Gary Neville - Pundit

What reason has he got to be loving this? Poor fecker looks battered...
Like I’ve said already I think he enjoys seeing the club struggle so much because it reinforces how good the team he played in was. It’s like watching your ex struggle without you.
Every time he speaks about United it’s in a negative way, even when we beat city he was putting the team down. It’s pathetic.

It’s annoying how Neville has all of these little agendas. Like Bruno at Anfield a few years ago lying about him, etc.

I like the guy, but just give some of the lads a break?
He's just pointing out the obvious. As a player and a fan that lived through our most successful period EVER he is in a good position to criticise.
We used to outrun top teams with plenty of average players (eg vs arsenal) - about 8 mediocre players/defenders - da silva twins o'shea etc. But the professionalism around the club feels like it's gone and basics standards are wank.

You’re the one being thick if you don’t know he is absolutely loving the way the club is now. Anyone with a brain cell listening to him tonight would know he was delighted seeing how poor the team is.
No you’re thick and you’re talking utter shite. I tuned in post match and he literally looks broken and frustrated.
You ever heard of a thing called “nervous laughter” ? Look it up… amazing that I’m having to explain this to what I believe is a grown up.

Ok. Explain to me then why he was pissing on the team when we beat city? What was the reason for his negative reaction after that game?

Utter bollocks. You got the last 2 words right, though.

Nah he sounded genuinely hurt as a fan tonight. He's upset as all fans are.

How could he not be negative about this club at present? Its a far, far cry from the club he was at, and the club we ought to want our club to be.

Because despite winning the game we were still pretty shite as a team, especially as an attacking force

Ah ok, so like every United fan in the world did that day after beating City away, he choose to be negative and look at it like the glass was half empty. Got it, thanks for clearing that up for me.

He isn't hurt when he's pissing himself laughing at our fans looking glum in the stadium. He's always sticking the knife in on us. Don't know what happened to him but he doesn't move like a United die hard in no way.

Thank god, someone else can see it.

I have never in my life seen a United “fan” laughing at the fans the way he was tonight. As shite as Liverpool have been for most of my life I have never once seen an ex Liverpool player laughing at the state their club was in, even when the players wore t - shirts supporting a racist.

People crying about him laughing at the shellshocked fans don’t understand northern humour, it was proper gallows stuff.

I was laughing along with him through the agony and I expect many other Mancs were too.

Yeah definitely gallows humour, sometimes there's nothing you can do but laugh at how shite we are. It's not like tonight was unexpected.

A guy who played for the club for over 20 years cant have his opinions, but you as a fan can? Or your opinion matters more than him? We have our worst ever season in the premier league and a former captain hates that. Yes he is the one who is very pathetic....

Well not every fan makes a living and has their TV career fully focused on shitting on United in order to generate views and clicks

You just can’t see the point I’m making.

Quality control
He’s a rat.

If fergie was manager, would he still have behaved as he has towards this club in the last decade?

Rat

He also knows what he's seeing is not the real deal. A lot of fans want him to praise us yet days or weeks later we're in the shit again with a new low. Gary will know we've not been close to a team he's been in.

I even felt he was a bit harsh in the win over city yet look how we've been since.

Who gives a shit about who he was as a player. This is who he is now, shithouse who attempts to generates clicks whenever United suffer

This annoyed me too.
I don’t doubt his affection for the Club but when he commentates it’s as if his attempts at appearing neutral means he favours whoever Utd are playing. Tonight though for whatever reason he did come across as if he was taking pleasure in the misery of our fans at certain points in the game.

It’s the constant negativity that gets me, we all know it’s shite, absolutely shite, but he seems to thrive when things are at their worst with United at the moment. Laughing at the miserable fans tonight was the last straw for me, there should be a certain bias that you’ll defend your club no matter what and no matter how shite things get laughing at fans who’ve attended the match is a move no United fan would make.

Liverpool have been shite for the best part of 30 years, can you ever recall an ex Liverpool player acting about Liverpool the way Neville acted about United tonight and in recent times?

I remember some pretty harsh things when Phil Thompson was manager and the period of Europa home defeats. Might've been McAteer for some of it. McManaman can has been scathing at times in comms and post match during the bad times.

The calamity of United's failure is not lost on Neville though, the amount of money spent since 2013 for the results performances and ongoing slide is baffling, you can only be so angry then it gets ridiculous if required to keep commentating on it. Watch his other stuff unrelated to United he's usually smirking and getting the giggles, just how he is.

I'd like to say he's been harsh but he's right to not get caught up talking up anything time and again.

And I think your analysis is nonsense... it's hurting him as much as it is us

 He's desperate for United to be good again. Can't believe anyone thinks that he's loving United being this shite.

I know it's not easy to be single around this time of the year, but damn.

I'm waiting for someone here to actually blame Gary for the performances... not sure how anyone can think he's enjoying this

I went to the game last night, all my mates were laughing and taking the piss and they are United fans. Hell even I was laughing about how shit we are, it's just how we deal with shit.

Neville thinks Gvardiol has been the best left back in the league this season

What?

Not Robinson? Kerkez?

Not sure he knows them tbh

He did not say that, did he?!
He did and looked embarassed when Carragher laughed at it because I think he knew that he hadn't watched enough games to form an opinion and probably only saw ones in which Gvardiol scored so picked him.
