I really don't think this is about Labour.

Her negotiating position with the EU is extremely weak. So she needs every trick she can use.
Clear indication that negotiations aren't and won't go well. The EU don't give a feck if she wins every seat.

The EU might not, but without a strong majority and mandate from her own parliament, she would often have to dilute her starting negotiating position.

Makes perfect sense from her point of view, especially with the current state of Labour.

Can we not have a revolution? Feck her patriotic call to arms. Spookily similar to Erdogan's recent speeches.

It doesn't matter if people vote Lab/Lib/SNP down with the Tories!!

Wasn't that Brexit?

Advanced country with cushy lifestyles and fat waistlines. What is there to revolt over?

How could they do this? Corbyn's already pledged to support Brexit.

The Lib Dems and the SNP are the only anti-Brexit parties/ options.

People can change their minds. Certainly politicians can! Corbyn was originally remain like 90% of all MPs. he only switched to respect the referendum result.

Don't they have anything better to do than this election crap all the time?

Soon enough we'll be voting for whether they'll wipe their arse standing up or sitting down.
Or front to back/back to front. Still baffles me that people would smear their shit towards their balls.

So what's the point of doing this now? Is it basically Labour are such a mess that Tories figure they can get a few more seats?
Teresa May knows she has the country over a barrel now that she's triggered Art 50. Her popularity is high and she's the only real choice to lead Brexit negotiations.

Labour are still a mess and no one knows what the feck Lib Dems are doing.

Revolt over the fact we are going ahead with Brexit despite it being madness?

There needs to be some kind of Lab/LibDem/SNP/Green progressive alliance, i.e not splitting constituency vote, for there to be any chance of upsetting the tories. Not going to happen though, what with our archaic electoral system.

Yes, but Labour are pro-brexit

Just checked my Sky Bet account, and I made a random 20p bet on the next general election to be in 2017. A whopping return of 60p.

Corbyn's been fairly anti-EU for his entire career, which is the main reason he's been so anaemic over the issue.

Is Corbyn that useless?
He is a hard core left loon. Just too radical for centrists and left centrists like me.

Problem is Labour cant get rid of Corbyn. Labour MPs hate him, but party membership loves him

Labour is such a sham!

get David Miliband to stand on a pro EU front.

Labour's seats are mainly strongholds anyway, don't see them losing that many seats. Hope Lib Dems do much better than last time, but it's a pipe dream.

Hard left? What policies have Labour recently put out that are hard left?

Just to play along for a while, is it even possible for him to become PM? Would he qualify?

Id campaign like crazy for him every day!!!!

Dont think he'd qualify. Dual nationality isnt an issue but..

"The only rules say that you have to be a citizen of the UK, the Republic of Ireland or the Commonwealth, and over 18."

Booooooo

I think this would be the best bet but its very unlikely to happen. The Lib Dems won't do it for a start

John Curtice is on the BBC urging caution against the idea of a massive gain of seats for Tories, stating Cameron's 7 point lead only got him a majority of 12.

'She needs to win big' he says. To be honest you can see exactly that happening.

Wonder what the turnout for this one will be. There must be voter fatigue and apathy after two big votes in two years, a vote next month before this one, and two very uninspiring candidates in May and Corbyn.

May's speech was already based on negativity which will just be how it carries on for the next two months from both sides. Not much about what they'll do, more so about why the other side is terrible.

Didn't May promise more than once to refrain from snap elections but adhere to the usual election schedule?

I don't trust her at all, never have, just asking if my memory serves me right.

Smart play, Corbyn will fail in the campaign by himself but the 'you're supporting Brexit' line will be the icing on top. I don't see the Lib Dems causing any upsets with 2 months to try and tell the nation who the feck they are.

Yeah, they've been saying it publicly and briefing it to the press for months that there'd be no election to 2020.

This well may backfire. Not getting carried away by the polls

Let's be honest his policies have feck all to do with it. When people are polled on them he does very well.

His problems stem from this countries obsession with personality politics and barrage of negative reinforcement.

Wonder if they're going to campaign on lords reform? That inclusion in her speech will have been purposeful

on that basis, May should be screwed too!

There's massive apathy, and judging from the people at work (let's just say they were pro leave because they believed all the lies, and since they've regretted their vote) - they feel even less enthusiasm and trust for politicians than they did before.

I didn't vote in either but will absolutely voting this time, I've learned from my mistake and feel many, many others will do too.
