It'd be too big a transfer so late in the window, big clubs don't sell top players this late in August.

We need to pick up players from 2nd tier clubs (like spurs) and develop them

No chance this late on. Madrid havent got time to replace him unless they are lining something else up too. Cant see this remotely happening.

Woodward pulled off Di Maria last yr, but they had Bale, Rodriguez, Isco in line etc. Real in my view to sell a ''galatico'' would need one coming in too. Although the fans havent got a huge link to Bale they would still not want him going in my view.

Bale / Muller - unattainable. Need to focus on potential players that we could bring in. Hopefully Ed's got it covered elsewhere (away from Southampton too)

Marca did a survey and this was the team their fans want to see...

Im fine with that. DeGea plus €80m for Bale.

How in any shape or form is that a good deal. Lets say we value De Gea at £20m, that plus the 80m euros would pretty much mean we are giving Madrid back almost every penny they spent on Bale in 2013 AND a world class keeper.

This is my biggest gripe about the Bale fans in here. You guys defy logic in your love for this guy. Bale is not better now than he was when he went to Madrid.

or you could look at is at 80m euros being £57.61 at todays exchange rate and accept that madrid are allegedly only valuing de gea at around £15m due to him being able to sign a pre contract for free in janruary... so that would value tha bale deal from their perspective at £72.61m - which does not seem that unreasonable (from a united point of view)

Agree. As much as I'd like Bale, a deal like this would be outrageously stupid. He is two years older than when he went there and hasn't become a better player, so his price should at least be significantly lower than what Real paid for him

We are never going to get a "good deal". DDG can go for nothing in a year, and €80m isnt all that much in this current (crazy)market.

Im not a Bale fan per se.

@pierrethesnack "outrageously stupid" is a bit much no?

Feel sorry for him really, the fans over there are very harsh.

I'd love a swap + cash with De Gea. It would make so much sense; both boys going back to their motherland... I reckon that's the deal United want, but Bale and Perez want to justify the 100 million euro fee, so they're hanging in there for another year.

Di Maria? Falcao?

If they recoup much of the 100million euros back it wont matter, besides since when have Madrid cared about looking financial prudent.

Griezmann is not in Bale's league you are anti-Bale for the simple fact you bring up the names Bacca and Vela. What an insult.
Since Bale went to Spain, Griezmann has scored more goals than Bale, while having far better all round performances. Griezmann last season was around as good (probably slightly worse) as Bale was in his last season for Spurs. They are definitely around the same level.

I know that you think that British players are the best players ever, and Bale is meant to be a United player, but seriously give it a break. So far in this thread you have said that Bale is better than Reus, Muller and Griezmann despite that he is the only one who is struggling in a top team, while all of them have been shining in top teams. If Bale wasn't British, no-one here would habe wanted us to spend 50m pounds on him.

With RM buying Kovacic, I'm sure someone will be up for grabs. Whether Bale, Benzema or Isco, we should add De Gea into a deal to acquire one of the three.

I'm going to LVG you and give you a simple. No he wasn't. Griezmann hasn't not reached any Bale esq performance. Was he even in the LA liga team of the year?

agreed. Griezmann or we riot! haha

Griezemann does only have 4 assists in 2 years though.

I'd rather have Reus than Bale as I think he'd suit us more but I'm not turning Bale down (rather have Bale over Muller as well) even if it cost the 80m illustrated above. We've spent 8m net so far ffs, money should not be an issue.

Bale can score no goals next season and some will still have him in the top 5 players in the world. Bottom line is he hasn't performed for two seasons now.

Eh? He was very good during their CL-winning season.

Griezmann has scored more goals then Bale in each of the last 2 seasons, once when Griezmann played for Sociedad, once for Atletico, while Bale played for Real Madrid both years. And Griezmann's all around technique is better then Bale's, who has basically looked big and clumsy on the ball during his time at Madrid.

And what kind of basis is was he in the team of the year? It's somebody's opinion. Bale sure as feck wasn't in any team of the year after the shit he served up last season. At his best he's the better player, but over the last seasons, Griezmann has been the better player without a shadow of a doubt. Bale just has the 12/13 season and his national team performances which everyone keeps falling back on.

The romantic in me in hoping that the DDG has stalled because we're insisting to use him in a Bale deal. We should know that if we mess around with Madrid this Summer by not allowing them DDG, they could easily be bastards to us with Bale next Summer.

DDG + 50-60million for Mr Bale and we'll all be happy (apart from the Bale haters).

I like Bale, but I want Griezmann more. His stats are better than Bales, he is younger and cheaper.

No idea, probably not considering that in attack Barca has the three amicos, and Madrid have Ronaldo. All of them, significantly better than Griezmann.

Btw, was Bale in La Liga team of the year? And what are considered Bale-esque performances? Being the second worst player on the team (after Casillas) and getting booed by your fans?

Eh? He was very good during their CL-winning season.
At the very best case, he was Madrid's fifth best player that season. All of Ronaldo, Modric, Di Maria and Ramos were better, if not significantly better.

He still had a very good season though, no doubt about it, but no-one in their right mind would have put him in top 10. Last season, he wasn't near as good.

Just because those players were better (I'd definitely argue that Ramos wasn't better), doesn't detract from Bale's own showing that season. He was very good, and he scored some crucial goals.

I think that Ramos was the best CB in the world last season, and scored some highly important goals like the goal against Atletico in the last minute and the brace against Bayern. Bale was very good, but there were easily 10 better players than him that season.

He might have been in top 10 during 2012-2013 (might, not necessarily has been) but that was a long time ago. Yet mainoldo and co. insist that Bale is still a top 5 player (which he has never ever been).

???

Bale

La Liga - 58 games, 28 goals, 21 assists
CL - 22 games, 8 goals, 5 assists

Griezmann

La Liga - 72 games, 38 goals, 4 assist
CL - 15 games, 2 goals, 0 assists

Bales stats are far superior to Griezmann's, it's not even that close.
