him to England. Will be interesting to see how he develops

Has he tweeted that he <3's Seville yet?

If not, it's on.

Oh, and also, the first result on Google images when you search for Kondogbia is the big unit himself challenging Thiago. A sign!

He's apparently very good and at £8m we don't really risk much. He's a strong defensive midfielder who has been compated to Vieira but I guess he's more around the level of someone like Seydou Keita (probably because I associate both with Sevilla) which would be good enough.

I'd also enjoy having a Wilfred and a Geoffrey in the team.

He barely looks coordinated in some of the clips but he's so huge he just seems to bulldoze his way around regardless. For £8M I'm guessing he's the Strootman alternative.

He was a danger on both ends of the pitch everytime we faced Sevilla. Fantastic in breaking up anything in the middle of the park, reading the game extremely well. I can't recall him ever being out of position. Young but gifted with great instincts and clear talent...plus, he seems not only unintimidated but ambitious. I think he's going to be great, a name to remember...Kondogbia

I'd be happy with a signing like him, very skilful for a big man.

What is his mobility like?

Agile and elusive, surprisingly high technical level to maintain possession even in tight spaces in a league like La Liga. Definite box to box player that is probably ideal in a counterattacking team. Del Nido must be desperate for a way to milk him for as much money as possible since the agreed buyout fee is a virtual bargain

I would've loved him but there's no room at Barcelona, would hate to see him end up in the capital...he's that good, IMO

I'm caught in two minds about that name ever being associated with greatness, to be honest. It's not bad but it's no Federico Macheda either so I have my reservations.

Or Jeff K. That would sound like JFK, and would inevitably lead to comical reminiscence in the future regarding where we all were when he was signed.

I guess he won't be joining us, what with us having the FaBIanski in our ranks.

Playing against Turkey in the U20 World Cup right now. Scored from about 6 inches, but generally looks pretty good in midfield. More skillful than I thought.

Are the games being shown on UK TV
