Gareth Bale

Except for Sergio Aguero that list is laughable. They are not in Bale's tier. He sits with your Luis Suarez and Neymar's of this world. He would be the best player in the league it's not a debate.

Can't believe you named Sanchez.

Actually I completely agree with him. I'd easily have Aguero and Hazard over Bale. Sanchez too. Silva probably not, its tight though.

Of course he's better than Silva :wenger: Amazed someone would say Silva's better. I'd have Bale in the same class as Aguero. I personally would prefer him to Sanchez/Hazard. Just think he has more in his locker. Different style of players though as the two above are more agile and technical like Messi, while Bale is like Ronaldo. I'd put him in the second tier along with Neymar, Suarez etc.

Bale needs to come back to the PL. He suits it a lot more, and he needs to be the top dog of the team to thrive - see Wales and Tottenham. He'll forever be in Ronaldo's shadow at Madrid.

Bale is the player I would most love to see here, and I'm certain he's at the top of our most wanted list.

If woody could pull this one off, it would be awesome.

He is so at home in the Prem.

Watching this again, I've decided from all the top players in the world, Bale is the best at using his pace. It actually looks as if he analyzes the defenders in front of him, checks out their pace and just believes that he'll get by them. You just know that for most of those solo goals, he knew that after a 2/3 touches he'd be through on goal against the keeper. Frightening how easy the PL was for him  I heavily rate Bale, but even I forget how good he was in that season. The various type of goals he scored - my favourite is the one against Swansea I think. The technical ability to just control it and instantly punch it with the outside of the foot within miliseconds, such ease.

He'd suit us perfectly too. Having him on the right side or even behind the forward, fecking lethal. Hopefully he'll have another medicore (for him, which is the type of season many top players would actually like to be honest) season and Madrid get bored of him.

He's just world class when running at defenders or goal keepers. A shame people think he's crap because his style isn't about trickery.

Madness how anyone can say Bale is better than Silva. Absolute madness.

That is exactly what he does. He did it against Rio in the 12/13 season at OT. Think Spurs won it 3-2 in the end.

He just went around him and slotted it past DDG.

Based on what?

You were telling people to dream on about the Ramos rumours but you are hopeful of us getting Perez's darling Bale, who himself doesn't want to go? LELZ.

I was telling Real to dream on, if the rumored £50M asking price for Ramos was legit. United wouldn't spend £50M on a defender past his best.
I have also said that our chances of signing Bale this year are slim at best, but I haven't written it off totally because of the figures involved for a player who is ridiculed by the Madrid fans. If the world's most expensive player is not as marketable as he should be, Madrid could cave in at the last minute and sell him. With Real possibly getting £70 - 100M with De Gea somewhere involved in the deal, and then having the ability to replace him with a more suitable player for them, its going to be tempting for them. Madrid will obviously say that they do not intend to sell, but they will be determined to try and maintain a high asking price. Behind the scenes they'll probably be looking at bids just to get an idea of his evaluation. With such an unpopular player in the squad who happens to be their most expensive, they'll be monitoring offers for sure. They'll also be looking at his performances, and the reaction of the fans, as well as what the coaching staff think. It wouldn't shock me if Real sell him in the final week of the transfer season if a huge bid comes in. But it also wouldn't shock me if he stayed another season.

The reason why I think we should try and get him this season, is because there is a high probability that the FFP regulation will be abolished by next season, and we will not be able to compete with City for players like Bale.

He's the most expensive player in the world. How exactly did you want me to answer this?

Only reason why people don't like him is because he moves robotic and seems to make playing on pace alone look easy. Ain't the end of the day you can't get to the level he is at from just being fast.

What have Neymar and Suarez done that Bale hasn't.

It's insulting to Suarez to put Bale alongside him.

Having said that, he would be a great for us. Shame he's Perez' toy.

Probably by not saying "he's the most expensive player in the world".

James Rodriguez went for 70 million. I reckon he's almost as good as Ronaldo, who isn't as good as Bale. Nothing quite like logic in my book.

James Rodriguez is actually a very good player... But I was being facetious.

Me too, but he isn't in the same bracket as Suarez either way.

Rodriguez is indeed. Had an excellent year last year but obviously he isn't one of he three/four best footballers around.

He is the most overrated player here since Danny Welbeck.

He was the weakest point in Madrid last season and arguably not even in their top 10 players. Yet mainoldo insists that he is on Suarez and Neymar level despite not being even close.

Presumably you thought the same about Robben in 2009?

Gareth Bale is easily one of the top 10 players in the world. How can anybody not recognise that? He's an incredible talent.

No, he is not. He maybe was in 12-13, but since then he has been far from top 10. On last season alone, he wasn't even top 50. All out of Ronaldo, Isco, James and Benzema were better than him on attacking department, with Kroos, Modrid, Ramos and Marcelo being better from other departments. And that is only from Real Madrid's players.

Robben was one of the most talented players of his generation and one of the players with best technique I have ever seen. Bale is strong, pacey and has a good shoot on him but his technique is as average as it can be.

why are we even discussing bale. hes not going to be here this season. he doesnt want to be here and madrid dont want to sell him.

He's so far away from Robben it's not even funny.

Bale vs Silva/Sanchez hard one that.

Nah not really Bale every day of the week and twice on sunday, it shouldn't even be something that needs discussing. In his last year at Spurs he was better than either of those players have been in England.

Hazard will shortly be a better player if he isn't already, Aguero as well but i would take Bale over Aguero also given Aguero's injury record.

Anyone surprised he's not made an impact at Real? I'm not. However, he could be a fantastic signing for United - we don't really have a player like that (er... Well... That Argentine bloke er...).

No he's not.

Interesting. I guess best way to look at that is ...you're a manager, unlimited funds and can buy any players in the world. You're building a squad not a team so can have any amount of strikers, midfielders etc...is bale one of first ten players you buy?

Bale scored more goals last season than Robben did in his entire 2 years at Madrid and that was on a poor season for him.

If he came back to this league he'd tear it up but he's too good for it.

He wouldn't make the first ten. Squad is a possibility.

Only defender/goalkeeper that would have a chance of making the world's top 10 footballers are Neuer and Thiago Silva IMO, so that is a little bit skewed.

That said, I probably would.. and he'd probably score the winning goal in the Champions League final the next season. He's definitely better than any player in our league and there'd be a few people looking foolish around these parts.

I remember this happened with Ronaldo in his early days at Madrid. 'Oh he's not the player he was at United'. That happened for a few seasons to him, too.

Who said that ? Ronaldo hit the ground running at Madrid, scoring 33 goals (7 of them in 6 CL matches) and 13 assists in 35 games despite suffering a foot injury in the first season half. His second season half was already extremely strong. The season after that he scored more than 40 goals in the league and over 50 overall.

Ronaldo had never a season as poor as Bale did last season. Not even close.

Not at all. He has very limted technique to shine in Madrid.

It is the same reason why I don't like him here. As long as LVG is our manager, Bale would be almost useless here. If SAF was our manager, Bale should have been our No.1 target.

The funniest thing is that even doing an awful season, being out of top 10(I think that he is),etc..there will be clubs(maybe United?) next summer willing to pay 120-150m€.

That would be laughable. But the world (of football) is an increasingly laughable place, so who knows.

I don't understand this suggestion that because of Van Gaal's system he wouldn't make an impact. It's a lazy assumption based on a myth that Van Gaal wants to pass teams to death and will only play one way.

We lacked incisiveness last year and couldn't break teams down - mainly because we were so slow and couldn't change the point of attack quickly or move the ball fast enough to get teams on the back foot.

Van Gaal is a vastly experienced manager who will see what we see and a lot more. I find the suggestion that he wouldn't want a player who was the best player in the PL when he left - as well as offering us precisely what we lack in terms of pace, power and goals in wide areas, a bizzare one to be honest.

Van Gaal did the best he could with square pegs in round holes last year and the system was probably partly based on necessity. I see no reason why he wouldn't want a game changer.

Not neccesarily outpassing other teams to death (although that is important for LVG) but the player should be comfortable in one-two passes, on keeping the posession and on playing when there is only very limted spaces. I can't see Bale doing either of these.

He shines when there is a lot of space ahead of him. On counter attackins systems, when his team is the underdog (like how he did with Spurs and Wales). He is struggling on Madrid, and will struggle even more in LVG system considering how players are mart part of the system and don't have much freedom. Even the rare players who had freedom in LVG systems (like Robben) had far superior technique compared to Bale.
