Gary Neville

I like gary ultimately, decent guy and if you've seen that hidden camera joke video of the parking ticket a good un too. He just has too much to say, plenty like him

Yeah he's always been like that. He'd do your head in...in real life. Decent bloke though.

Sick of this absolute fecking clown, why is he sticking his 2 cents in? I genuinely question whether he wants the club to be successful, he almost feels like a saboteur at this point.

Absolute Sky sell out. If he knew a thing about Ten Hag he'd know that his philosophy is the closest thing to Pep's football that GNev w*nks over every week.
IMO all ex-United players to me feel like they don't want the club to succeed or get the absolute best people in. Remember Gary was bigging up Ole until the very end then suddenly changed his tune.
Gary Neville, Rio, Evra, Keane, all of them I've started to not pay attention to when it comes to this club. They're all full of s...t

The main thing I dislike about Neville is his commentary, especially when he calls an incident, sees a replay clearly at odds with his initial opinion yet he refuses to admit he might be wrong. Seen it a few times and I find it infuriating, especially when it's United on the receiving end.

Also why was he so anti Conte?, that was strange and disrespectful even.

Hard to work Gary out at times.

He wanks over pep and klopp every week, fair enough their teams are the best about. He is always talking about Philosophy, and what them managers teams bring to the table.

We are linked with a manager who seems to have a mix of both on the pitch and off it, believes in his philosophy, something that Gary likes to mention all the times, but sticks out a big vocal statement that Poch is his man, who to be honest is nothing like klopp or pep, in any way.

Why even comment. He is already setting his stall out.

He’s just being controversial and if Ten Hag doesn’t live up to expectations he’ll be free to tear into him, because he said Pochettino.

Can see it unfold. Been totally baffled why him and scholes etc have been bashing into Rangnick.............total hypocrites.

Love both of them so I will get over it  , but defo double standards at times.

If the club was successful (imagine it was like 1999 again) would all of these ex Utd pundits have a role on TV? The media companies like the controversy. For ex players who were fortunate to play in the golden era to slag off the club, managers even players now is TV gold for them. A cynical view could be Neville etc are clever enough to know this and maybe dont want the club to suddnly start doing well, otherwise they got nothing to moan about and consequently out of a job.

Nobody's going to agree with everything Neville says. He's outspoken and sometimes inconsistent in his opinions. Almost like a real human being!

He is an important voice in the English game though, there is no denying that. When I think about the TV coverage we get over here, I'm really only interested in ever listening to him & Carragher for any stretch of time. Keane to a slightly lesser extent. The rest of them I couldn't give a monkeys about. BT coverage is appalling, and I stopped watching MOTD years ago. People are too quick to hate on someone nowadays because they don't agree with everything that they think, but Neville would be sorely missed if he gave up his TV work.

Most of the fans don't agree with Neville's choice of Poch. But suggesting Poch over Ten Hag isn't a ridiculous argument which warrants him to be bashed on social media.

Most likely if Ten Hag is appointed and goes through tough period which is expected, he will use this to slag off the board on how they messed up by not hiring Poch.

Yes. But if Ten Hag doesn't succeed, so will a lot of fans. And it could be that Poch over Ten Hag may be the better footballing decision. Even I prefer Ten Hag over Poch at this point, but by no means is it a clear cut and obvious decision.

Neville has been a pundit on Sky since 2011.

This makes no sense to me.
Is it really that hard to make sense of? Nutters on the net are so hopped up on Ten Hag that they are frothing at the mouth at the likes of Neville for saying he'd prefer Poch. It's utterly pathetic and childish.

The Simeone one is abit bizarre. I can understand that viewpoint with Keane and maybe Scholes who have this idea that managers should run their teams/squads with a iron fist, though I think Simeone is abit more nuanced than that.
But the football style ,which would likely be produced, just goes against everything Neville himself seems to want from a United manager.

Still I admire the work Diego Simeone has done at Atletico Madrid and he's clearly up there as one of the best coaches in the game.
Doesn't change the fact though that Atletico Madrid were utter c*nts last week, mind.

On this page I've seen one person claiming that Neville's support for Poch has been concocted to allow him to criticise the appointment of Ten Haag and another claiming that ex-players actively want United to be shit to further their own media careers.

It must be exhausting going out of your way to assume the worst of people all the time. Everyone's opinions take into account their biases and blindspots and that includes ex-players. There's a certain arrogance to the belief that your opinion about who should be the next United manager is so self-evidently right that anyone who disagrees must be doing so as part of a shadowy conspiracy.

It's bizarre, they're either absolutely clueless imo or literally don't want to see the club be successful. I remember a rumour about how legends don't want Utd to challenge for/win big titles as it cements their legacy. In reality, it helps them push their personal brand too, so makes sense.

Well said. People weirdly take it personally when someone has an opinion that doesn't exactly align with their own. It's a bizarre self-entitlement. I really, really want United to hire Ten Hag, but I'm not going to start gnashing my teeth at the computer screen because Gary Neville doesn't agree.

Is there a club with fans like ours who dislike/hate ex players and legends so much? It's embarrassing at times some of the stick the likes of him, Keane, Rio, Scholes, Rooney etc get.
It there a club who's ex-players publicly hate on the current players so much? Definitely not in this country.

Personally I'm just bored of everything to do with the socialist man of the people property developer "G-Nev".

Agree with all of this. Nearly all other pundits are way too safe. They hold back criticism because they don’t want to ruin their ties with their club, upset relationships etc. I love that Neville gives it to the Glazers and doesn’t let them get away with anything, he’s a true pundit and really represents a typical fan.

These players deserve the fecking criticism. They are the best-paid squad in the fecking world!

At least he actually does something, and uses his platform to hold the government to account somewhat.

Man Utd fan has opinion on who the new Man Utd manager should be. Other Man Utd fans are outraged.

Jesus.

What, like that they shouldn't be seen in public because they went out of the CL?

He tweets about the govt yeah - yet he's a huge capitalist and business magnate, has a carefully curated brand and PR image, and when it comes to footballing opinions, for example: states the importance of managerial continuity whilst firing them every 6 months.

Neville is full of shit here. I don't understand this obsession people have with how and where players spend their personal time. If I have a bad day at work, I don't blank my friends and family for 3 days. Rashford jetting to Dubai for a couple of days to watch boxing after a loss is the equivalent of me driving down to London to watch Chelsea and spend time with friends after a bad day at work, except I don't have fans, ex players and journalists snooping around my social media itching to give me a telling off for not being miserable.

It's such an absurdly bizarre expectation to put on them.

He gets far too much hate. Suppose fans can ignore him if he winds them up with his opinions. He's still a lot better than most pundits despite being opinionated, but he's passionate and clearly wants United back to winning ways. I like the way he's pressurised the Glazers, especially for a new Old Trafford - not that it makes a difference but it's a fan's voice in the media.

He also said that he doesn't want United to have a "philosophy" other than the one it already has, after the failure's of Mourinho and Van Gaal. Presumably he is referring to the mythical 'United way', which can mean whatever anyone wants it to mean

From 2019:
https://www.skysports.com/football/...opt-different-philosophy-at-manchester-united

Probably explains why he is leaning towards Poch over a man like Ten Hag.

If Neville wants Poch because he thinks he brings ‘the United way’ and any different ideas outside of that is hogwash, then he can go spin.

I don’t think he’d have supported hiring SAF back in the 80s. He’d have probably said that we should have kept Dave Sexton or give Wilf McGuinness another shot, because Ferguson hasn’t experienced English football.

His opinion on wanting Poch over Ten Hag is fair enough, we won’t know who was right or wrong until we hire one of them and see how they do. I think I’d prefer the latter, but he’s far from a guarantee.

Carragher sided with Neville, so that's 2 of the largest profile pundits in agreement on said issue. You can try and paint it like Neville is way out on a limb but it's clearly not the case. I think it's fairly natural for United fans to feel a bit aggrieved seeing the players swan off to Dubai to watch sporting events in gaudy jewelry after their utterly abject performances this season. Why do you think there is so much hostility surrounding everything to do with United at the moment? The club is a shambles and the players aren't pulling their weight - worse still, they don't even seem like they care. Rashford in particular isn't even doing the basic stuff like running, despite being paid £250k a week. So yeah, I'd say there are legitimate questions to be asked about some of the player's mentality.

Has he ever proclaimed himself as a dyed-in-the-wool socialist, or is this just another stick of yours to beat him with? He's given literal quotes about how Labour needs to not only look after the left, but to come to the centre. Besides, you can still be entrepreneurial and hold left-wing ideals and want a fairer, more equal society, you know? As far as I know, most of his business interests are in hospitality. If he pays his employees a fair rate and improves areas without bullying smaller independents, what's the problem?

He is just a modern day Walter Mitty. I wouldn't listen to a word he says.

100%. I watched his sky interview with Beth Rigby and I got the classic social media influencer hustler vibe from him, he thinks he's a lot more intelligent than he really is.

I pitty the English public when he becomes a politician.

I do wish Gary would try to attain a shred of credibility in his pontificating, but that would firstly require a shred of morality.

Has been a director of SIXTY (60) Companies all in all and we all know what that's about.

I find him uninvestable so I'm out.

He's right, the players should be showing some remorse, introspection, and humility in serving up another shite season. Even for just a week, just pretend, ffs.

Also, why are people bringing his company accounts here? When did we become KPMG
