If you offer the choice between Gibbs and Bale, then sorry, it's no real contest for me.
We'll see.

If you don't think that Bale has desire and commitment, then I doubt you've seen him in action much.
I can agree that Bale needs to further develop the defensive side of his game, and has plenty of time in which to do so, but going forward he is really good.
He's generally come on in leaps and bounds this season, and IMO Ekotto will have his work cut out to regain the LB spot at Spurs when he returns from injury.

Bale has many more than just one good game under his belt, but perhaps some folk have gotten too hung up on the 'curse' to know this.Gibbs has shown signs of becoming a really good full-back and I'd say he'll be better than Bale, personally. Bale's simply had one good game to break the final bonds of his curse while Gibbs has shown real promise - albeit with a few nerves.
I said that Ekotto would have his "work cut out" to regain his place when he returns from injury because Bale has impressed in the former's absence. That's not quite the same as saying that Ekotto will "struggle" - I simply mean that he now faces strong competition.I'd have Bale over Gibbs. But GS does overrate Spurs players obviously. Earlier this season he was heralding Ekotto as one of the best left-backs about, but now he's saying he'll struggle for his place because of a handful of decent Bale performances. Just shows how you can take most of what he says with a pinch of salt.

This jinx is hilarious though.
Ramsey + Bale. Wasted international careers with Wales.
Ramsey + Bale. Wasted international careers with Wales.
Explain.
Bale has a less disappointing end product than Evra.
Explain.

If, sometime in the future, Wales manage to build a half decent team round these two, and get to a major tournament, it will mean 50 times more to them, than being in an England team at the WC
They're Welsh.
You seem to be under the impression that I was suggesting they should have ditched their country and elected to play for England. This is not the case.
Unless you play for a World Cup or European Championship winning team, surely every international career is wasted, including England.
Unless you think Bale and Ramsey would only be not wasting their career if they played for Italy or Brazil, which is just silly.

Most Spurs fans would probably say he's better at LB, partly because from that deeper position he generally gets more space and time in which to make his forward runs.I was impressed with Bale against Arsenal. Infact for the last couple of months he's been playing very well indeed. But his performances of late have made me think he'd be a much better winger than defender.
Yup he is quality. Still a bit meh defensively but he's like 20 or so.
oh look, May 9th 2009, I love being the voice of reason:
