Gareth Bale

Bale is the player I would most love to see here, and I'm certain he's at the top of our most wanted list.

If woody could pull this one off, it would be awesome.

He is so at home in the Prem.

What makes you certain of this?

What makes you certain of this?

See the video?

Seriously, fans love players who can do the unexpected. Cantona, Ronaldo, Hughes, Berbatov, they could all produce magic out of nothing and get the crowd on their feet.
Bale can play on both wings, as a number 10, striker, full back, wingback. Has horifying pace, great in the air, powerful shots, freekicks.
If this is not a perfect fit for United, I don't know what is.

So before I watch the video, does it confirm why he is the top of United's most wanted list?

Yeah, he's a classic United type player and we should be doing everything we can to bring him here. Let's face it, it shouldn't be too difficult given his own fans are constantly booing him and waving white hankies at him.

He's almost single-handedly dragged Wales from 90th to 10th in the FIFA World rankings. Compare this with Messi who visibly wilts on the international stage, away from his Barca comfort zone.

Are you seriously comparing the two players?

No. All I am saying is that Bale has shown that he has shown that he is able to transfer his abilities to different teams, styles of play, etc. On the evidence to date, Messi has not been able to do this.

Well on that evidence mate, I certainly know which player I'd want most in my team....Messi.

He hasn't exactly lit up Madrid so far...

I will like Perez a bit if he refuses to sell Bale to us, especially for crazy money.

He did pretty well in his first season given that he is playing next to Ronaldo, who is a very dominant figure in their play.

United allegedly offered Spurs £100M for him in 2013. That is how much they valued him. He was the football writers player of the year, PFA player of the year 2011 and 2013. Almost single handedly took spurs into the top 4. They fell away while he was injured.

Do you think all of a sudden he's shit now, and not worth bothering with?

 No. Where have I said that?

But you said that you were certain he was our top target still. I asked how you were certain of this? You have bumped the bale thread saying this, no? That you are certain he is still our target!

We wanted Vidal last year, Fabregas the year before and never got them. Both players have since moved on from the clubs (Vidal just a matter of time to Bayern) and we never went in for them again. Just because we bid 100m in 2013 (when LvG wasn't our manager), doesn't mean that we are definitely in for him again does it? Of course I would love for this to happen, so that's why I was asked why you are sure of your certainty?

There's zero chance of this.

Not quite zero, there's a chance Real will cave in with the prospect of a massive bid from United. If Bale is unpopular with the Real fanbase, that doesn't speak much about his marketability as the world's most expensive player.
Real fans wouldn't care if they sold Bale to United, especially if this meant that Ramos stayed as a consequence. It's all ifs and buts, but as long as Bale is miserable, and the fans are miserable with him, our chances will look better.
Interesting also that Coleman has now advised Bale to stay at Madrid. Why would he do that? Is something going on behind the scenes between Bale, Madrid, and ?

Obviously it's down to the availability of the player, and discussions between both clubs, the player himself, and agent. We can only speculate, and I am personally certain United want him based on what I've said to you.
What I don't know is how possible it is for us to get him. If Bale fulfills his potential this season, Real have one hell of a player, but if his slump continues, they could seriously cash in on him and go after some new meat before the season starts, while also knowing this would please the fans also. It's like a game of poker right now, and Real are putting on their poker face. It's poker for us too, cause what if he can't recapture his Tottenham form with us?
The difference is that we have so much financial power, we would get the money back within a year, with the excitement of the fans and optimism with the sponsors.

I tell ya, if we signed Bale, the rest of the premier league would go......SSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTT :nervous:

Argentina have reached 2 finals in the last year, Messi has been their best player in both tournaments. Do you actually watch Messi for Argentina?

At best, he was their fifth best player (after Cristiano, Modric, Di Maria and Ramos; in that order).

He was (by far) their worst starting player this season.

Di Maria wasn't all that great in that season. It was mostly his MOTM performance in the CL final which had everyone singing his praises.

He definitely was great last season. After Ronaldo, him, Ramos and Modric were their best players.

He was brilliant in the final, but he was very good on the entire seaso too.

Wow. Leading a team that hasn't qualified for any international competition because they're doing well in a few games in qualifiers is certainly comparable to doing well at World Cup and Copa America.

Regardless of all this bickering, Bale would be perfect for Utd. He ticks all the boxes for what we require of a wide attacking player and all this talk of him not fitting into LVG's system is frankly, complete bollox.

He was very good in his first season...
Very good is something to be expected with a 100m price tag. So far he hasn't proved himself to be one of the top players at Real. For me James first season was better than Bale's. If Bale has another season like the last one I fully expect Madrid to get rid of him next Summer like Sneijder, Robben and the likes..

Yeah man, crazy how these arguments against Messi keeps popping up. Imagine if Argentina had actually won either of the international tournament finals they were in over the past year...it's crazy man.

But yeah, not to derail the thread.

Yeah but he's done it against Andorra. Has Messi? Didn't think so.

I agree with you here and have this horrible feeling that we are being bated to buy him at a ridiculous price when he becomes available.

Agreed. I think next year he will be available for a price a lot less than this year. We should wait a year if we're in for him at all. Real will buy their next shiny toy in the meantime as well.

The majority seem to want to disrespect him claim James and Di Maria having these greater seasons.. But yet if the price is right we all want him?

Nice!

Can we just admit he is what we need and would easily be the best player in the EPL.

No. Because he wouldn't.

Bale would be perfect, but he isn't leaving. Maybe next year if he have a really bad season, but i don't believe with his qualities he will fail again.

Sanchez/Hazard/Aguero/Silva

Take your pick.

Except for Sergio Aguero that list is laughable. They are not in Bale's tier. He sits with your Luis Suarez and Neymar's of this world. He would be the best player in the league it's not a debate.

Can't believe you named Sanchez.
