Gareth Bale

I thought it was that he has never won a league match which he started?

Righto.

Well he still hasn't won a league match which he started!

After two years and four months, 25 games and 1,533 minutes of action Gareth Bale was finally part of a winning Tottenham Hotspur team in the Premier League.

He played 6 minutes in Saturdays 5-0 drubbing of Burnley.

Exactly what it says...

Not trying to poke fun, but it has been quite an ongoing joke that has spanned numerous seasons.

Note Redknapp's wait for the five goal cushion before introducing him.

 Only Glaston could possibly be wound up by something like this.
Oh, and maybe Dumpstar.

I guess the fun had to end eventually, and I'm sure he was integral to them not shipping four goals in five minutes to Burnley. Might be a new contract in the pipeline now, or something.

The fact he's a good player has never been in doubt, and is part of what made this so funny, Glaston, as all manner of things kept him out of winning sides. Bale still has a worse winning record than disaster-season Derby had though, and he's not scored as much as Paul Jewell either. :D

:lol::lol:

It took five goals and a shite opposition to convince Harry to try his luck at breaking the Gareth Fail Voodoo curse

Hurray!

Not only this, but he (again) put in a very good performance.

Only 20 years old still - he has a superb potential career ahead of him. He's got great pace, excellent commitment and passion, and a very good left foot. If he can learn better the defensive side of the game - and he has plenty of time in which to do this - then he's going to become IMO one of the very best LBs in the game.

Yeah we had one of those, his name was Forlan.

Seriously though, Spur's leftback for the forseeable future won't be BALE ... but B.A.E. ;)

Gibbs is better, Bale is a bit of a donkey.
Donkey be blowed ... Bale has pace to burn, a driving desire and commitment, is athletic and strong and is a far better prospect than Gibbs.

Except Gibbs has all those things and actually has desire and commitment, unlike bale you moseys up and down the wing has he pleases.

If you don't think that Bale has desire and commitment, then I doubt you've seen him in action much.

I can agree that Bale needs to further develop the defensive side of his game, and has plenty of time in which to do so, but going forward he is really good.

He's generally come on in leaps and bounds this season, and IMO Ekotto will have his work cut out to regain the LB spot at Spurs when he returns from injury.

If you offer the choice between Gibbs and Bale, then sorry, it's no real contest for me.
