Can you describe these 'poor' people to me?

I'll describe the poor people Ive met in Tanzania, Bangladesh and Brazil.

Wanna play?

What complete and utter nonsense! I don't know where this idea came from that you can't be poor unless you live in a hut without plumbing and electricity, but it's both intellectually and morally bankrupt. But apparently you didn't "need" the services of state education or welfare, which puts you in exactly the right position to discount the suffering and challenges of others, I'm sure.

With that attitude I'm frankly shocked it took you this long to vote for the Tories. Maybe that's harsh, I don't know.

Anyway.... after 10 pages of talking about tax....

So. Tories. They suck.
:lol:The silver lining is the election got loads of traffic for our website and it gave me something to write the leader column on,

Another consequence is, the Tories will reform the house of Lords so that they can get away with more shit.

This is why I was baffled for so long that they were ruling out a GE, it was hard to see her position being any stronger than it is right now, and a very decent chance it'd weaken significantly.

Your parents came here with nothing but got rich enough quick enough to put 5 kids through private school. What class of drug did they deal?

Where do you think the vast majority of those teachers that taught you and your kids got schooled, privately? What about the doctors?

What about all the other services like transport, security, etc etc etc which you use daily?

Wind your bullshitting neck in.

Or what? And BTW: My parents paid top tax and so do I. So I reckon Im fine for using the roads and security.

I simply wont allow Corbyn to tax me even more. Labour is fecked because of people like you and all the other moaners on here. You wont get into power ever again if you insist on demonising people like me. Its nuts.

I wonder what effect this'll have on turnout in the May locals. Would already have been pretty low, think this'll probably drive it down even more.

We're basically on course to repeat the Conservatives reign of terror from 79-97, I mean one would imagine the next election after this will be in 2022 and then 2028.

These lot really know how to cling to power.

Ok, so this is getting more interesting. What job did they do?

Big words which mean absolutely nothing. Labour socialism has no relevance in 21st century Britain. Its what makes them unelectable.

If you lot were 'right' Labour would be smashing it right now. But they aren't. And even in that situation, you want to push life;ong voters like me away. Smart thinking g - well done.

Out of interest, what is wrong with voting Tory?

no need for you to know.

The problem with these discussion is instead of being about understanding others views, it become personal and about right or wrong. I dont have to justify myself here.

When you're using the history of your parents as justification for your views it's rather fair to ask. You decided to make it personal.

That's fine, really, but at the same time, you will vote and are therefore co-responsible for hard Brexit, more UK involvement in wars, open hostility against foreigners and muslims, the end of any data privacy, feck off the environment etc. That's okay but stop complaining about the Tories then if you give them the mandate to do so.

Why should I vote Labour? Why shoukd anyone vote labour?

Especially, why should Leave voter's vote labour?

Surprised to see your political stance in here considering you come across very different in the Trump thread. You would have ended up voting Trump if you apply the same criteria you are using here.

Yeah, that's true too. Although if you're a customer of the private sector you should (at least, theoretically) be able to choose not to give your money to a company that gives you a poor return. The frustration for top rate tax-payers is that you've no choice but to see your hard-earned pissed up against a wall.

On balance, I'm ok with this. I can't think of a better solution and want to live in a society that cares for its disadvantaged. Every now and then, though, I have a Tory moment and feel the red mist descend when I find out about yet another fecking colossal waste of my money and read left-leaning think-pieces (or statements from Corbyn) about how the solution is to screw even more cash out of me.
It's odd- after veering towards the right as I started earning in my 20s, through my 30s when I was better off, I kept drifting right. My strong dislike for swathes of the right in the run up to and aftermath of Brexit is pushing me back left...albeit, I couldn't ever be so far left as to back Corbyn's proposed profligacy.

I think you're trying very hard to seek attention and keep getting stuck in a web of your own lies.

Your parents came here with nothing yet very quickly they managed to pay the top rate of tax and put 5 kids through private school so again I ask you what class drug did they deal?

If after all this time you guys vote significantly for a pro-brexit party then you can have no complaints whatever happens.

What if I don't and again the campaign is won by lies and misinformation?

It's the Dan Hodges school of logic who is currently telling 'Corbynistas' that the GE result and the following 5 years will be their fault, while also voting Tory in it. Or complaining that people are being demonised whilst saying poor people don't exist but if they did they're all lazy assholes who get everything.

When you're using the history of your parents as justification for your views it's rather fair to ask.
not really. What they did has no relevance beyond they worked hard. Seems people on here are scared or incapable of working hard. ie: leave the EU.

Yep, kind of like the mantra that when there's blood on the streets, it's time to invest.

Would you consider the Lib Dems? Give them a think, anyway.

Indeed.

People are having a right old go at you for considering voting tory, but as an additional rate tax payer i think its a no brainer.

If nothing else its interesting to hear the other side

My parents were also immigrants like his and also worked extremely hard but never earned enough to hit the top tax bracket. I'm also curious of what they did as he has been claiming that anyone can do it if they work hard, maybe they came to the country with a skill, which would give them an advantage and puts a dent into his whole argument.

No its about trying to find a reason why anyone should vote labour. Watch Labour get the lowest ever vote in living memory.

Why will that be??? Answer the question.

Corbyn's Labour are committed to leaving the single market.

Labour have no chance whatsoever of challenging the Tories. That is the legacy of Corbyn's deluded supporters. His brand of politics cannot win in the UK 2017.

It's hard for me to understand if you hold the basic ideals that would generally have you voting Labour (workers rights, nationalisation, social state and associated taxation, redistribution of wealth, generally secularist) how you could then vote Conservative, who are, by and large, diametrically opposed to those ideals. But I've no idea what drives your voting behaviour and subjective right and wrongs aren't really going to add anything to a dialogue.

I'm more than happy for you to not vote Labour, because I will be and the idea that we share any platform politically is absolutely nauseating.
