Gareth Bale

FFS Nani just signed A 4 YEAR DEAL and yet we are having this kind of discussion?! And furthermore I think our wings are well occupied whether it's R/LB or R/LW..

Well, it's my opinion. He's been productive in virtually every game in the past four months. I can only remember AC Milan away when he didn't have a good/influential game.

Why would we spend upwards of £20m on a player when we have Nani, whose form has been every bit as good, if not better? Then to boot we have Park. Then to boot, we have another talent in Obertan...

Blackburn???

I am sure Nani has potential, but he is still too inconsistent. The reason why these runours are floating around is due to that fact. Whether Bale comes or not, I am sure Nani will remain for the next season & that will be the make/break season for him. If he still continues to glitter & fritter, then his time would have run out. I hope he comes good.

Blackburn. A game where the entire team was diabolical.

Fine, Milan away and Blackburn away. He has still been very, very good in the vast majority of our other matches.

The reason rumours continue to fly around is because the press have nothing better to do. Any reasoned observer would see that Nani has been fulfilling his potential in the second half of this season and has added much needed consistency to his game.

Why on Earth would we arrest that development now by buying a new winger?

First of all, I don't think we will be buying Bale nor am I saying we should.

But if we did, what would be wrong with it? Nani can play on the right and is better there than he is on the left. Having Bale, Valencia and Nani fighting it out for two spots looks very good. Buying Bale would not be the end of Nani. If anything, it would mean that Nani would spend more time on the right.

But, as I said, I highly doubt we will go for bale.

we arent in for bale.
and nani isnt going anywhere.

Why so many vs threads.

Nani by a country fecking mile.

According to Glaston, Bale has played 19 times this season, with five of those being from the bench.

But after a month or two of very good form, he's the second coming.

Christ on a bike.

Nani is better and easily has lot more potential.

And this thread should be in the transfer forum, because it is nothing more than a rubbish rumour.

Nani by a fecking country mile, AND some!

All of this.

This.

Bale would be a great signing for this club. Left wing sorted for 10 years (he wouldn't be going anywhere), freekicks sorted (actually worth taking them again), competition on the wings again.

Buying Bale would not in any way, shape or form 'arrest development', FFS it would mean Nani, Bale, Valencia and Obertan competed for places (unless Obertan gets played through the middle, which he arguably should...).

Wildly optimistic..that's if it were ever going to happen.

Remember he turned us down once already, let him stay at Spurs and compete for minor placings

He's 20, he's Welsh, he's a quality left-footed football player.

Do you think if Nani has two seasons of consistent class he'll be sticking around? Foreigners don't stay for long, sure, there's the odd exception (Ole), but generally they're here to do a job and then find somewhere culturally compatible for themselves.

If we don't sign Bale, I guarantee that by this time next season the very same posters who are scoffing at the prospect now, will be wishing we had.

First time I've heard "Welsh" used in that way.

I don't think we need to sign him...guaranteed this time next season when Spurs are shite once more I'll be sticking to my opinion.

Let's sign more players based on a couple of good games shall we?

Idiotic post.

Welsh and Scottish payers of high quality are a rare joy in the PL due to the fact that they don't have any cultural difficulties, and their international duties tend to be limited in comparison to that of English talent.

This constant mewing of 'signing Bale based on two games' is redundant. He's been a quality prospect since his emergence.

Oh, and WE TRIED TO SIGN HIM 2 YEARS AGO! So obviously SAF would disagree with you about him being worth buying.

I'm happy with SAF's opinion of players over anyone else's.

Fergie's squad needs for two years ago were quite different from what they are now, which is why this is entire "Let's sign Bale" stuff is pure media fabrication which some in the transfer forum have embraced after his recent good performance.

We defintiely need more options on the wings as Giggs is a fading force. Bale is an immense talent. Sign him up Fergie!

How are Fergie's 'squad needs' different?

Do we have a clearly designated back up for Evra? Has Ryan Giggs been replaced beyond question?

I'm fairly sure Bale would get games for United if he did actually move this summer...

Sky Sports | Football News | Premier League | Tottenham Hotspur | Spurs rule out Bale sale
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has made it abundantly clear that Gareth Bale is going nowhere.

The Welsh winger has been in electrifying form of late, starring for Spurs as they look to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

His performances have seen him showered with plaudits, while the inevitable speculation regarding his future at White Hart Lane has also surfaced.

Redknapp, though, insists Bale is very much part of Tottenham's long-term project and has no intention of letting the 20-year-old move on.

He said: "We're looking to build a team here. We wouldn't be looking to sell players like him. He's the future of the football club.

"You've got to keep your best young players here. He's part of that.

"Someone's always got to link someone with somewhere. There's no chance of it. I don't make those decisions but I know the chairman would not want to be selling him.

"We're a club that is looking to build a new stadium, a new training ground. We're a club that wants to go upwards and forwards. We're not into selling a player like Gareth Bale, that's for sure.

Amazing

"His game has gone up so many levels this season. He's got stronger, he's a fantastic athlete, great ability. He can do everything.

"He's got the ability to run all day. He's grown up. He's still only a boy, but physically he has got stronger this last year and he's looking as good as any left-sided player in the country.

"The ability to run like he does is amazing. He runs 60 yards, recovers, runs 60 yards again, recovers, runs 60 yards, he just doesn't stop.

"When you are playing against him it must be very difficult because he just keeps going at you and going at you. Eventually, unless you are very fit, you are not going to run with him for 90 minutes."

Well obviously Ronaldo and Tevez are gone, Berba is underperforming, and the rest of our strikers are either injured or young and lernin. Therefore the priority is an attacking midfielder and/or a striker. A winger is the last thing we need and it would be grossly irresponsible to waste money on a position that we've got covered for the next five years or more.

the end

Well now you see why we should wait another year before we even think about making a move.

He still has a fair bit to develop and I think he'll get there.. just too raw to sign for us and fit in straight away... thats if we don't find a cheaper alternative by then.

People have a go at Rafael's defensive naivety! In fairness to our young right back, he was again dogged and resilient. He made one silly, fundamental error from a set piece, but that is easy to iron out. His defending in open play was excellent.

But Bale -. The man has no sense of positioning.

Well most people who want to sign him.. don't do so for his defensive abilities.

In which case, it would be a waste of £20m because Nani is already better than him.

Sorry, but this audition made for harrowing viewing for the Bale fan club?

We don't need Bale. Not because what he didn't do today, or did do last week against Chelsea - but because we're covered on the wings and have other priorities to consider at Striker.

And central midfield.

Had Bale played on the left and Modric continued just a bit deeper than Huddlestone in the middle, we'd have had a tougher match. Lucky for us Harry changed it.

Didn't ever look that good as a fullback, and today changed nothing on that front, but he is a splended player and showed flashes of form today.

Shame he looks like a monkey with shit hair

Rafael had him well covered. The only quality he really showed was his burst of speed.
