He has been a great presenter and seems to be a decent bloke. Will be sad to see him go but Chapman is a great replacement if it is to be him.
It’s the natural progression. Surely you got MOTD2 to MOTD. It’s like the manager leaving and giving the job to the U21s manager.Yeah, he's a good egg. Fingers crossed.
Since when did 54 become too old to be relevant?I stopped watching ages ago. The commentary is awful, the analysis is poor, Shearer and Lineker are too old to be relevant and Lineker's marketisation of his left wing political opinions through his podcasting discredits the BBC's impartiality.
Why? No different to the youtube highlights thenSack the "experts" and in-studio guff and make it an hour long showing only the highlights.

Not fond of Shearer because of his clear anti-United views, but really don't think he should be cast off based on being over 50.
The commentary is awful because they always commentate with the benefit of hindsight. They’ve been doing it for at least a decade too and it ruined it for me as soon as I noticed it. I remember mentioning it to my dad years ago when we were watching it together and he didn’t believe me until the commentator said something like “it’s Baines on the ball, it’s been a drought of 80 matches for him now as he seeks to end it, and he’s played a quick one two there and… BAINES FROM 30 YARDS!”I stopped watching ages ago. I'd be happy with this, yeah.Sack the "experts" and in-studio guff and make it an hour long showing only the highlights.
An urban myth, apparently: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/mppCLzgLcc5Z0Jsbs6NcnQ/frequently-asked-questions & https://johnroder.com/blog/are-the-match-of-the-day-commentators-at-the-stadiums.The commentary is awful because they always commentate with the benefit of hindsight. They don’t every time too.
Same, I'll watch it if I'm home while it's on. Though I do tend to fast forward the "analysis" if I've started it late.I must admit I still watch it. As readily available football is, I still prefer waiting until MOTD to watch the goals. I'm a sucker for tradition.
Wouldn't complain about this.Would say at this point it's basically nailed on to be Chappers
Heard it will be Alex Scott
Same, if only to see the devastated ABUs in the studio forced to praise us.I watch it when the results have gone OK for United - and find it a decent enough show still. But I don't bother with it when it's been a(nother) shitty weekend for us results wise.
You're right. He's only protesting a conflict where tens of thousands of kids have been killed and 1 in 10 child becomes an amputee everyday. How dare he? Its not like BBC is also protesting the Ukrainian conflict right?I stopped watching ages ago. Last episodes aren't out yet but the week before last got 3.1m views.Does it get good ratings still?
I don't know why you'd think that, he's about as constant as it gets.Getting some serious Mandela Effect vibes here. Could've sworn he left years ago.

First post in the Jenas thread is a 2020 Daily Mail "Exclusive" about him taking over from Lineker: https://www.redcafe.net/threads/jermaine-jenas-sacked-by-bbc.453072/.I'm pretty sure this headline has happened at least 3 times over the last few years.
Yeah I tend to drift off onto my phone with the match analysis stuff. I don't even watch it on live games either to be honest.Same, I'll watch it if I'm home while it's on. Though I do tend to fast forward the "analysis" if I've started it late.
Sarcasm?

Coin coin coin coin coin coin…I like Lineker. But I don't watch MOTD. Thank god Jenas won't get it. That utter, utter twat.
BBC isn't impartial. Nor is the league. When they're holding silences for Ukraine. As for my sharing his views, any human will.I don't think you get the meaning of the word impartiality. The BBC isn't supposed to be taking sides, and it doesn't become OK just because you happen to share his views.
But it's not only that, he's set up an entire podcast company in competition with BBC News where Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart and co are sounding off daily.
Hardly likely is it? That’s like us bringing Ten Hag back as CEO in 6 months. As long as it isn't that cockwomble Jenas replacing him.
