Gareth Bale

He would cost a fortune at this stage. We missed our chance, through his choice, and I really can't see SAF putting up the kind of money Spurs would look for.

... Loads of talent as we all know. And it just hasn't come off for him at Tottenham ...
There are some bizarre comments made on here sometimes.

Bale has been a huge success at Spurs in the 2nd half of this season. Harry rates him hugely and so do the fans.

.... so the price shouldn't be substantial. ...
Are you serious? Spurs would only sell Bale if the player strongly wanted to leave ... and the price tag would be huge.

Nani's Bale out time?

Espnstar mentions that we currently attack through right with Valencia or through the middle and that Evra lacks support on the left. If the rumours are true and we land Bale for next season, what does it mean for Nani? Considering the form Bale is in right now, I think he will definitely be the first choice LW'er.

Will Nani stay and make a fight out of it, or will he bug off to other club's seeking more first team action?

Effectively, it it becomes Nani Vs Bale, what would be your choice?

we arent in for bale.
and nani isnt going anywhere.

Even if we did get Bale.. I reckon Nani would still stay. I don't think we'll get Bale this summer but I can definitely see us going for him year after that.

Three top class wingers would be fine and I'd rather we got rid of lesser talents and rotated between three top quality wingers (hypothetical depending on we did get Bale or any LW for that matter).

well they play for different teams, does it matter

espnstar talk crap though because nani assisted in a lot of goals. To say we don't attack down his side...is wrong. If we want bale we get him and it has no effect on nani. Besides people think he plays better on the right (nani) then he does the left.

I had to check the date of this post because I thought it was from about a year ago.

Are you being serious? Where have you been for the last 4 months? Nani has been absolutely superb during that period.

For the record, I'd take Nani over Bale.

Have I missed something? Nani has been in sparkling form hasn't he? I'm sure I didn't dream the last 4 months...

so suddenly evryone seems to like Bale.

Have we change the standards of the players we want or we just can get average players? I thought we were Manchester Utd not fecking midtable clubs.

He's probably been the best left-mid in the league this season, despite not even playing there for about half a season.

He has put in a few performances that have been as good as anyone. The talent is clearly there. He has the potential to be a top class player.

I don't agree with others who say he is average. I still don't think we will buy him though.

Ah feck, I knew there was someone I'd forgotten.

Malouda's been consistently quality pretty much since the end of last season, so yeah.

Still, Bale's been a big step up from a mediocre player this season.

I'd hardly say his form has been sparkling but it has been encouraging. It would be crazy to get rid of Nani now - big World Cup coming up for him and a massive season ahead.

Really?

I'd beg to differ - he's had some absolutely fantastic matches. I don't think I'm being hyperbolic in saying that. He's been really productive since the turn of the year and now one of the first names on the team sheet.

In any case, Bale's good form is just as 'sudden' as Nani's. Not long ago, Bale was a laughing stock and figure of ridicule.

Seriously? the fecker had two good games and all these threads? Nani pisses all over Bale and so does Evra as a matter of fact!

To be fair, it is more than just two matches.

Plus, one could argue that Nani has also only had a few good matches, most of which have been recent. If you were going to beat Bale with that stick, Nani would probably fall under the same category.

espnstar are currently rubbish.

anyways nani just signed a new deal.

and he has done more than bale

One, Nani had some good matches, but 'absolutely superb' is a stretch.
Two, If Bale does make it in, then Nani would have to fight for this position on both wings. I was just wondering if he would stay & fight or look for easier opportunities elsewhere.

Yeah thats a load of bollocks. We mainly attack down our wings, though we look to get the ball to our right winger who is usually Valencia, as much as possible and as soon as he is free.

On the left hand side however we try to play through Evra the most. Its usually a slower buildup than on the right involving one-two's that push Evra on as our width down the left. Not sure I'm a big fan of doing that when we play a 442 but it happens whether Park, Nani, Giggs or Obertan play on the left because its tactical not due to whoever is playing on the left wing.

Unless we made a change to our actual tactics, even signing Bale he'd have to play the same way.

Most likely we could ask Park, Nani or Obertan to stay wider and just get us up the pitch as fast as possible like we try to on the right. Its just not how we play on the left right now and I'm sure Sir Alex has his reasons for that.

Clearly, Bale has had more than just two good matches.

But Nani has had way more than just a few good games. Seriously, look at the fixture list since around the time we battered Hull at OT. He has been making telling contributions ever since.

I feel for Nani in the midst of the wreckage of our European exit. He was phenomenal against Bayern Munich - that really was a top class performance from the boy that has been quickly forgotten.

According to Glaston, Bale has played 19 times this season, with five of those being from the bench.

But after a month or two of very good form, he's the second coming.

Christ on a bike.

Well, it's my opinion. He's been productive in virtually every game in the past four months. I can only remember AC Milan away when he didn't have a good/influential game.

Why would we spend upwards of £20m on a player when we have Nani, whose form has been every bit as good, if not better? Then to boot we have Park. Then to boot, we have another talent in Obertan...

He's the most frustrating player in our squad imo. He was awesome v Munich at Old Trafford but utter turd at Blackburn.

The thing he lacks is consistency, which is paramount for the position he plays. Wingers are generally unpredictable and I accept that. But the amount of times he fails to deliver or his final ball isn't up to scratch is worrying. However, after sayingI wouldn't mind him sold in January just gone, I am now happy to see him play because he has knuckled down.

Sensational he hasn't been, very, very promising he has. Hopefully next season we'll see the real Nani.

His performance against Bayern has not been forgotten.

Nani has had a very good second half of the season. He has been far more consistent and has put in a few brilliant performances. There have been a few bad ones as well. Obviously there have been far more good than bad.

But a lot of people were calling for Nani to be sold until the Arsenal match.

Some people are saying that Bale has only had a good couple of matches and that he is an average player. Bale has had a good season but in the second half has become extremely good.

I merely pointed out that this has kind of mirrored Nani's season, and that if Bale is going to be beaten with that stick (that he has only become good recently), then Nani could be subject to the same critisism.

I dont think they are looking for strikers at the moment. They already have four and five if Keane included. So I m not sure about that deal and as regards to people thinking we can give Carrick + money for him will not work either because they have just signed up Sandro who is a defensive midfielder as well.

 It was a muppet WUM.
