Gary Neville

I have seen us take some humiliations in recent seasons. Saw Spurs come to Old Trafford and score six. Saw Liverpool score five. Then four in the next game etc.

Every time Gary Neville was able to overlook the errors of players like Maguire and Shaw. Yet, all of a sudden, he's throwing s-t at Bruno.

Gary Neville has his favourites. Usually the players he's worked with as a coach. As you can see from him bending over backwards to justify Harry Kane trying to set his own price tag.

With these he will rarely, if ever, admit any fault. Everyone else is fair game though. It's sad to see his biases play out in real time.

Agreed picking on Bruno who was as inept as all the rest and basically lying to say he asked to be subbed amongst the chaos borders on bullying. If Bruno was British I don’t think he would have done it. The evidence doesn’t stack up against that claim at all. The team performance was a disgrace I agree with in that second period. They’ve played a lot of football, everything Liverpool touched hit the back of the net, it’s our worst hunting ground and always has been..say all of that…but don’t pick out an individual when the collective was so shocking.

He’s still known as “Red Nev” by oppos, I can’t understand why. He’s basically the only pundit who you wouldn’t be able to guess who they support…

Neville has always been an idiot, and I’ve always hated his coverage of our games. People care more/suddenly now as this is Bruno - but he did the same thing regarding Pogba away at Wolves when we drew. He dedicated about 15 minutes post-match to a made up theory that Pogba had ‘typically and selfishly’ taken a penalty away from Marcus Rashford. In fact, he quickly retracted and said Pogba was likely the penalty taker, then proceeded anyway in the name of a hypothetical scenario in which he wasn’t.

He’s extremely negative towards us and does more than any other pundit and spreading negative sentiment about us. He exaggerates everything in the extreme and is generally a prick who even despite the scope of his job, is over-opinionated and thinks he knows everything about everything.

He should apologise to Bruno. Just as he should have apologised to Pogba, which more people would have probably seen at the time if Pogba was not permanently fair game for any form of attack.
Honestly his reaction due to that Penalty situation at Wolves a couple of seasons back pretty much solidified himself as a full on ott, reactionary, toxic tw*t.
I think it was only our 2nd or 3rd game of the season too.

Oh so he was the one who started these Bruno wants to be subbed speculation? To the point the BBC have come out and said that it wasn’t the case.

I hate the fact even our own ex-players go after the foreign players, because god forbid you accuse any English player of something unsporting and keep the narrative that they’re all pure untainted people.

Bruno is captain and acted in a disgraceful manner, just because he doesn't have a British passport doesn't mean he should be exempt from criticism.

Maguire was crucified by the media and his own supporters for failing as a captain

Added to the fact he’s very quick to come out and say how the game and everyone involved is much more aware these days of mental health and taking lads out for a breather when needed i.e Sancho and everyone is more balanced in their criticism etc but then he goes and takes the opposite stance himself. Prob just to enhance his unbiased views for United. So poor from him and I hope it’s getting plenty of scrutiny on Twitter and he’s made to apologise. I think Scholes got a call from Wilshere for far less.

Utter wanker spreading fake news live on commentary.

Obviously. He absolutely fecking hates Bruno and takes any chance to stick the boot in.

Why he even needs to make shit up to do so when we're getting twatted 7-0 is beyond me, though.

One unrelated question, why do you sign on to a rival team website? There are only few reasons behind it and all comes out as bad reasons.
Because @B20 hasn't got a lot going on in his life by the look's of things - imagine have thousands upon thousands of posts on a Liverpool forum? Not for me, wouldn't even fancy registering at one. Why would I unless I'm on a wind up? He's been here for decades as well hasn't he? Weird behavior that.

Back to Nev - I love him. Good lad and speaks well. I don't want him sucking up to us like Deluded Souness and the other 10000 Scouse pundits do with Liverpool.

Still remember he claimed Bruno whinged and complained for a corner v Newcastle when all he did was raise his hand for an obvious corner that was his.

Sutton has written in the Daily Mail about Bruno wanting to get subbed off

See how easy false narrative can get pushed

Calling it disgraceful is going a bit over the top. Bruno is a fairly demonstrative sort and so the hand waving etc. is part of the package and has been explained many times over. His performance was awful yesterday but after a 7-0 win I think it would be pretty hard to name a United player who wasn't awful.

Maguire was mostly spared criticism for a couple of seasons and really only began to get real stick last season when he turned in a seemingly endless string of performances that were astonishingly poor. Bruno, by virtue of playing for United, is easily the most hated player in the PL and the tragedy is that a lot of that hate comes from so called United supporters and ex players.

Don’t get the overall hate towards Gary on here.

It's actually amazing how many time people wrote this in this own thread, before even reading it.

You might not agree with the hate, but there is literally 120 pages of stuff here why people don't like his commentary.

I can't stand Neville but I wish he'd have headbutted Souness, what a cnut that man is. Literally goading him on feed, spouting absolute non-sense the dinosaur

Have you actually seen the part of the match where Neville said he asked to come off? He clearly didnt.

Bruno was hoisted by his own petard. Nevile is a fecking slidder.

The Neville related non-drama doesn't concern me as it was clearly nonsense... it's the general attitude when a game goes against us and the emotional instability that does

This fanbase (including myself) has an overegged opinion of the importance of the captain anyway so it was inevitable that Bruno would be on the receiving end of ridicule from the media/supporters after that shambles. Identical to Harry Maguire. Roy Keane is still fresh in the memory for a significant proportion of the fanbase and that affects how we all want a Manchester Utd captain to act

Manchester United legend btw

Maybe it's just me but I think his playing time at United is massively overrated. I have never felt safe enough with him and always think we should upgrade his position, even during the Treble era. Compare to other players of the team who are among the top of the world in their position, he's quite lackluster. Basically, for me he needs United much more than United needs him.

The less talk about his opportunist personality the better.

As an opposition supporter I can tell you he was perfect for your team when he played. A right tw*t against teams he played against but a manic through and through. I don’t know if anyone else would have played his part any better than he did.

The Red is not entirely down to the shirt colour he wore as a player

It's just you, ask SAF if he agrees, he'd just laugh at you

He's clearly a very emotional watcher, you can see that from the Salford documentaries and it's obviously the case for our games too. That's fine, probably the majority of the fanbase are similar. But if you're commentating on our games you have to be able to rein it in at times.

Bruno is getting absolutely destroyed by the media and a large part of that is down to Gary saying he was asking to be subbed which was soon to be shown as utter nonsense. But comments like that stick, will get brought up all the time and have now led to a massive discussion everywhere about the captaincy which is completely unnecessary and another unwanted distraction for the team and manager.

If he can't become more rational in his commentary then he needs to stop doing our games.

Has he not apologised yet?

I don't like Bruno at all but that was bang out of order from Neville. It's was a character hit on Bruno and the misinformation has spread like wildfire. As the single source of spreading this lie, Neville should have apologised immediately it came out that he didn't ask to be subbed.

When it came to speaking about the super league he had no problem getting in front of a camera on his off day and being in the limelight. There's no excuse for not apologising yet.

Neville is so damaging to the image of Manchester United; win, draw or lose. feck him, honestly.

Also, my wife and I met him last year at an event - prick there too.

Also don’t get how Souness refused to admit we were better first half, that must have been to just wind Gary up. Even my most biased scouse-loving mates accepted that.

I actually think that's why Carragher was laughing in Gary's direction - even Carragher thought United were better first half and it was almost a laugh of disbelief rather than Carragher joining in on the goading. Souness is beyond deluded, it gets me wound up listening to him sometimes, he's so out of touch.

Even when Bruno went down (yes I know he dives and moans a lot) but Neville calling it a disgrace him holding his face when he was pushed in the chest. You can see on the replay he did catch his chin/mouth.

I thought the exact same when they showed the replay - it was clear as day that he did get a little whack on the chin (albeit a massive overreaction from Bruno).

"I have to say.. Manchnaited have totally lost their heads this second alf".

Should at least put a tweet out apologising for the hysterical garbage he was spewing about Bruno.

Not only was he inaccurate at the time, he has now created a far wider issue which does nothing but add fuel to the fire.

Nice one Nev you fecking idiot!

He’s so proud and stubborn he won’t have the humility to apologise or admit he was wrong. He’ll find some angle to try and justify he was correct.

At least carragher (who is a world class spanner) admitted he was wrong about Martinez.

I hope ETH and our players refuse to speak to Neville or give him any interviews after all this.
