Gareth Bale

Except for Sergio Aguero that list is laughable. They are not in Bale's tier. He sits with your Luis Suarez and Neymar's of this world. He would be the best player in the league it's not a debate.

Can't believe you named Sanchez.

Jesus. The Bale obsession is strong in this one.

Seems to be sleeping with Perez. Can't see it happening.

Says the guy who believe Sanchez and bloody David Silva are in the same league as him. Pedro probably as good as Neymar too? :p

No, they're comfortably better. Just like Neymar and Suarez are comfortably better as well.

Pedro's worse then all of them.

I wonder who Arsenal and City would prefer. In a free market no one is picking those players over Bale preference or not. I liked David Trezeguet but I know Henry was the better player. Stop being anti Bale.

I think Bale is an elite talent within the tier of Neymar, Hazard, Suarez, Aguero but he would be on the bottom of that list above the likes of Reus, Di Maria, Sanchez etc. The more I think about it the more it makes sense that Bale joins United. Hes British FFS we should be able to at least sign the top British players in the world!

The problem is the fee and Perez, the money Madrid paid for him is the crowning achievement of one Daniel Levy. Perez would never admit that the fee was excessive and he was duped by Levy and would never allow Bale to leave without a fight. Bale has another 4 years left on his contract so there is nothing to force Madrid to sell. Unless Bale personally requests to head back to England I cant see this happening (though another year of Madrid fans shitting on him could hasten this process). Even if Bale convinces Madrid to sell (at the moment he doesnt even want to leave) the fee would have to break the world record which is absurd imo.

Sanchez is comfortably better than Bale?

It's just mind boggling to me why some people refuse to rate Bale. I mean saying he's overrated is one thing but to say Sanchez is comfortably better....

Some of the opinions on here I find staggering. Bale was superb in his last season in the Premier League and performed to levels few players ever have in carrying a frankly average side.

He's the type of player we lack. Direct, blisteringly fast and therefore able to add pace to the attack and get teams in the back foot. He's difficult to defend against as if you get close he can go past you and if you sit off he can deliver a quality ball or hit the target from distance. For me a player like that takes this neat, tidy and tactically sound team to the next level.

Bale is a top tier player proven in the premier league. He would suit us to perfection and we must get him asap. I would say he's as effective as Sanchez and Hazard, Behind Messi and Ronaldo, possibly behind Neymar and Suarez aswell though but only because his confidence looked abit low last season whereas they were both on fire!

He's almost single-handedly dragged Wales from 90th to 10th in the FIFA World rankings. Compare this with Messi who visibly wilts on the international stage, away from his Barca comfort zone.

Oh, you mean that Messi who lead Argentina to a runner-up place at the last World Cup and Copa America. Gotcha. True, what exactly has Messi done on the international stage!

I wish Bale wasn't such a fanny, grew some balls and came back to England. We should lure him away.

This fecking idiotic love in with him here is crazy. He could've joined us, he didn't want to, preferred RM, now he's Perez's pet dog who's treated like a bitch he is by the fans, been average in La Liga, would cost gazilions of quid, doesn't want to come back here and yet it's the same old tiring shit with him. Nearly as tiring as me complaining about it again.

Has been OK at Madrid, certainly hasn't justified his price tag. He's probably waiting for Ronaldo to retire/leave so he can be top dog.

Bale is the player I would most love to see here, and I'm certain he's at the top of our most wanted list.

If woody could pull this one off, it would be awesome.

He is so at home in the Prem.

You were telling people to dream on about the Ramos rumours but you are hopeful of us getting Perez's darling Bale, who himself doesn't want to go? LELZ.

Messi didn't "lead" Argentina to the runner-up place.
They had a relatively easy group of Iran, Nigeria & Bosnia & Herzegovina. Favorites by far.

They had a lucky draw and went up against Switzerland, Belgium & a Netherlands that had to change their whole game-play and formation due to the injury of Kevin Strootman. (all of whom they barely beat)
They were clear favorites. Yes, Messi did play well, but they were clear favorites.

Sure Argentina underperformed on the pitch, and Messi scored 4 goals to bail them out, but that's not to say that he was the one leading them.
Messi got the golden ball because of his name. Many were angry/(insert whatever word describes it) that he won in front of Rodriguez, Muller or even Neuer. There were even a lot of people arguing that Messi was even behind Mascherano for Argentina.
The funny thing is, Messi didn't even make the all-star team.

Now, I'm not a Messi hater, I think he is a fantastic player, the best in the world for me regardless if he would have sat by a corner to take a shit, and for it to have been his best highlight from the world cup (trying to imply how little I think the arguement of "international football results" should matter);
But to say he lead Argentina to the world cup final just seems very, very wrong.

By lead I meant captained and played an important role. You mentioned that in your own post how his goals actually bailed Argentina out. He was playing out of position and did very well. He may not have been at his Barca best but to downplay his importance in getting Argentina to the final in both the WC and Copa is unfair. More importantly, I was replying to someone who said that Messi wilts when playing for Argentina. The guy used that ridiculous argument to compare Messi and Bale!!

Bale isn't one of my picks as the attacker I'd have here but to say Sanchez is better is severely underrating the guy.

I'd take Aguero and Hazard over Bale any day.

He's better than Silva and Sanchez tho.

Severe underating of Bale going on as usual...
He is the most overrated player here since Danny Welbeck.

He was the weakest point in Madrid last season and arguably not even in their top 10 players. Yet mainoldo insists that he is on Suarez and Neymar level despite not being even close.

I'm not convinced there is much between the two, I still think Bale is better though

As @RedRover says he'd be perfect for us. I'd be very happy with Bale, he's what I fear we're lacking in terms of direct speed (and as a bonus, he's British too).

Indeed. If he came here, he'd likely stay here and in my opinion he'd solve some of the problems we have, specifically a lack of directness from wide positions and a lack of genuine pace. The ability to be neat and tidy and keep possession is great - but for periods of time last year a lot of sides just shut up shop and invite us to break them down. We couldn't move the ball quickly enough to do it. A player like Bale changes that - teams will defend deep but we've got an outlet - as well as a player who will likely get 15 to 20 goals and create space for others around him.

The fact that he's british, and has a lot of PL experience is also a big bonus in terms of him coning back to the PL and being ready to kick on straight away.

I don't remember anybody thinking Rodríguez should have been the golden ball.

No way. If anyone's underrated it's Silva, with comments like that. One of the best #10's in the game. He's wasted at City, just like Aguero.
They are different players and have different qualities obviously, however I think Bale's peak level is a bit higher than Silva's. It's not taking anything from the latter. Besides Bale should be just entering his prime level..

I really don't understand why our club especially Woodward doesn't start sounding Bale out like Madrid did for years before they actually got Ronaldo.

We should be singing Bales praises in media from the top level of the club, pretty much give no other option then United once he decides to leave.

Because the managers at United have full control of transfers? Plus if Woodward starting doing that we'd be all saying..."Well, he was a woodward buy, blah, blah, blah, so the current manager doesn't really want him."

That and I faintly remember Bale saying something along the lines of not wanting to come to United.

No disrespect toward the Baliebers as I rate the player myself and wouldn't mind seeing us spending 60m for him. Having said that can he play upfront?

I'm 100% certain Rafa will cock up in Madrid as he did with Inter thus Bale having another bad year and the heat rising from the real fans who already use him as a scape goat. My only concern will be whether he'd want to play for us. He snubed us for Spurs already....
