Wonder if they're going to campaign on lords reform? That inclusion in her speech will have been purposeful
What possible reform could be in anyway helpful to her?

Any sort of elected Lords would be much more powerful. Right now she could fill it with 1000 extra tories if needed.

Let's be honest his policies have feck all to do with it. When people are polled on them he does very well.

His problems stem from this countries obsession with personality politics and barrage of negative reinforcement.
I disagree, I think the majority of the negativity surrounding Corbyn from Labour's point of view comes from how he dealt with the Brexit vote and the eventual fallout.

This well may backfire. Not getting carried away by the polls

I have a funny feeling it will. When the British public have had two months of David Davis, Teresa May and Boris Johnston campaigning again - any kind of reaction is possible. Not to mention the inevitable re-emergence of the odious Nigel Farrage. Two months of that crew arguing in favour of Brexit could really result in wild electoral swings on polling day.

This is effectively a vote for a hard brexit? Looking forward to 4 years of 'it's the will of the people' as this country sinks deeper into the abyss.

Time to vote for anyone but the Tory candidate.

So what's the point of doing this now? Is it basically Labour are such a mess that Tories figure they can get a few more seats?

They know there's going to be a recession as soon as Brexit hits and that means they struggle in 2020. They very likely win now and put off a post recesssion election to 2022, when there may have been a recovery

on that basis, May should be screwed too!

The press absolutely lap up her 'straight talking, tell it how it is, Brexit means Brexit' authoritarian bollocks.

He was already a Lame duck by then. That might have been the nail in the coffin (as it was for me mostly) but he wasn't considered good before then.

Exactly what it is. Also insulates the Tories from the impending disaster.

Labour and Lib Dems need to collaborate to stop the Tories. Splitting votes gets the Cons in. Voter trading sites need to be set up like in US.

The young generation needs to massively step up now if there is to be any chance of stopping Brexit.

People will vote for May because they don't trust anyone else to negotiate and then we'll spend the next 4/5 years hearing these people complain as it all falls apart before their eyes.

Labour are pro brexit

Labours have only one play: That they will REMAIN in EU by somehow retracting article 50 (2).

Even that becomes difficult as its voting for Corbyn, which I'm very reluctant to do, despite having voted Labour all my life.

Why's that? Too far to the left for your liking or just because he's disorganised as a leader?

If Labour were united on a remain message with a leader that connected with the general public then it could happen. They're light years away from that unfortunately.

But perhaps this vote won't be about Labour. It could and should be an anti-Tory vote.

People can change their minds. Certainly politicians can! Corbyn was originally remain like 90% of all MPs. he only switched to respect the referendum result.

He was secretly BREXIT like traditional 80s Labour politicians mate. At PM Qs on the eve of Brexit, well the one before the refendum, his first question was on phone hacking, blatantly changing the subject away from benefits of remaining etc

Labour want their UKIP voters back too.

Horrible speech by May. Uninspired, hollow bollocks.

So how does one start campaigning? What can one do to help?

Hope those young Labour voters will get out of bed and vote this time instead of debating on social media

If tories get voted back in then there can be no complaints from the remain camp whatsoever

There can. Brexit was won on the back of a campaign of lies and fearmongering.

I will continue to complain about that, in the same way sensible people arent just lying down and taking Trump in the states.

Well it's a bit different isn't it? I assume there's remain voters who will vote May purely because they've always voted Conservative and this is a General Election.

But perhaps this vote won't be about Labour. It could and should be an anti-Tory vote.

It could but there's no way you get the results with such a split vote in a first past the post system. The only anti Tory vote you can bank on is the SNP and they already have nearly every seat in Scotland so that won't add any numbers to the Tory opposition in the Commons.

I disagree. It started way before that, and it's absolutely about personality politics.
In Westminster maybe, but I'm talking about Labour itself. Labour supporters did vote him in, but he would never have won a leadership election post Brexit. The party has been monumentally fractured since then.
